Carver Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 In short; Remove the gibbing/mob deletion, replace with massive damage/non-head limb loss akin to teleporting into a wall or similar. It adds nothing to the game and is disturbingly more common (usually due to bugs or incompetence) than people using the gibber/crematorium (however much I equally despise those).
greenjoe Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I'd also suggest a emergency exit door on the bottom level, with one way access leading out of it. access to get into it could be limited to engineering and medical, perhaps, for rescues.

Instead of solely limiting the access I'd also make it a one-way exit akin to medical's doors.
CampinKiller Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I don’t know why being crushed by a massive elevator shouldnt result in instant death, to be honest
Carver Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 By the same logic, a gunshot to the head would always instantly kill you - or a crowbar swing to the noggin would knock you out and cause severe brain damage in one swing. But ultra-realism isn't something we stick to for good reason.

Yeah, but the difference between those and walking into an elevator shaft is that it’s very difficult to just accidentally yourself into that position, whereas being shot in the head can be an RNG thing

Instant kills should be relegated to the realm of high-end bombs and ship-v-ship weapons (notably the Leviathan), and should never be something you accidentally die from.
Gem Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 PR is up. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/15468
Carver Posted December 30, 2022 Author Posted December 30, 2022 Thank you; I do appreciate the added door, but I do not consider it a solution to this suggestion to remove the gibbing/mob deletion.

Yeah. It doesn't really help that if someone does get squished it just is a complete deletion. Would like to see some change.
WickedCybs Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Given that it's preventable and will be to an even greater extent with Gem's PR, I don't really see a reason to remove consequences like this and it doesn't make sense to be intact afterward. Would be like surviving after having an entire ship land on you after you walked onto a hangar pad. 1
