Guest
This is pretty clear-cut in simple in what I think would be neat. Hybrid tasers have two modes: electrode and beam. Electrode is rather standard and pretty much identical to the current tasers we have. It's a single, moving projectile that upon making impact with a mob, inflicts a large amount of halloss (about 60) and has pretty poor accuracy at longer ranges. They don't go through windows and such (special cases excluded). You get 5 electrode shots. Beam pretty much shares the same mechanics as laser-based projectiles. It fires and hits instantly, is slightly more accurate but inflicts very low amounts of halloss, 20 per shot. Beams can be shot to hit targets through windows, but lose lots of accuracy when shot through them. You can fire more beams as opposed to electrodes in a taser gun due to the whole strength vs. capacity formula. They're probably a lot better against unarmored targets and for slowing them down to close the distance. Thoughts? Link to comment
Guest
Isn't this just a pistol? It's already in. Link to comment
Guest
Isn't this just a pistol? It's already in. I forgot about that and I just checked, it is. M1911-P, the pulse pistol has pulse, kill, and 'stun' which is just a beam. Link to comment
Guest
But is this in the map? No, I wants it. Link to comment
Guest
No you are not getting the pulse rifle which is what you are referring to. What I am talking about is literally called pistol, with stun and lethal as settings. Link to comment

I wasn't suggesting the pulse rifle. This one? Are you talking about this one? Link to comment
Guest
Yes, just checked it's called an energy pistol, it's used by ERT, PD, HoP, and Captain (Maybe HoS?) This is a energy pistol. It is a normal-sized item.A basic energy-based pistol with two settings: Stun and kill. It's not the M1911-P, the P stands for pulse which is the pulse rifle/ Link to comment

Not a taser that fires lethals and stun projectiles like the energy pistol. They want an option for the current projectile, and a weaker version of the taser beam shot used on standard baycode that acts like a laser, as in, it goes through windows and is 'hitscan' for the most part. OP can correct me if I'm wrong here. Link to comment
Skull132
My initial thoughts are no. Glass being able to stop tasers is important, very much so. I've always been opposed to the idea of having beamed tasers in favour of forcing sec into closer confrontations. Link to comment
Frances
IIRC Skull was against adding taser beams because of balance issues - it's not really a problem of tasers vs lethals, if I'm not wrong (seeing as lasers have a very low TTK anyway), but of tasers vs nothing. Do I recall any instances where I was able to get away from tasers because of windows? No. I don't really see the /purpose/ of bothering to add this either, for the same reason. Might just be me, though. Edit: and yeah Skull just posted lmao Link to comment

Haruspex was being good old Haruspex and attacking people as an antagonist. The windowed state of the medical bay lobby gave us a few good shots (we used lasers instead, because we had them) that would have otherwise been blocked by windows. Same round, earlier. Paulson is caught in the in the glass area in the far right of the HoP's office, with a sec officer on the left, more open side of the office. Once again, he gets lasered (because we had been hunting him with lethals for 20+ minutes at that point). Now, the argument isn't going to be: "WE COULD HAVE TAKEN HIM ALIVE! WE NEED TO ADD THIS!" -- we had kill orders for both, and neither would have come down without a fight. Plus, flashbangs exist. But just to demonstrate that windows do play an important tactical role. Link to comment

Skull132
...yes, I know. But, as I said, these are examples of potential tactical scenarios where having tasers that go through glass would make a difference. Link to comment
