Player Complaint: Callum99877 and Draculabot

Recommended Posts

As previously stated by the person who made the complaint;

This complaint is about two people who have failed to meet the appropriate standards for a Head of Staff role. Nothing more, nothing less. Please try to keep it clear of shit by mocking me and claiming my character is awful, and I will show you the same courtesy.

If we could keep it focused on the issues of hand instead of trying to turn it on the person who made the complaint, that would be great.

Allow me to put my two cents in, all parties are at fault here. Despite what a person has done on other servers, he should be judged solely on his merit in-game if he has demonstrated that he is interested in playing with us. This complaint should have been treated with an incident report in my opinion. Really, everyone should attempt to improve their behaviour or retire their character.

Attimus Vin'drahl

Attimus represents the Officer that sullies the name of Security. Attempting to be too edgey, or a bad boy is not what you should join Security for. Using things such as grabs and punches to disable criminals is highly frowned upon, as opposed to flashes and batons. Security Officers should not attempt to instigate fights with any members of the crew, such as name-calling or bullying. You are a professional, but neither are you some paramilitary special operative. Attimus is a normal officer, who comes home and lives a normal life. Simple.

Rebbeca Mcgrath

Rebbeca represents the militant engineer who goes about kicking ass and taking names. This is stupid, I am guilty of this myself, and that is why I don't play engineering. However, everyone is entitled to play any role that they wish, but engineering militia is pushing it. Her overly aggressive behaviour is unfit for a Head of Staff. Openly being confrontational and attacking people for calling them names is pushing it. It's okay to play hot-heads, look at Roy for example. But, Roy doesn't go and attack 7'5" lizard because he called him names.

Beyond the hipocrisy which I previously pointed out - I will agree to this.

Throwing a neurotic tantrum and trying to beat the shit out of corporate security because you were told to stop flirting on duty as the Chief Engineer is absolutely ridiculous. Draculabot didn't even remotely address the concern raised by AVOS or at least try to justify why the CE would go on a lesbian viking rampage the moment someone tells her to stop flirting with people.

Erza Scott, as I pointed out in a previous thread, and as has been pointed out in a complaint aimed at Callum last week simply doesn't communicate with any department, especially his own. He's quiet, he doesn't direct his officers, he randomly jumps to the frontline of every conflict without even telling anyone where he is. A round with Erza Scott as the head of security is a round without a Head of Security (Untill you find his corpse.).

The rest of the complaint, though. Not enforcing the law to its fullest extent? Encouraging a lax crew? Pursuing ERP?

Those aren't really bannable offenses. They're personal opinions, nobody's really obliged to follow them.

Thread being derailed due to sarcasm and sardonic statements. Pls stop and focus on the two in the complaint?

Issues are;

1. The actions displayed by McGrath towards the player who made this complaint, including the repeated insults and assault.

2. The incompetence displayed by Scott in proper Security procedure/treatment of other players.

3. The apparent grudging from Scott towards the player in seeming repeated attempts to put the player out of the round in different ways.

4. Whitelisted heads of staff not being held to a higher standard by fellow heads of staff and crewmembers ICly, and on the forums OOCly.

5. Instant dismissal of the complaint by one of those involved as 'ridiculous'.

If I may say, let's deal with the complaint and not level insults at the person making the complaint. There's the issues there, all lined up neatly.

can we please address these issues? If you can't stay on target without dispensing unnecessary ad hominem (whether you like the OP or not is completely irrelevant, you're not helping this complaint at all by flinging feces at each other), then don't post.

Okay. Now that's out of the way, I'll outline my viewpoints here.

1.) Was not here for this, or I simply didn't care because it didn't affect me. However, given that what you described is a recurrent behavior pattern, I'm willing to say this likely happened and it's a shame that it did.

2.) I'll say this, as a fellow head of security player. My method of operation is different, it's considered effective in a different way. My MO is built to adapt on a case-by-case basis. Other people might not see success with my own MO as my MO is tailored to myself so that I can work the best way I can and attempt to get best case scenarios out of it. It would be unfair to demand of people to be flawless examples of heads of staff, because people are constantly learning and adapting creatures. In order to figure out what works, you need to fail numerous times in order to figure out what works best. I have heard of Ezra Scott not being the best head of security, but I cannot comment on it as I've never been under their command myself. I will say this, though. It is very likely they do not have an outlined, very specific MO they adhere to for themselves. As a result, they may not be very effective to begin with. However, it is insulting to make judgments of characters and then turn around to fling more shit at their player, who likely does not know better or how best to deal with every single issue, which by all accounts, is impossible for me to do, and that hasn't changed with anyone. People are going to hit deadends or not know how to deal with an issue, people are going to fail one way or another. However, this is also a good thing, because there's a chance that person is going to learn something from it and take precautions to avoid failing again.

3.) As a Duty Officer, it has already been made apparent that an injunction was filed between the two parties (McGrath and the entire Scott family). At any point in time do they break that injunction, it becomes a DO IC issue as well as an admin issue because of recurrent metagrudging behavior. So keep that in mind whenever you have a solid case to bring against them.

4.) Okay, here's my suggestion, AVoS and everyone else running around with their heads on fire here. Apply for a head of staff whitelist, with a different character, preferably, because Attimus is rather unpopular. Get it accepted, and then come onto the head of staff boards and tell us (e.g., everyone with a head of staff whitelist) what you think the standards we should be held to as opposed to the ones we have now.

5.) It's whatever, but you all need to realize that people, one way or another, are not always going to agree with each other on every single thing nor are they going to be inclined to consider what another person says because they're X loud or Y edgy or Z levels of so-entitled-to-their-own-opinion-they-are-undeniably-correct-and-everyone-else-is-wrong.

6.) We are all humans here. Treat each other like it.

This is the last warning I will give.

Stay on topic, and do not fight each other. If you do not have anything nice to say to each other, don't say it at all. Failure to drop the attitude will result in your forum privileges taken away. You all can disagree and still have a mature discussion, being dicks to each other is not going to be tolerated.

The progression of this thread went from efficient to beyond dumb.

1) Original post.

2) Note from staff, about staff.

3) Targets of complaint respond.

4) Not resolved at this stage, okay, fine.

5) Assorted shit-flinging.

6) Assorted shit-flinging dies down.

7) A billion posts saying "guys stop shit-flinging!!1".

8) As with 7), but from a staff member.

Can this, maybe, get relevant staff intervention now? Please?

Your cue, Tish.

Why thank you, Crescentise.

Now that everybody's had a chance to calm down, I'll be contacting involved players over the next few days to have a chat with them, get information, and then I will cross reference server logs with the information I have gathered. If Callum and Dire feel that Vision really is "lying" or "misinterpreting facts", then neither of the two should have something to fear. That being said, if others that may have been involved in the fiasco between the characters on-server have anything to say, then feel free to chime in or message me personally on the forums or BYOND, but keep it relevant. I only want to hear what happened IC'ly because the crux of this issue is IC behavior of whitelisted players. Anything irrelevant to it will be deleted if on the forums or will be dismissed if on a forum PM or BYOND message.

I've seen and had a lot of negative experiences with Callum. Whenever he'd play as a head, he just goes quiet and strolls around somewhere or sits and does nothing almost entire shift. He doesn't have a very good thinking when playing as a heads of staff in my opinion as well, just leaves the problems aside and lets others handle them, when he's mostly needed for everything. His characters tend to get into a lot of drama, in just the matter of moments, whether it'd be someone hanging around with Karenza's girlfriends, then throwing unnecessary anger, being suicidal in just over a period of a week with that character after it's start. A female Scott that usually followed Niklaus Nox, getting into trouble and then talking how everything is useless (happened a couple of rounds, can't say that it's almost entire time). I really wish that he would get off playing as a head for some time and try to observe what other heads of staff players are doing.

Draculabot? Never had an issue with her, she's a good player and a head, Marco Farrera, "The Takeda", had great experiences. I did however, watch when McGrath was a CE, it was very poor, but I don't see her going as CE with that character anymore, I'm all okay with her if she's not playing McGrath as CE constantly, McGrath should stay as a regular engineer.

I'm not going to say that AVS done nothing bad, sure he's been doing something that got Dracula's and Callum's nerves, can get punished for it if they'd make a complaint about him and get evidence somehow, if anyone's willing to do that. I'm staying with the threads topic. This is honestly the first complaint I've seen everyone going ballistic on each other and just directing everything bad about Attimus Vin'drahl and the player of it, instead of trying to solve a problem :/ , kind of changes opinions around players.

Can you present examples of any of this? All of these traits are not bad per se, at least not without context.

Like, delegating tasks isn't necessarily bad, HoSes are allowed to have a temper depending on what they get upset at, a character can become suicidal due to justified IC drama, and the rest is sorta vague and left to interpretation. It would be better to have clear and solid evidence, if you wanna bring up a problem with these characters.

Numerous complaints about Callum and some incident reports can give you the idea. If I had logs, I'd sure post them, but why would I want to keep track of every single of Callum's actions when I'm playing?

Previous reported incidents can serve as a good base to gauge a player's character, but we mustn't fall to the trap of using a lot of unsubstantiated reports to build accusations.

The only thing I've really been able to realize from this thread (and the last complaint involving Callum) is that he seems to have some communicative issues with others (which is quite surprising for a mod.) The rest of this is muddy at best and could really be expanded on.

Well, it's been over a month since anyone has posted in this, so unless anyone has any further remarks, I'll get around to locking it as inactive after about 24 hours, give or take sleep.
