SleepyWolf
BYOND Key: Sleepy Wolf Character Names: Melody Davis, Wolfgang Freeman, Katie Stone, How long have you been playing on Aurora: A year and a half at most, year at minimum Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): A dark blue-tinted black. Sort of like crow feathers? Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Tajara are pretty cool, based on how they had all that rebelion and blood-leader stuff. Basically, I just find everything about Tajara interesting, from the kitty stuff to the ability to express yourself with your ears, and speak in Siik'Maas and shit. Furthermore, most of my friends play as Tajara and I'm usually left being the only human just sorta... sitting ... listening to the purring... I'd like to be more involved in the RP, is a major reason. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They have all that rebellion stuff in their history, and the blood heirs, and religion and all that. They have a different body-type and the ability to /emote/ with your /ears/. I'm seriously just happy about the ability to express my characters emotions in non-repititious ways. Character Name: Daja Maheel Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs As a girl, Daja had only ever seen Tajara that were her family, or traders from other clans. Her life was secluded, near one of the great mountains of Adhomai. The world was just that mountain, and that family, no one else. Then, the Snow God sent Daja on a journey she wouldn't like. She sent the mountain down onto her family while Daja was praying at an altar inside of one of the mines. The exit was blocked, and she spent a month feasting off of the cave-creatures that had made home in this small crevice in the mountain. On the 29'th day, she'd finally lost it and started clawing at the rock, begging to be let out. She clawed, and she clawed, and then the cave collapsed on her. She awoke, seconds later, next to a NanoTrasen Designated Mining Drill, and cried. She scowered the automated drill, searching for any means of communication, and saw a large red button. She slammed it, hoping for a emergency signal to be sent out. Luckily, that's exactly what it was. A Nanotrasen engineer responded to the call, finding the dark-furred Tajaran covered in soot, piss, and blood. Five months later, and she's somehow found her way to Biesel, working for NT and trying to forget her //sorta cliche// past. What do you like about this character? All of my other characters have been human, and real big snobby bitches. This'll give me a chance to not be a snobby bitch! How would you rate your role-playing ability? Average, on par with all the other players on the server. I use emotes heavily, so /shrug/ Notes: My first app, so please tell me if there's /anything/ I can do to make this better. Thanks. Killerhurtz
Really sorry, but -1. While Wolf isn't a terrible RPer, he's still rather uninspired (it feels like, as he has hinted, that most of his characters are pretty much a template of one another) - and it shows in his lackluster presentation. Tajarans, being especially communicative, most likely wouldn't be properly reflected yet in his play. If he shows, in the future, the ability to increase his character variety while being human, I will change my vote. But until then, he has to work on his characters. Link to comment
SleepyWolf
My characters being bitchy isn't a flaw that should affect your vote, but I understand. I can easily have character variety, I just choose not to because there's really nothing I want to change about the characters, and I have made a non-bitchy character, just never play them. I enjoy the 'bad' characters more than my good ones. Really sorry if that's what came out on the paper, it's my first time making one of these so it's hard to explain /everything/ in one small application without other people putting in their speech. Thanks for the feedback! Hope this changes your view. Link to comment
Killerhurtz
It does not, because my complaint was not about your characters being bitchy, but BECAUSE of your lack of variety. I don't think a simple "Tajaran Stone" would be of much benefit to the station, and we have no evidence that you can do anything else. That's my main point. There's also the generic/mary-sue-ness of your sheet, but that's mostly a detail if you could show you had a lot of variety. Link to comment
SleepyWolf
I have characters that have variety, as much variety as a Human can get with living in a human area. If I could make a human that spoke Siik'Maas, I would. They'd've grown up in Little Adhomai and been the most polite little scientist or cargo tech he could be. But I'm sorta bound to what I want to play/ have the ability to play, and what I have the /most/ need for, is playing at Daja with her experience in Tajaran culture. I'm sorry if I'm going off track, and what's so mary-sue about my character? She'd be weak, and a miner or engineer. No super human attacks or 12 years of weapon expertise. Thanks for the feedback again. Link to comment
Killerhurtz
No, but the whole "have a tragedy SUDDENLY someplace nice" is pretty sue. Also, as far as variety goes, I'm not convinced - I've seen Aaron who is a miner who doesn't give a fuck, Robert who's a bit of a manchild and deeply in love with a robot, Essel being Essel, Ezra being a down-to-earth no-bullshit guy, Moon being a chill yet authoritative person, Lachina being a fun but smooth woman, Aleksandra being a bouncy-as-fuck warden... There's plenty variety to be had in human characters. You just have to find a few more characters of your own. Link to comment
SleepyWolf
I can easily replace the 'tragic' backstory, but it's in the span of 6 months before first arriving on station, and gives reason for a new Tajaran, straight from Adhomai, to be on station. It's adding character to her, and making room for RP. And, Melody had a ton of stuff going on, I don't think you've ever talked to her besides on the radio, because she's way more than what she is, and completely different than Stone in terms of what's below the surface. Melody's a rich girl who's had it all her whole life, and is dependant on others, and Stone is almost the complete opposite. They're just the same on the surface, such is the way of people when you first meat them. Link to comment
witchbells
I'll vouch for Sleepy, because I think they deserve this. Developing characters is a difficult and lengthy process for some people. Some characters have to be left in a little dish to culture for a while until they're fully fleshed out - If you'll excuse the metaphor. I don't think we should close off Sleepy because of their difficulty with developing characters. They're a good roleplayer, and they deserve this opportunity. Link to comment
Guest
Agreeing with Nursie. Developing characters isn't as easy for some people as it is for others. Sleepy's proved to make in-depth and actually entertaining characters despite Killer's claims. The application has my endorsement. Link to comment
