Spider Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 A new change makes it so that examining something makes you face it. A lot of the time I like to examine people and things to read their flavor text/descriptions and when I face them it feels really awkward. It even happens if I am using the face-direction command to make my character keep facing one place. It would be nice for the change to be reverted so we can continue to stealthily read everything
ryder Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I noticed that this had stopped working as well. It'd be nice for it to start functioning correctly again. It seems entirely broken on my end, personally.
Carver Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I'd hope for the changes to face-direction to be reverted, rather than just a band-aid fix for quietly examining. It ended up fumbling a lot of other useful interactions like using it for shields in combat.
Gem Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 i agree with all above. if the changes stay, it should only force you to face a direction when you attack with a ranged or melee weapon.

Marlon P. Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I think it makes sense that when you look at something you turn to look at it.

I can look to my left, right and behind me without rotating my entire body, or even rotating my upper body. Humans have necks for this reason.

When you turn your head to give me a once over i can tell youre doing it.

Unless you're directly staring at me, you aren't going to immediately notice me flicking my gaze over to side-eye you. If we want people to be able to notice being examined, just implement one of those systems where if two people examine each other at the same time it produces an emote.
Marlon P. Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Our gaze flicking around is represented in our sprites 360 degree vision. You can look at my sprite as long as you want without me noticing. The shift-click isnt a "glance at" tool its the "examine" tool. It gives you detailed info on everything i am wearing. Wouldn't i notice someone examining me to ascertain details about me?
Carver Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I do not need more than a side-eye to look someone over, and you wouldn't really notice that unless you were Spiderman and had a sixth sense.
Marlon P. Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 You're right. I'm saying it's not a "side-eye" tool it's an "examine" tool. Anyway that's my thoughts. While unintended I like the change OP would want reverted. No biggie to me either way though.
Owen Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I thought I was going crazy that my face-direction was no longer working properly. I would greatly appreciate seeing this reverted to how it used to be, not only for the "quietly examine," but for just being able to click where i want (especially when looking on cameras) without spinning around like a mad man
