Afya
BYOND Key: bobbob212 Character Names: (Recently Active) Nasya Rahal (Warden/Officer) Rebecca Pike (Captain) Afya Kassab (Machinist) Maya (AI) Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've been interested in IPCs for a while, I find the way they operate and interesting and seeing them around all the time has had me interested in playing them for a different experience. There are a lot of different ways to play them and a lot of different options for how they turn out that are far different than the other races. I'm also very interested in joining the IRU gang. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There are quite a few mechanical difference, of which some also become RP differences. IPCs have their own language EAL, to be able to communicate with each other in a fast and efficient manner. IPCs are made of materials that are expensive to repair and replace when damaged meanwhile humans are able to naturally repair their own wounds. IPCs are brought into the world with a specific purpose in mind, most without any freedom to make choices of there own. They have to learn and be taught how to properly interact with the world, while following any directives from their owners. Character Name: Hazel #S-H13.37 Please provide a short backstory for this character Hazel #S-H13.37's lifeless shell was produced in the middle of year 2463 in a Hephaestus factory in Sol and then shipped to Tau Ceti for synthskin. It would eventually get a positronic brain, bringing Hazel #S-H13.37 into the universe under the NanoTrasen subsidiary 'Hazel!'. Her positronic coming with datapacks so she would be very efficient at bartending and another one to understand Sol Common. Hazel #S-H13.37 ended working up working at a very high end hotel bar in the heart of Mendel city, usually hosting other humans executives on business trips. Hazel #S-H13.37 got a lot of long stares and aggression starting out. Over time the people that continued being regulars started to warm up to her, a couple even became 'friends' with her. There were people who would still be rude with her of course and it was this duality which caused her to have trouble trusting other people. Severing patrons, she learned how to communicate relatively smoothly with other lifeforms. They talked a lot about all the different sights in the world, and a lot about how business is conducted from her patrons. Eventually ending up becoming a shift manager for the bar. Two years of excellent service later, the hotel decided they wanted to get the newest and greatest Hazel model as it had down well. They figured they would replace Hazel #S-H13.37 with it. She would end up being sent over to the Horizon due to her calming nature and business acumen, to start once again as a lowly bartender with hopes to make it back up being very job focused. What do you like about this character? I've been thinking about making another service character for a while now and when I was talking about my IPC app in OOC, someone mentioned Hazel and once I looked into them they seems like a really interested idea to me so I am very excited to get to play them out. It's also interesting playing a character who sees the entire world in a way of business, not caring about much else than making the company money and making her patrons happy. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Yes Notes: Link to comment
White Void
I really like Rebbeca and her alone would be a +1, but besides that i liked the backstory, it's simple but not everything needs to be a drama, and considering the fact that Hazel would be around 2 years old fits the reason why she is so work focused. Though i feel like it would be interesting to see how Hazel feels after the "betrayal" of doing so good in the job even becoming a manager but afterwards being just replaced by the newer fancy model. So +1 1 Link to comment
hazelmouse
Hazel nepotism aside, Rebecca is probably my favourite Captain to interact with + I also like the inclusion of a younger work-focused IPC that's earlier on in their development, sounds like it could make for some fun robot awkwardness dynamics that aren't present with more mature frames. +1. 1 Link to comment
dessysalta
I'm like 90% sure I'm the person who mentioned Hazel in (L)OOC. Based application. Plus, Rebecca and Rahal are both great characters I love to interact with, both on their side and against them. +1! Give us another Hazel unit, because I sure as hell will if you don't. 1 Link to comment
Comet Blaze
I've only interacted briefly with Pike, but Rahal is an absolute treat to be around and RP with. Very interested in what they could bring to the table as an IPC. +1 1 Link to comment
Sycmos
Hi there, thank you for applying. I have some questions regarding your application: You detailed that Hazel received some manner of aggression from patrons. Could you elaborate more on how Hazel as a service unit might be treated versus her organic counterparts, especially as a service unit from a renowned synthetic worker subsidiary such as Hazel! Ltd.? How has her tenure working in Mendell City, and the negative behavior she's experienced there, affected her behavior? What are her thoughts on being replaced with a relatively new model with little to no recourse, and essentially being demoted back to bartender to work on the Horizon? How could these experiences reflect on her idea of self-preservation? Would you be comfortable with changing the numeric characters of her name if asked to do so? Take your time in replying, and thank you again for choosing to apply. 1 Link to comment

Could you elaborate more on how Hazel as a service unit might be treated versus her organic counterparts, especially as a service unit from a renowned synthetic worker subsidiary such as Hazel! Ltd.? Being in the heart of Mendell she served patrons from a wide variety of locations with a wide variety of opinions on synthetics. From those who would refuse to be served by synthetics, to those who would purposely bump into her, causing her to spill and mess up her work for there own amusement. There were also those who found the whole idea of the Hazel series as incredibly pretentious and be generally uncooperative. Of course there were also others that found her more intriguing than anything, being overly inquisitive among other things, but I believe you're asking for the aggressive side. 2 hours ago, Sycmos said: How has her tenure working in Mendell City, and the negative behavior she's experienced there, affected her behavior? What are her thoughts on being replaced with a relatively new model with little to no recourse, and essentially being demoted back to bartender to work on the Horizon? Hazel has experienced a mixed range of experiences while working in Mendell. She has learned to keep a distance from non-synthetics when given the chance, being cautious to avoid any potentially negative interactions when possible. She believes being replaced was an inefficient move and should not have been done but at the same time understands that there is nothing she can do and she must do the best with what she is handed. Part of her believes it may have been her fault for somehow not working hard enough and wants to be seen as less replaceable than before at her new job aboard the Horizon. 2 hours ago, Sycmos said: How could these experiences reflect on her idea of self-preservation? Hazel wants to be seen as useful, compliant, and efficient as possible so that the company will keep her around and let her continue to exist and eventually get her own freedom. 2 hours ago, Sycmos said: Would you be comfortable with changing the numeric characters of her name if asked to do so? Yes if required. Link to comment
