How long have you been playing on Aurora?
Since about September 20th, 2022-ish?

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?
One warning about bad antag play from over a year ago.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?
Heads of Staff are in my opinion the in-game version of DnD masters, who are also playing the game and want to interact. Everyone wants to have fun, but it requires a certain persons or group of people. Heads of Staff are not invincible, and are expected to be targeted. They serve a functionality as well, like communicating with their department and other heads of staff, which include their department too. They determine code levels and how to best determine them during each round, and even talking with staff on why a code level is warranted.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?
I think that Command players hold a similar responsibility to Staff members, which I am one. It's a role that I take very seriously OOC and want to further pursue IC as a command role. I find it very important to be able to understand each role taken as command to be able to explain to any subordinate how they should work their job. Other players should look to them for communication and reassurance of what is happening in the round/gamemode type.

Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon.
Jackson Fernand, used to be a low-life nobody aboard the ICV-Nobodies. He worked as an engineer and pilot when necessary, otherwise managed the food supplies. Managed to leave that shithole ship and move on to working in the The Frontier Protection Bureau, the Coalition Rangers. After working many years of engineering and piloting, sick of working for militaristic people, he decided to move on looking for work. Finding an offer from the SCCV Horizon, wanting an opening on an "Operations Manager", which meant running logistics and tasking miners? That's a job he would take and know.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?
Operations Manager

Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?
Yes

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking:
Jackson Fernand - Operations Manager

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?
Yes

Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums?
Yes

As a member of The Regime I am obligated to support other Regime members.

I as a person with no gun to the back of my head think that Jasorn is a great member of staff and am surprised he does not have a command WL yet

Jasorn is very knowledgeable when it comes to how different departments work. Though he is an operations main and dabbles in service, he also knows a great deal about Medical, Engineering, and Security-- and he is always open to advice and assistance with anything he doesn't know. Given that his IPC application was accepted with no qualms, I'd also say he is well-informed on basic lore. I have no doubt that Jasorn would be an excellent command player.

All my experiences with Jasorn OOC and IC have been very positive and enjoyable and I'm quite confident he'd be very capable in command. I also think him having substantive experience playing as an antagonist is promising for knowing how to play with them as command without dashing the pacing of the gimmick. +1

I've been playing alongside Jasorn for the better part of 1.5 years, having seen both antag and non-antag versions of each character they play (to my knowledge; my memory isn't perfect), and to be honest I don't know how much I support their command app. I've mostly seen Barnes than anything, who strikes me as a character you can have a conversation with for several hours and still not have discussed anything worthwhile or meaningful. Antagonist gimmicks that Jasorn is a part of have him in a supporting role (which, while not necessarily bad, leaves him as feeling somewhat one-note and lacking initiative when done so much) or deferring to bland and uninspired attempts at driving conflict (for instance, I've only ever seen Barnes behave in a gung-ho, loud and violent manner as a traitor with emotionally unattached motives or as a vampire or changeling who always plays the part of a captivating miscreant who instantly kills and eats whoever is on the other end of their wrath).

I don't mean this as a personal attack, and maybe I'm wrong (I took some months off as a break quite recently, so the disconnect could very well be there.); I would need to see them play in a command position for awhile. I fear with the gimmicks they promote, a lack of security play (from what I've seen, but Jasorn can reply if they've given the role a chance), and the characters they write that they would abuse command privilege and shut down antagonist gimmicks.

I appreciate the concern, and I do agree my antag play in the past has been very lackluster, and even had a warning for it. I have since then moved on to either not playing antag or waiting for a specific engaging idea before enabling my prefs for one. As for my characters being not worthwhile or meaningful to talk to for hours... I'm not sure what you mean by that as I can't say we've interacted IC much at all outside my bad antag play ages ago. I have no intention of abusing command power to shut down antag gimmicks, I've always loved to try to help them escalate in a reasonable way, and especially being a moderator now it would really be dumb to pull something like that?

On trial until 13 September 2024. Remember, during this time you are allowed to (and recommended) to advertise your application once per round in OOC to gather feedback. Good luck!

My perspective is limited to a member of Operations and I haven't seen how Jasorn handles antags, but I can confidently say he knows how to lead a department. A recurring behavior I appreciate is how Fernand always provides the crew with shortwave radios during emergencies where telecomms are down. I can't say I remember another head of staff ever doing this, and it's exactly the type of contribution an Operations Manager should be making as head of supply. As a character, I also enjoy what I've seen of Fernand, particularly his seedier side; he shows hints of the crookedness you'd expect from a corporate stooge, yet without being blatant or overbearing. Altogether, Jasorn plays a good head of staff and I look forward to seeing more of his OM. +1
