mirkoloio Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Lemme toss something in here. Ninjas ARE killable. It just needs time and organisation. If the Ninja runs out of power in a fight they are dead. Like, It happened to me. I was fully charged and upgraded. Went into fight with ERT and they pwned me because I wasted my power on the ninja star too often. Ninjas are very vulnerable to that. Turn off the power and you can rot them out. No power means no ninja abilities
Conservatron Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 i had a great ninja round (not aurora) where i decided to fuck my objectives and remove the shoes and hats from everyone on the station. it worked well until the hos shot me full of lethals because he was pissed i took his shoes.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I've played ninja before just not on authors. Its so freaking fun.
Frances Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 People saying ninja is terrible People saying ninja is great Can we look at that, and maybe accept that trying to push our opinion as an absolute one, while saying that everyone else is wrong, is maybe not the best way to proceed? I wouldn't be surprised if people were simply divided about the game mode - much like people can be very divided about nuke, rev, cult, any other antag mode, or heck, anything that's not extended. I believe the best situation would be to put ninja on trial, after fixing the issues people have highlighted. (Stealth is OP? Nerf dat.) That way, everyone can get an accurate portrayal of what ninja rounds would be like on Aurora, in the year 2015, with the balance we'll have chosen to enforce. And people can make up their minds then.
Nik Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 But with how this works, no one will really make a fuss about it except for brief moments whenever we end up with the mode. Said mode would need like twenty people at the least, otherwise it's a game of gank.
Frances Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 But with how this works, no one will really make a fuss about it except for brief moments whenever we end up with the mode. Make a fuss about it? I don't understand, what do you mean by that? I don't think the rework/polishing of an entire gamemode is a change that can be "swept under the rug". In my mind, an update would pretty much go: -Ninja is updated, maybe polished so it looks shiny and people realize once again that it exists, whatever we can do to help it gain traction -People play several rounds of ninja during a trial period -Feedback is provided, we decide whether to keep/add it in secret rotation, or leave it on vote only There's not really any room in this system for people to say "meh, I don't really care, add it in". There would be a period of discussion and debating, with feedback being provided by people who liked or disliked the mode.
Guest Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Baystation currently has an extensively updated (some would argue more overloaded but it costs more to utilize everything rather than using one or two tools at a time) ninjasuit interface that functions well enough for any codebase to port it in. It just needs time and effort to want to implement this for our codebase. Bay's ninja is arguably 10x gooder than the outdated ninja we have. In addition, the ninjasuit interface is NanoUI based. Praise. However, ninja as it exists now is rather sloppy, ugly, and not very fun to use. You can't even phase jaunt or throw energy webs at people wtf. So, yeah, it needs finetuning before I can consider it fun+acceptable to roleplay well enough.
Guest Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I like Ninja and Wizard, please stop talking for everyone else. Start a poll before you throw out what "everyone" thinks. Also calm down it's literaly only game mode. Anyway I think that if we are able to grab good ninja players we'll have good ninja rounds. It's true of any mode - though usually on deadhour, because slowly picking off the crew and fostering an atmosphere of terror is easier without 20 people being sassy in the general radio. Try playing during dead hour, you'll get to see it a lot. You're not taking into account that everyone votes it because they want to be one, a good deal of players go off, SSD or just moan after ninja is chosen. Same goes for wizard, except it gets chosen vastly more often than any other gamemode. It usually ends with a bunch of horseheads, monsters and slimes everywhere or simply a lasered wizard due to how annoying they get to deal with. As for 'talking for everyone else', if you haven't seen ninja on Aurora you're kinda out of the loop about how much it actually sucks. A good ninja player dragged me through the hallways, invisible, at high speed. Security could do jack shit about it. I've actually played as one, once. Even the fact that the station had no power didn't mean anything as I made sure that there are places at which I can recharge. I could easily teleport, annoy people and evade security, without being seen at all. It kinda ended when I had to go so Admins let me activate the nuke, which ended the round. Only certified way to deal with them is blind fire, hoping to hell that they don't dodge lasers and bullets. And I will kindly ask you not to jump to conclusions about my anger levels and tell me to calm down, it's disrespectful and does the oposite. It's time we agree that antaging has been very bad on Aurora for a while now. Best way to start fixing it, is by removing one of the worst gamemodes acording to my imaginary poll which I've kinda made up in my head after six months of constantly having to deal with annoying, poorly RPed, immersion breaking and ganky wizards. Not to mention having to listen people moan about how shitty wizard is.
Crescentise Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Requesting staff - or someone else, not sure how polls work - to put up polls for both adding ninja to secret and removing wizard from secret. Whether or not the majority vote will be implemented is another story, but in my opinion it would be useful in order to gain an accurate feel for what forum-goers think. I personally want wizard out of secret rotation, and have no opinion about ninja. Also: 'calm down', from experience, is a useless statement that only serves to rile up the target. Particularly if the person was calm to begin with. Please don't do it.

Add ninja to Secret rotation (The dev team will look into the possibility of tweaking/nerfing/heavily modifying the ninja gear, most likely.) Or B. Do not add ninja to Secret rotation; keep it limited to its own game mode. (Nothing will be changed unless another post is created specifically requesting another aspect of it be changed, in accordance with the, 'one suggestion/request' per discussion rule.)

Serveris Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 No polls, feedback required The dev team will look into the possibility of tweaking/nerfing/heavily modifying the ninja gear <- needs doing anyway Noted. I feel the biggest problems outlined on this thread are the fact that ninjas possess an instastun weapon(the energy shuriken that instant knockdown whoever they hit, with almost no delay, with only a very small amount of energy required to use them), and are capable of attacking people while cloaked (meaning no one can actually target them. Your only choice in fending them off is to unload a gun into where you believe them to be standing, and let's be honest, not everyone has a gun, let alone one that has the stopping power to deter/scare off someone like this.)
