coolbc2000
BYOND key:Coolbc2000 Character names: Mark Syion, Tyrone Syion. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 5 months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: TO be honest, I just really want it..., To help steer rounds on Dead-hour really... Why did you come to Aurora?: Looking for servers to play with a 20-30 pop, found Aurora. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?:Yeeeep. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:RP is to be someone/something you are not. Its about acting out how a character would feel during different situations. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Its kinda like being a Teacher, you teach your staff and you go do other stuff while doing that. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Mostly to take head roles when they are really needed in the round, for example, every Dead-hour ever. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name:Mark Syion Character age: 49 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Mark Syion was born and raised on Biesel, His father a Judge, and his mother a Surgeon. He was mostly always alone at him, playing by himself or with the dog. Untill one day where that all changed, his parents adopted a child "Richard Syion". Mark could already tell that he was going to be a Genius, at the age of 15 mark went out with his brother on many space travels, mostly to earth to see family. After Mark turned 18, he signed up for Military duty, after harsh training mark got a special assignment, "You have been assigned to special unit Zero". After years of under-cover work for the Military, Mark deceided to resign and apply himself for a buissness degree. After four years, he got that degree and signed up for "QM" on the space station Aurora. After finding the job boring, he changed departments to security, and here we are now. Why is he on the station if he is Rich? Who knows, Because he is bored? No... Perhaps there is something else he is not telling us... What do you like about this character?: He is that guys you just wants to be friends with, he is charming and does his job to perfection. What do you dislike about this character?: He can be a asshole at times, he is also not unknown to not follow orders unless it comes directly from the HoS himself. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He does his job to perfection, he changed personality when he is appointed as a Head role. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 7/10 . Booooys. Extra notes:Dear lord, three times? Link to comment

LiquidRecluse
-1. To be honest, past encounters with Coolbc have left such a sour taste in my mouth, that I can't taste sweet coming from his RP anymore. Link to comment

Gollee
He doesn't do his job to perfection though, he's got two very nasty cases of Rathel and Hulk syndromes. By that, I mean he gets angry easily, insults people often, and tries too hard to be a badass. Link to comment
Guest
No. Mark does not do his job to perfection. He spends half his time doing what Richard did, being more focused on being an asshole over comms and trying to get the last word out like an arrogant little shit. If Mark hasn't shown to follow orders, why do you think he's capable of giving them? "You have been assigned to special unit Zero" ...Why. Just some kek, I could change it... So, this application was just made for keks then? Good luck on your fourth try, hombre. Link to comment

I can't speak to perfection, but that hasn't been the case in my experience, I've seen a competent officer that's been recommended by a couple of heads. "You have been assigned to special unit Zero" Idk what this means and don't care to find out. +1 because I like the cut of his jib, only played with him v recently Link to comment
SierraKomodo
Right so having witnessed an earlier round with Mark Syion as an interim Head of Security? I'm saying no. Why? Syion, a cadet, and a prisoner are sitting in the communal brig. The cadet suddenly starts beating the prisoner after they argue for a bit, Syion sits there and watch. The prisoner retaliates, knocks over the cadet after being beaten several times.. And Syion stuns and cuffs the prisoner. Cadet gets off scotch free. I ahelped this issue, and I was informed that you were spoken to about this. But what's to say this won't happen again? I'm certainly not going to trust you with a head of staff whitelist if you can't even handle an interim head of staff position properly. -1 Link to comment
CampinKiller
Sorry, but no. Mark Syion (like the rest of the Syions) are just so damn fluffy. "Yeah I'm a special ops badass billionaire who works here to keep from being bored." Also, I recall recently Syion getting a transplant to a Tajaran body "because it would be cool." What kind of sane person would do that? -1 Link to comment
ChevalierMalFet
Absolutely not. All of your characters are chucklefucks and I can't think of a single time I've ever enjoyed interacting with them. -1 Link to comment

Dreamix
Well, I recall Mark being a good interim head of security at least once, some time ago. If anything, I'd suggest you, Cool, to create an entirely new non-Syion character, without any billionaire/unit Zero/whatever backstories. Also, if Mark is so terrible bad, why is he being promoted to interim HoS's so frequently? It doesn't look like he's going to be fired by DO's any soon. I propose: partially accept Cool's application, let him play like a normal person and/or let him do something stupid and take the whitelist away. Instead of denying the application again, and leaving Mark (and other characters) in a state of endless interim-limbo. Link to comment

Indeed, mark is NOT the only character I play (as seen above) Tyrone is just a miner that got a degree in roboticts and is now working on the station. Nothing more to him but that. Barley says anything all shift, he goes in, does his job, goes to cryo. Link to comment
Redfield5
-1. My first encounter with Syion involved his clearly fraudulent records and his outright refusal to comply with wearing a proper uniform. In fact, most of the things I've heard him say revolve around his teenage angst, how rich he is, and insults against Jim. This has gone on for some time. Yeah, you know how to play the game. But can you RP a role competently, and can you actually research how exactly to create a deep, inspiring character? Jim might seem like a bit of a verbose randy goat, but I combed through the lore and pondered on what I wanted. Yeah, he's ex-ERT and a former orbital drop trooper, but I've put some work into him, to make him seem more real and human. Yesterday, when the malfunctioning AI destroyed the station, not all of his team made it out, so he cried and broke down. Put more human qualities into Syion. Yeah, there is nothing absolutely wrong with having a well-trained former soldier who's got some money. What you need to do, in summary, is this: 1. Add more flaws and human-like characteristics to Syion. Make it interesting for people to talk to him. Look at accomplished characters, like Marc Price, Vita Taryk, Valorallen Vitellia, etc. I wouldn't advise looking at mine, given that there are much better role-models and roleplayers out here in this community. 2. Try working on your grammar. Not just spelling, but also work on sentence structure and how you word things. I understand that you may or may not be German, but you aren't the first overseas RP'er I've worked with. In summary, reinvent Syion. Make him into someone human, someone that the crew will see as intriguing, attractive, but ultimately not someone to be trifled with. Link to comment

Owen
Mark may not be the only one you play but, it is the one you play the most and people know the most. I have only seen Tyrone a few times. I am not going to put a vote out yet though. Link to comment

SierraKomodo
As a note, you keep making a point that Mark is not the only character you play. The reason we're focusing on Mark is because it's that character you put in your application that's going to become a head of staff. Also, the DO's haven't done anything because: A: Half of what you do, like what I posted about, involved antags so we can't touch it B: Nobody reports anything in an IC manner so DO's can't do anything Link to comment

coolbc2000
Perhaps. But then again. He is my most played character, and I enjoy playing him. Link to comment
TishinaStalker
And I can understand that, but you need to know when doing X will lead to utter failure. You are using a character that people know and many have a problem with. Why not make a new character that nobody knows, is unrelated to the Syion's, and then developing that? I assure you that will get MUCH better results than what you are getting in this attempt. Basically, know when you have lost, learn from why you lost, and reinforce your weak spot. Otherwise, you are going to encounter the exact same failure every single time. Running your face into the wall every time with the same method, hoping for something to change, will not work here.
