Wer6 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 To my dearest friends Through the evil noise of artillery, tanks, and planes I remember out adventures, our friendship and.. your pain. My closest friend, Emile, in your twilight years, he came to fight, not for glory, but to mend your daughters tears. Lucky Freddy, you were always fearless and with intent. I hope you have found peace with your letters, that were never sent. Anna, my bravest in the western front, saving the mountain of wounded, without firing a shot. And Carl, if only I could light your way home through the fields of war, through treacherous nights, to be with your family once more. Although, I cannot write these words, and the time has come to part, your stories will always remain, as will your Valiant hearts. ~Walter~ This game. Made me cry. You follow a bunch of people in there story in war. I cried at the end Quote
canon35 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 This game made me cry, as hard as I did at the end of telltale's TWD game. Quote
Shadow Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Yes, it made me cry. Cry like a waterfall. Cried like I never did before for a videogame. Quote
Xelnagahunter Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Sadly, I've not played this game. FOr additional story driven games where you might attach to your characters and their stories look at "This War of Mine." It's a survival war game where you play as a group of civilians caught in the war going on. You have to deal with all sorts of crap all the while feeding, sheltering, and caring for the characters who can lose so much morale they commit suicide. Your actions have very direct impacts as well. It's a harsh game, but if you like heart touching games that show a gritty reality in the background of a game, this is for you. Quote
Vittorio Giurifiglio Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 0/10 didn't cover the Italian front Quote

Wer6 Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Also.. There is a lot of sybolic things. The little entry text I put? I think that's the dogs perspective. Also.. All the adults, have their eyes covered. The children, and the dog doesn't. Coincidence? I think not. Symbolic. Quote
hivefleetchicken Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I bet I won't cry Only movie/game I ever cried at was Click, come at me valiant farts Quote

"This War of Mine" tries waaaaaaaaaaay too hard. The people were obviously intended to be relatable, but giving me a snippet of backstory and a black and white headshot isn't enough to become attached to a character. I also hate how everyone's so goddamn mopey and at the same time, omniscient. "Oh noes, Bruno killed someone getting the supplies, and we somehow know this even though he probably has absolutely no reason to tell us and he hasn't even gotten in through the door yet. Time to be depressed and lock myself into my depressed animations for the entire day." You're supposed to be in the middle of a war, where you aren't specifically the targets. It should be more about actual survival and preparation rather than dealing with pseudo-human elements that don't seem very well done. I didn't even get an overarching "ultra-depressing" vibe while reading Anne Frank's diary, as much as I did playing TWoM. Quote
Rusty Shackleford Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Valiant Hearts, though, seems pretty good. I haven't finished it yet, but the little interspersed minigames keep things sorta more upbeat in between the story stuff. Which in itself seems a bit ludicrously simple. But in a good way. Quote
hivefleetchicken Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I beat it, wasn't that bad. I HATED the dog. Quote
