Jboy2000000 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 The tin, people seem happy to say IPC's are OP, but how is that even true? Apparently they're even "the most OP race" even though they're limited from EVA because they need to make a special item in one of the two autolathes on the station, need nanopaste to repair themselves, which only spawn in two places on the entire map, if you can't get that, you need science to make it, but at the same time a couple of EMP's, which you can buy several of from the traitor uplink, or easily make if you're a chemist, can screw you instant, not to mention the Ion rifles in security's armoury. So, how are IPC's OP? Quote

Lord Lag Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Duracell batteries. On a serious note, I think many peoples problem is that IPCs cant be flashed I believe? This seems to make up the major point in most peoples arguments. Quote

Frances Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but IPCs also take 50% reduced brute damage, and can't suffer broken limbs/infections. Anyway, the problem with EMPs is that you need to prepare for it. The ion rifle is the one of most cumbersome weapon there is, as well. But in most combat situations, you won't expect to go against one because you might not expect to have to fight at all. Like, even once, I made sure nuke ops brought along an ion rifle, and we got completely destroyed by an IPC that looked like a random tajaran because nobody realized how to fight them/it until after the fight was over. Alberyk Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 They don't need to breath. They feel no pain, which means they will keep fighting until the very end. They have no bones to be broken, They don't bleed. They don't sufffer from internal bleeding and organ damage. They don't process any kind of chemical. They can't be flashed. They can't have their eyes stabbed. They don't suffer from radiation. They can't be affected by any changeling stings. They can't get sick. They take far less brute damage. They take some extra seconds at no pressure before taking damage. They can fixed rather easily, just with welder and cables, or nanopaste. They can store chemicals inside their body, like a walking beaker. They can't be affected by genetics shenanigans. Just let me illustrate the situation for you; Urist MacAntag fires the revolver. Urist MacRobot is hit by the bullet in the chest! The ipc takes half of the damage, has no broken bones, damaged organs, no pain and no internal bleeding. Urist MacAntag fires the revolver. Urist MacPeople is hit by the bullet in the chest! The organic one has a broken chest, damaged organs, a lot of pain and probably a internal bleeding. Quote

Guest Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3604&start=20#p35586 I would suggest you all apply for an IPC whitelist and try to be IPCurity for a change against nuke ops, cult, or anything else, because the most of you don't know what you're talking about, or are exhibiting bias without a first-person understanding of how IPC mechanics work. Try getting into combat with a dude with a cult sword, I dare you. There are less ways to kill an IPC, but the fact remains that there are ways to make them suffer instead. Stop trying to outright kill them and start using the game mechanics present to cripple or disable them instead. Quote

You can't cause a breach to combat a single IPC because breaches actually take time to cause. Lack of healing isn't an issue as you don't see other races healing themselves mid-combat either. Your limbs can be blown up more easily but you only take half brute damage as compensation, making them equally if not harder to break through most traditional means. Pretty much the one common thing that has a chance to kill an IPC is a laser to the face, and that would kill anybody else anyway. What exactly are common weaknesses you find yourself encountering as an IPC, during combat situations? Quote

jackfractal Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I'm the one who did the shell update and I think they're OP. They have one downside which is the EMP thing, aside from that it's just tons of awesome upsides. Paradise handles their OP-ness by making them extremely vulnerable to brute damage. Rather than taking half, they take twice as much as an organic character. Also, their limbs fall off where they would break on an organic, meaning you can shoot their arms and legs off in one shot. And they're still pretty OP. Quote

What exactly are common weaknesses you find yourself encountering as an IPC, during combat situations? Â Not being able to heal, arm/hand damage frequently causes you to be unable to hold an object in your hands. You're basically reduced to have to punch someone when your arms start to malfunction. Burn damage is simple enough to do just with a welding tool. Also, even with their .5 brute modifier they're very easy to cripple via their limbs. Quote

Jboy2000000 Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 To put the ease of disarming, pun intended, IPC's by blowing their limbs off in perspective, Ive seen an someone use an e-pistol, the guns the HoP, captain and HoS are given, and blow the legs off an IPC with full sec gear in only two blasts, making them completely and utterly useless and defenseless since they can't even hold items because they can't stand. And the "ease of replacing limbs" thing is bloody stupid, you repace the limbs on IPC's the exact same way you replace limbs on humans/other. Quote
