Valkrae Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) Basic Information Byond Account: Valkrae Character Name(s): Robert Dalton, Shiela Maldin, Marcus Armstrong, Yuri Pavlov AI Name(s): VALKRYIE Preferred means of contact: Skype, Steam, or my phone. I'm not comfortable posting my personal phone number onto a public forum. PM me personally, and I'll give it to you. Age: 18 Timezone: Eastern -5 GMT When are you on Aurora?: When I’m on Aurora depends on the day. Weekends is usually as soon as I wake up, which is around 1 to 4 PM. Weekdays, however, I’m usually on the late night shift, from 11 PM to around 4 AM. On breaks from school, one can expect me on consistently from when I wake up, to around 2 to 3 AM in the morning. Experience My experience in moderation, or staffing of any sort of roleplay server comes from other sources. Those sources being Minecraft roleplay servers, and a skype RP group. The list of minecraft servers, however, is very extensive. The more heavily populated servers are: Aeonis, Ashes of Our Fathers, Akavir, Hareveth, and Darkahlen. How long have you played SS13?: I’ve played off and on for around 2 years now. How long have you played on Aurora: Around two to three months. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: In the two months I’ve played on Aurora, I’ve learned a good bit about the game. I’d suffice to say I know a working amount of the build, and have the means to find out anything needed that I need to know. Security, Robotics, and Cargo are the departments I know the most. I can easily pick up and learn any part of the build if given time, and sufficient knowledge. I like to consider myself a fast learner. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: None, however I assume that, aside from some commands and other coding differences, it's fairly the same as Minecraft, or general moderating in anything. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Yes, I have been banned. I was three day banned during an incident involving lag, a shovel, and an accidental death. I was also synth banned because I was being an idiot as a maintenance drone, and basically ignored my laws. I’ve since moved passed that stage, but I admit to everything on my notes as being my fault, and completely my fault. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play on Space Station 13 because I enjoy it’s complexity, and it’s possibility for heavy roleplay. It’s reminiscent of Wurm Online in how complex it is, but for free, and with a much tighter knit community. Why do you play on Aurora?: I play on Aurora for a variety of reasons. One reason is the quality of roleplay on this server. It’s honestly some of the best roleplay I’ve had in a long time. Another reason is how tightly knit, and close the community is. It’s so close together, but still willing to accept new members into the fold, like myself. What do moderators do?: A moderator’s job is to enforce the rules, and make sure that players can roleplay and play the game without hinderance. They also serve the server by answering any questions one might have. For instance, giving links to jobs that a person might be new at doing, or helping out someone who’s having technical issues. Moderator’s are the boots on the ground to deal with the server, enforcing, and by teaching. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Moderating on Aurora means helping the best server I’ve ever seen on SS-13. It means keeping the pristine condition that this server is in, by keeping away the griefers, and all other manners of people who would wish to do harm to the server. It also means being an example for everyone as a roleplayer, and a person in general. You have to set a good example for others to follow, whether that be through your own roleplay, or how you act in OOC chat. Being a moderator also means being able to answer any questions that may go through an adminhelp, or having the means to answer it in a short amount of time. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I want to make a difference, both on the server, and in the decisions the staff makes. I believe that I can help push the server to an even higher level. I also feel that I can keep the server secure from any bald griefer chemists that may happen to waltz through arrivals. I want to help keep this server secure, and fun for all who would take the time to play, and roleplay on it. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: Patience is one of my greatest virtues. I can sit down with someone, and talk an issue out, even if it takes hours. I don’t anger easily, and I don’t rush to judgement. I try and listen to every side of an argument before making a decision. I don't bias between players. If a friend of mine breaks a rule, He'll get the same punishment as some stranger that I've never met before. I don't deal with corrupt staff members, and I don't tolerate it in anyone, especially myself. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I brush insults off. It’s stupid to worry about dumb things like that. I’m not an angry person, I take stress in stride. The only stress I ever have trouble with is school stress, and even then, my current school work isn’t a whole lot. In the rare occasion I do get unfathomably angry, I will remove myself from the situation until such a time that I am sufficiently calmed down to resume my duties. Anything Else You Want to Add: Ever since I’ve joined Aurora, I’ve had a great time playing. From the amazing quality of RP on the server, to the hilarity of the teamspeak shenanigans. It’d be a wondrous opportunity to help keep this community at the level that I see it at. I feel as if I can add a new perspective to the Staff team, and to the server in general. If allowed, I would also enjoy contributing to the lore, as I love writing, and adding to a growing universe of custom lore. Thank you for at least considering my application. Skull132 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Application format updated, please update the 4th answer. Personal contact information scrubbed, as per the update.
Skull132 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 The whole point there was to remove the need for anyone posting their contact information out in the open. Just knowing which program is preferred, as usually it's Skype v Steam, is enough.
Valkrae Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Ah, well, It's not that I care about putting my Skype out there, but I'll remove it just the same.
