xxxxyobdab
BYOND Key: Xxxxyobdab Character Names: Wasn't sure if you meant who I'd play as or who I currently play as. Current: - Agony (Cyborg) - DigiBorg (Cyborg) - DigiBot (pAi) - Zedd Wiltenbur (Medical Intern) - Navin Hallos (Assistant) - Sphear Frorthion (Librarian/Assistant) - Russell Shine (Atmospheric Tech.) - Chris Shine (Hydroponics) Proposed Name For the IPC Unit: - I'm slightly undecided and probably would have 2-3 different ones. As i want to continue the Digi-Brand name, but I also want Zedd to own an IPC and retire. (The IPC would likely take his place in the medical department of the Aurora), in which I'd name the unit after him. Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Likely a neutral color (Black, Grey, White) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I would like to play as an IPC for its unique take on cybertronic theory and application. As I am use to playing as a cyborg, the physiological machine aspect and the logical reasoning is something I'd like to experience, and play with due to how it differs from a cyborg and a human. The IPC's self care is also vastly different then a human, and one I feel I would better play with compared to Skrell, Unathi, or Tajara. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: What makes playing an IPC different then playing as a human is pretty lengthy. IPC's reasoning and decisions effect their social status and social appearance. This in turn develops into a perceived personality for the unit. While the unit may not have or produce such a personality, due to human understanding, it tends to blur the lines of what others around them learn from the unit's actions. IPC units do not need or crave social attention or relationships, this creates new routes of play, since you may not need the kitchen, or the bar to socialize in. This leaves the unit able to focus on directives and self care, while also allowing the unit to learn and expand it's memory. As a non-human, IPCs lack the need for food and hydration, blood, standard medical care, and oxygen. This is one of the biggest factors in my opinion on how they differ from playing a human, they do not need as much attention to them self as a human would, and this allows the unit to not only continue on, and also removes the option of relying on those applications, and forces new options to be used in relevant situations. Character Name: ( Zed, Digital Unit: Zed, DigiMed)?? I don't have a solid name at the moment honestly. Please provide a short backstory for this character: This Unit uses a positronic brain from the Digital Electronics AI line, the chassis is of the Baseline type(Bishop or Zeng-Hu). Ordered to provide aid for Zedd Wiltenbur after an accident impaired him both physically and mentally. Nanotrasen Paid for suitable prosthetics, and further provided the IPC to aid with home health care and home income. The unit is currently property of Nanotrasen, completely paid off, it is being leased to own to Wiltenbur under contract the unit works at a Nanotrasen facility. This unit is prepared for medical care, cleaning, cooking, emergency services, and made to work diligently to upkeep it's home and owner's needs. The story for this unit will take place soon after being contracted to work at a Nanotrasen facility, contracted to replace Wiltenbur as a Medical Intern. The unit will proceed to work to pay for the home needs and slowly pay itself off to be completely owned by Zedd Wiltenbur. What do you like about this character?: What I like about this character is that it has a few goals in play, the care of Zedd Wiltenbur, paying for Zedd's living and medical expenses, as well as being owned and contracted to Nanotrasen, while also paying itself off to become owned by Zedd. I like how the lore of two of my characters will weave together into a new path. Digital Electronics products are being used more and more by various Nanotrasen crew and services and Nanotrasen has taken a notice. By delving into the company Nanotrasen is likely to make a move on it in some compacity. For the time being Digital Electronics is enjoying the incoming, Zedd is getting therapy, and Nanotrasen is preparing a financial move. Thus begins this units journey, serving a crippled ex-employee of the Aurora, who is likely to die before it owns the unit. How will this unit change through time? That is story waiting to happen! How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Beginner to Moderate Edited June 16, 2021 by xxxxyobdab Link to comment
Lordnesh
I don't see this getting approved as it is. Part of the application process is demonstrating an understanding of the lore and demonstrating it through character creation. Particularly the more important aspects that are relevant to the lore. While you do demonstrate a basic understanding of the various mechanical differences between IPCs and humans, you fail to address the sociological aspects of being an IPC. Especially in your backstory. Your backstory is basically a blank slate. We know what your character is, but not who your character is. Not to mention, Zedd is a medical intern, and I don't see him having the resources to afford an IPC. I'd recommend completely scrapping the backstory and rewriting it. You should also incorporate the sociological differences between humans and IPCs, in both the main section of your app, and the backstory for whatever character you create. I wish you good luck regardless. Edited June 16, 2021 by Lordnesh added constructive feedback; addresse > incorporate; added positive message Link to comment
The Stryker
Thanks for applying! Although Lordnesh touched on my general concerns above, I'll discuss them more specifically. Quote IPC's reasoning and decisions effect their social status and social appearance. Can you tell me how an IPC's reasoning and decisions might differ from that of a human? What makes an IPC do what it does as compared to a human? Quote While the unit may not have or produce such a personality, due to human understanding, it tends to blur the lines of what others around them learn from the unit's actions. I apologize but could you rephrase this? Do you mean IPCs are harder to understand by humans? Additionally, as Lordnesh stated above, if you could talk about how IPCs fit in society (how they're treated, how they live, etc.) that would help the application a lot. Quote Character Name: ( Zed, Digital Unit: Zed, DigiMed)?? I don't have a solid name at the moment honestly. IPC names can vary widely, from number designations, acronyms, etc. to simply what they were called by the people they worked with. In the context of an application, a name is handy. Quote This Unit uses a positronic brain from the Digital Electronics AI line, Unfortunately, most positronic brains only come from megacorporations or their subsidiaries, such as Hephaestus and Zeng-Hu. Quote Ordered to provide aid for Zedd Wiltenbur after an accident impaired him both physically and mentally. Why would an intern receive an IPC to aid them, given how valuable IPCs are? Quote The unit is currently property of Nanotrasen, completely paid off, it is being leased to own to Wiltenbur under contract the unit works at a Nanotrasen facility. A unit cannot be owned and paid off/free. It's owned by NanoTrasen? What was the unit originally designed for? You mentioned that it had a wide variety of skills. Why would it be hired on as a medical intern of a physician or other "non-learner" role. Why would NanoTrasen leave a unit which would then work to become owned by the person it was leased to? Unfortunately, I have to deny this application, feel free to re-apply in a week. If you need help with the application or the backstory, @Tailson and myself are available in DMs and on the Aurora Lore Central Discord. The community, also present in the lore discord are a huge help with things like this. Link to comment
