TrickingTrapster's Head Whitelist Application

Recommended Posts

Hello, Tricking Trapster here. Yes, I made an account for this app, but that's mostly because I had too much fun playing on the aurora to spend time on the forum. ;) A thank you in advance for readin over this, for those who do.

BYOND key: TrickingTrapster

Character names: Shalae Aeria, Eva Aeria, Chantal Faers, Lyndis Aevisen, Albert Gizro

How long have you been playing on Aurora?:Not too sure specifically, but I think it's been between 4 and 6 months. I didn't count.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:Well, the Aurora is the only server I play on, so I thought trying to get more involved with it.

Why did you come to Aurora?:My girlfriend told me she knew a cool roleplaying game. Been addicted ever since.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?:Yes, I have. and, since 3 out of my 5 characters are applicable medical personnel, I have also been able to observe a lot of CMO's.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:What it is, taking roleplaying as a whole, not just SS13, is a group of players sort of writing a book, and only having a small amount of input: Their own character. The only thing they control. I think roleplaying should be about having fun and creating drama within said "book", according to the setting and lore.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To teach people within their department their jobs, like explaining mechanics LOOCly, and making sure their department doesn't fall flat on its face because members are SSD/missing. No one likes having to be dead from minute 5 without having someone at genetics or robotics.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:What they are... Well, I think I answered that in the question above. Teach newer players the mechanics, without dumping everything on them. And try to resolve issues that arise. Like, if someone disconnects in the middle of their work, take over. Certainly don't sit in your office all day. I'd uphold them by trying to actively be engaged within the department, keep checking on what everyone is doing, and trying to make sure no OOC arguments arise between them.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name:Albert Gizro

Character age:73

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

Albert Gizro grew up as a fit and very helpful man. No wonder, then, that he ended up in the medical department. He started out rough around the edges, but quickly became a respected surgeon. He had a wife, and a lively daughter. His drive to care for his family made him strive for a better job, so he took classes for more than just surgeon: Chemist, was the first. At his graduation ceremony, a rather impotent colleague was giving a demonstration, mixing the wrong chemicals. This resulted in a large explosion, with many wounded and dead. This included his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. Albert himself was mildly injured, giving him some minor recurring pains in the hips. He mourned for two months straight when he woke up in the hospital.

This didn't stop Albert, however: He had a granddaughter to care for. To give her the best possible education, and make sure she had the best life she could, even without parents, he had to continue. Albert became an EMT, medical doctor, and geneticist. He became more grumpy during work, but never hesitated to help anyone needing it. As his field of expertise increased, so did his pay. He accumulated enough credits for his daughter to go to university, and she did very well. He's only seen to be smiling and happy all the time in the company of his granddaughter. Now, in his old age, walking with his cane in hand, he keeps working, to help his granddaughter accumulate some money for her eventual family.

What do you like about this character?: I always like the old grumpy grandpa stereotypes in books and films. Yet they always have a reason for their grumpyness, and never are as heartless or as rude as they first appear to be. Out of all my other characters, this is also the odd one out, since it's an older male. I just generally enjoy calling other characters "sonny", too. and I just LOVe using the line "Don't you sass me, boy."

What do you dislike about this character?: Since this is the only male in my roster, I have to constantly remind myself I am playing the older grumpy grandpa, and to not make slipups with "she" instead of "he". I also need to keep reminding myself not to forget the cane.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He's got a little over 50 years of medical experience under his belt, worked in every aspect of the medical department and has worked with enough different people to be able to gauge them well. He'll prod people to work with his cane if they're nodding off, and praise them for good work, despite his attitude.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:I've seen people do it better, but I've also seen people do WAY worse. I don't place myself inside my character too much; I, the player, am a seperate entity from my character. But I know how to control my puppets. 7 or 8/10.

Extra notes: I imagine Albert being a little bit of a mix between Old Joseph Joestar and Deckard Cain, in appearance. Minus clothing, of course. Also, if this application comes out wrong, it's because I don't know much about this BBCode hoopla. :P

I'm honestly don't have a soild opinion on your characters, I've seen the Aeria sisters on the station, and had some RP with them. but nothing comes to mind about them, nothing major, which is somewhat good, I'll keep an eye on your characters and give you my opinion then. best of luck

The only character that I recognize on your list is Chantal Faers and I have noticed that she seems really realistic. If you play all of your other characters with the same amount of ability as Faers is played then I would definitely put a +1 on this.

Faers is okay, not a space vietnam veteran, a normal character. Had a relatively good time, patrolling the station with her, as my borg.

Gizro is great, I love the accent, and how he's refering to others, quite helpful, and stuff. Backstory is okay-ish, might want to make the explosion smaller and less "killed everyone", or just make it into an accident {edit: air/space vessel accident, huh}

I can safely +1 this.

I have played with Gizro for a few shifts now and I think the character fits the bill for a CMO candidate. He shows appropriate concern for the crew and the department, has the necessary familiarity or experience with a majority of the medbay equipment, and is capable of delegating tasks. He has also successfully played at least one decent round as an interim CMO. I have played with Chantal Faers and Shalae Aeria as well, and found the interactions with their player both pleasant and believable.

+1 for the above, with an additional +0.25 for representing what I can only assume is Space Scotland. Ach!

On a supplemental note, in my interactions with the character, there wasn't much to suggest any of the established backstory. I am looking forward to seeing it become relevant, and to how it might help create good roleplay with members of the medical staff.

I've either observed or been around Gizro for a few rounds. Player and character behavior are both pretty solid, although I haven't played in his department with him directly very much.

+1 for general good candy and reasonable behavior.

Gizro fits the bill both as a fantastic doctor and a grandfatherly, wise figure. We need more RD's and CMO's like that.
