SierraKomodo Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 So one issue some people have with internal affairs is the lack of respect and attention they're given by the crew, which is a result of how many IA agents that come on board are players who are new to the game, new to our server, new to an HRP environment, or otherwise just don't give a good impression of the agents in general. As IAAs are supposed to have a very important role ICly, in regards to ensuring a station is running to regulation and essentially serving as Central Command's eyes and ears aboard the station (And with the duty officer's recent endeavors to involves internal affairs by having them perform mandated inspections/reviews), I think it might be a good idea to put IA under the head of staff whitelist. This would give players some OOC assurance that anyone playing IAA isn't going to be a newbie or someone that took the slot to mess around, and would in turn ensure that any IAs on station are players that can be trusted with the role by command staff and the duty officers.
CampinKiller Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) Please do this. I saw an IAA literally stalking Security the other night and trying to tell the HoS how to do their job, as well as issuing orders to Security constantly. I didn't recognize the name, so I assume it was a newer character. Edited February 2, 2016 by Guest
Owen Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 This is a thing that I highly support. Especially since on the new bay code, the IAAs have the Command channel unlocked and I believe they may have basic Bridge access, haven't tested it yet. But, it would help make them have a better role with any Duty Officer stuff. But anyway, I would like to see some responses on people who might not want that.
Mofo1995 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I really like this idea. IAA's have to have command staff level understanding of rules and regulations which comes with a healthy dose of browsing the wiki. Furthermore, there is a burden on IAA's comparable to Heads of Staff in their loyalty implants, as well as their abilities to really mess people up bureaucratically. All in all, it's something that really shouldn't be entrusted to someone who could be a total outsider to the community given the weight of an IAA's responsibilities.
Guest Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I support this. A majority of our dedicated IAAs that can handle doing the same investigation over multiple shifts are command-whitelisted anyways, this would be a major step in securing a trusted and respected view of Internal Affairs.
Skull132 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 YAh, can be done now, as IAAs are somewhat empowered. I'll toss it up to the devs.
incognitojesus Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Am I the only one who thinks that with this decision we should bring it down to one IAA?
Guest Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Am I the only one who thinks that with this decision we should bring it down to one IAA? The reason there is two, is to ensure that if one Agent becomes biased (say their family member is involved) , then the other Agent can investigate, and if an Agent needs investigating, there is another to do it.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Where will these IAA fit when DO's have taken up most of the work from them?
Guest Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 The same place they fit now? As CCIA assistants.
Skull132 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Where will these IAA fit when DO's have taken up most of the work from them? IAAs should still be the first person you go to to solve issues of that nature on the station. Not everyone has a fax machine on hand.
SierraKomodo Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Where will these IAA fit when DO's have taken up most of the work from them? A big part of this suggestion is to make it so DO's can trust delegating tasks to internal affairs.
