LetzShake
Fairly self Explanatory. Blowing up a huge chunk of the station is worse than using atmos to vent it all. It's harder to fix and lags EVERYTHING. I think the same rules should apply. Link to comment
Skull132
Errr, I don't. See. How this is a good suggestion. If you don't think that we already permaban dudes who go, "Lelbomb," then we've done something wrong. Link to comment
LetzShake
No but in the same way antags can't atmos grief across large portions of the station, mass bombings of major hallways shouldn't be allowed either. They lag the server, and don't really add much to RP. They're just a cheap way of bad antagging. Link to comment
SgtSammac
Mass bombings aren't allowed without very good reason, same as antagging with atmos kit. Link to comment

I see mass bombings by antags ~all the time~ and they're never really addressed. It's why I end up almost always voting against antag rounds because antags can't really be trusted to make the game fun when they can just blow things up. Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
I agree with the OP. Using a bomb so large that it causes a major breach needs to be admin-sanctioned or be treated as grief. Every other RP-Rev round has entire chunks of the station detonating. It's really annoying because there's no RP to it. It's just the bomber cackling madly and everyone else going "what the shit" while the lag consumes all. This is especially true for that bomb that was put in medbay a few rounds ago. Who the hell bombs a hospital? What sort of justification do you have for bombing a hospital? Nuclear operatives are the only ones who would have the heartlessness to blow up medbay and that's only because they're going to blow it all up anyway! Link to comment

If they actually say "lelbomb" in adminhelp and don't show any remorse for it, it's generally grounds for a perma. Anyway, I think the OP needs to explain more on the aspect of treating bombings like atmos grief. Link to comment

Actually, here's the thing, it was actually a power sink. Big, black block that drains power from the station (for those who are not familiar with the item for X or Y reason). The power sink not only does that, but it also explodes /really/ violently after absorbing enough power from the grid. This part of the mechanic for the power sink is a /horrid/ idea in my opinion since these are always installed in maintenance tunnels around the station. What does this mean? It means that it can breach two departments, and possibly a hall or two, in one detonation. The power sink that blew up the medical bay in that round, literally /tore apart/ the surgery room, surgery prep, a quarter of that small atmospherics room in the corner of Atmosia, the area around it, one of the tanks outside of Atmosia, and breached Atmosia because it destroyed a couple of the windows in it. If we're already on the topic of treating bombs as atmos grief, I'd like to suggest removing this mechanic from the power sink because you not only get to drain power from the station, but you /also/ get to bomb the adjacent departments /and/ pretty much be a huge dick with that? Not to mention that some players don't even know that power sinks can explode, which can result in players having negative feelings towards the unknowing antagonist. Link to comment
Guest
I have an idea for an alternate ending idea for powersinks. It would effectively be a power-surge through the power grid, which would affect doors, lights, some machines, and render the powersink useless after going off. The station can be repaired easily (Provided your engineering team are working together and not hiding on the ourpost) when a bomb goes off. There was a bomb that went off in the bar that took a nice chunk out of it. Once everyone got over the inital shock of OMG bomb, they fixed it and managed to get it back to a habitable state. The lag can be accounted for meny things, server side and client side, and I have been profiling the server while some of these bombs have been going off, and the function with the biggest CPU time was Machinery Code. Since we are getting a new code for the biggest causes of lag (Machinery, Powernet, Atmosphrics) I think this can wait until after we have had a chance to see how that code base holds together. It sucks the atmosphere out of large chunks of the station, and is actually far more dire than anything but maybe a plasma fire. Small, targeted bombings aren't bad. But small, targeted bombings almost never happen. Max yield "hue hue blow up the hall between the bar and medbay bombings" exist plenty. And yes, I think power sinks need changes. There's not really any way to detect them, that I'm aware of and the fact that they're a huge bomb after they fuck everything up just adds insult to injury. Link to comment
