Noble Row Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 As the title suggests, after an absolute shit-show of a round, I suggest antags should be required to be pitted against each other in some way in a Tower Defense round. When the antags came together, they were near unstoppable. Poor security did not have options, it just did not seem like a fun round for those outside of the gimmick. I do not have too much to say otherwise, but 5 Mercs, 4 Raiders, 2 Ninjas is just too much for security. Especially so when most of security that readies up also have their antag preferences on. I would appreciate comments on this. The round happens so rarely that it may be up to debate, but as playing as an antag during that round, for me, it just did not seem fun for anyone else. And when I play antag, I want for everyone to have fun. Antags are in a sense, the entertainment for the round, and should strive to make the round as fun as possible for the crew by providing challenge, intrigue, and opposition. 1 1 Quote
Carver Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 To the contrary, I adored that round. It was one of the more gripping rounds I've participated in in some time (and not as Security or an Antagonist, mind you), at least until there was some issue with the ninjas just randomly going violent near the very end. I'd quite like to see more of those types of rounds where the crew have to be inventive, work together and be the underdog for once. 1 Quote
Butterrobber202 Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 No. The reason tower defense is locked behind such a large ready count is so the crew has the numbers needed to resist the antagonists, even if they join forces and coordinate with one another. Antagonist versus Antagonist is not a better solution than the crew simply losing or being put in a tight spot once in a rare blue moon. Instead, antagonists should be encouraged to escalate immediately if their goal is to unite and hit the Horizon as a coordinate group. 1 Quote
Kintsugi Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 (edited) No. Antagonists are not there to antagonize each other, they are there to antagonize the crew and drive the narrative in an interesting direction/tell an interesting story. I would much rather we outright remove Tower Defense (which I do not want us to do, mind you) than gimp it by turning into an antag vs. antag gamemode. The crew has won tower defense rounds before, even with all the antagonists against them. It's not impossible. Edited June 8, 2023 by DanseMacabre 1 Quote
Fluffy Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 No, I believe we should instead have (and make more common to) deputize the crew and use the crew armory/ops/science to prepare to fight back threats that are sufficiently large to warrant that response, before waiting for all or most of command and/or sec to have been downed. 3 Quote
Peppermint Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 No. Antag vs antag is almost always a really bad idea and I generally tell people not to do it without ahelping first. They just get crushed. Quote
