PoZe's Moderator Application.

Recommended Posts

Basic Information

Byond Account: PoZe

Character Name(s): Dmytro Koschoviy, Leonardo Mull, Fernando Williams, Skyline.

AI Name(s): Skyline

Preferred means of contact: Skype, Team Speak, Forum.

Age: 18

Timezone: GMT+2

When are you on Aurora?: Well, from 09:00 to 23:00. Sometimes from 12:00 or 14:00 to 23:00(It's all for GMT+2)

Experience

How long have you played SS13?: 3 years + this 4 month

How long have you played on Aurora: 4 month

How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Well, i know about game mechanics almost everything, almost.

Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Yes, i was Head Admin on the Rustation 13( i don't think it's something i can proud for, server had bad Host, so i had troubles with him all the time)

Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Jobban from Jennalele, but i have write my excuse and i have been unjobbaned. I had done bad thing: i was palying as scientist and it after shuttle left the station i have teleported plasma bomb to the medbay and blowed up it. I am really sorry for that.

Personality

Why do you play SS13?: Well, i have joined to this game because i like everything that is connected to the space: games, movies, anime, books. One day i have found this game. And i like that it's sandbox/RP.

Why do you play on Aurora?: Becuase it's Heavy-Roleplay server with adequate players and Admin staffs. I was playing on different server, but only here i have found what i want.

What do moderators do?: Well, basicly moderators must assist to the admins with sorting things for example: Admins has more functions, moderator not. if some RP is broken(like... nuke ops shuttle is buged or Verbs are not right) and we have a griefer at the same time then admin is dealing with RP problem and moderator are dealing with Griefers. Primary Moderator and Administrator purpose is to watch for round, if everything is fine with RP, griefers, rules.

What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It mean that i should do my duty correct: To watch for any IC or OOC trouble that we could have.

Why do you want to be a moderator?: Because my timezone is GMT+2 and when i am palying, i can see that we have lack of admins/moderators at that time.

What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I am Hard-wroking(at least i think so, tell if i am not if you think so.), I am communicative, i have wish to learn soemthing more. I am alway opened for something new.

How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Well, this is my disadvantage i think. Sometime i am nervous, if person is pushing on me i can be nervous. But most of the time i can calm myself down. Insulting: i don't like insult, but i am not taking it at all.

Anything Else You Want to Add:

I want to add, that if you think that i am not capable to be a moderator at least make me as Chris - Consulor, so if i would see some griefe or soething else is wrong i can look at his Ckey and tell to Skull/Scopes about them.

If you want to know why i had troubles with that Host on the Rustation i can write it here.

Hm. You're eager and active, and friendly. All of which are positive traits.

The one thing that sticks out, however, is your ability to maintain communications in English. The most important skill for a Moderator and an Administrator is their ability to communicate. Looking at yourself, how well do you think you could cope with carrying over your intent clearly and properly, in English? This is more than one's ability to spell or simply make your point clear: what starts mattering is the light in which you make your point clear.

I can agree with you, clearly it's very important ability. Because i need to communicate with players properly, honestly i am every phraze that i am writing in English i am checking twice according to the translation. I don't know how that would affect, but one i could say is, that i can use General English and Personal. I mean that as you can notice my character 'Leonardo Mull' is using personal English, wich meant it's basic, like he is speaking with friends. But my Character Alfred Ewing(captain) is using only General English, i mean that he is trying to speak more officially with every person and he must do it because he is the captain, not some bartender.

What is about making my point? Generaly speaking, it's the most common issue with every peson. human. Most of us have issues with communication because they cannot point out what they try to say. Honestly, i don't know would i point out on what i mean, we could try to... maybe some trial/temporary. But i can sure you, every my OOC post is more personal then general, i can speak official and i can speak with you like you are my friend.

Gosh, I remember my English used to be awful when I started posting on internet forums. And somehow, people didn't really care. Like, they could obviously tell I wasn't a native speaker, but I never got any flak about it, because I tried my best to get my point across, and the people I was with were nice and understanding. (As well as a little carefree, which helps.)

It might be weird to say it like this, but I was surprised to find PoZe is a really decent guy. (Guy, I think? Correct me if I'm wrong.) I didn't pay much attention to him before, because I tend to have this negative image that people who are less fluent in English = people who are less interested in roleplaying seriously, but PoZe proved me wrong, as he's quite personable, and to my surprise, I've been able to recognize some of his characters (Skyline, Leonardo Mull) as good additions to the station crew I enjoy seeing around.

Skull posting on an application usually means that he is at least considering giving that person a trial (in my experience), and this is one I'd really like to see.

For PoZe, as a previous headmin of another server, I'm sure you understand the amount of talking, diplomacy and communication staff have to engage in, even more so on a heavy-RP server (since there's more issues to deal with). I'm impressed that you're ready to make this application, and honestly wish you the best. This might be a cool opportunity to perfect your English further, too, if you get accepted.

(And as you highlighted before, I do like to joke a lot, but I'm being 100% sincere here. So good luck!)

Got to say, your English has improved markedly since you first came on Aurora!

If you felt you didn't quite grasp what someone was saying in adminhelps, what would you do to deal with this issue?

Well, almost every sentence i am trying to translate with translator to make sure that i have translate it by myself correctly. Most of the time i can do that currectly, even if translator is not right translating i can guess what that mean. Only if someone using Slang. I think i could ask this guy, who ahelped me to rephrase his/her sentence or if some Staff is online to to ask them to.

You tend to get extremely mad about IC stuff, like antags robusting each other back and forth.

You ought to try being more chill.

Apologize, but if you mean yesterday situation when you guys told me to stop detaining antag. After wich I had been o told you my opinion about your situation, then it's nothing to talk about. Don't try to make from one current situation full report about me. I am not going to discuss it in that topic. If you have some problem with me then please feel free to make a complaint.
