Wayfarer Network Unveiled; Einstein-Federation Answer to Phoron Crisis

Translated from Tau Ceti Basic

In a press release made this evening, Grand Advisor Ormish Jrolk, President of Nralakk Logistics Alot Sonq, Chancellor of Qerr’Zolvq Industries Xul Lurg, and representatives of Einstein Engines have publicly announced the “Wayfarer Network”, a trans-Federation network of waystations and other facilities that will build upon and reinforce pre-existing warp travel infrastructure:

Quote

“It is my pleasure to reveal a joint effort between Einstein Engines’ brightest minds and the Federation’s Enterprises: The Wayfarer Network. We intend to build on top of the already existing infrastructure for long-distance travel within the Federation, making warp travel more viable for the Federation’s larger civilian and military vessels. Einstein Engines will be taking the lead with this project by providing the initial essential staff to maintain and operate these facilities, with the aim of Nralakk’s own workers replacing them gradually as the project nears completion. In addition to Einstein’s contribution, our own State Enterprises will provide the materials and labour required to construct new or upgrade existing facilities.” - The opening statement of the press release, spoken by Einstein Representative Lorenzo Tan

Chancellor Xul Lurg and President Alot Song then provided their own statements on the Wayfarer Network, reaffirming Qerr’Zolvq’s and Nrallak Logistic’s contributions. Shortly after, Advisor Jrolk took to the podium:

Quote

“With this project, our aim is to not only make long-distance warp travel more viable, but to cut our phoron usage to the bare minimum required for a functioning modern society. I cannot give a reliable timeframe for when this project will be considered ‘complete’, but work is already beginning on facilities considered critical to the Federation’s logistics network. We expect to see the first set of facilities to finish construction within the next two decades, with the first facility to be complete within the next five years.”

Quote

“While this is good news, we urge the public to not expect a recovery overnight…” - An excerpt from a statement made after the press release by Federation representatives on Viv-ID.

Federation representatives were quick to remind citizens that bluespace travel and other civilian uses of phoron are restricted as rationing continues, but commented that with the Wayfarer Network, we could expect the scarcity's impact on the Federation’s economy to progressively lessen as the project develops. For now, there will still be logistical issues preventing many regions of the Federation from receiving full deliveries of goods and other shipments.

The Grand Council has also brought out revised production quotas after observing the real-world effects the phoron shortage has had on the Federation’s planned economy; simulations made at the start of the phoron crisis did not take into account events such as the systems in the Q’elpi region collaborating with Marauders, resulting in current quotas being deemed ‘unattainable’.

C’thur Hive Commits to Reduce Phoron Dependency

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The C’thur Hive has released a new campaign promoting the reduction of phoron usage by the Federation and its citizens. The advertisements went live on Viv-ID earlier today, with the majority of them focusing on the C'thur Hive's thoughts and aims regarding the current scarcity.

The “Live Free of Phoron” campaign  aims to educate Federation citizens on how the Federation is cutting back on its phoron use, as well as the benefits of both the pre-existing and the latest warp drive technology and infrastructure. In an interview with Ta’Akaix’Fre’xii C’thur, the Hive representative explains:

Quote

“Phoron is a valuable element with many uses outside transportation. As a limited resource in the Orion Spur, it is essential to preserve the current phoron deposits for essential uses. Bluespace technology accelerated growth far beyond what was previously thought possible, but it is time to move forward with the help of new and improved sustainable technologies. Moreover, as allies of the Nralakk Federation, we believe that the Federation should remain self-sufficient rather than relying on external trade for a critical resource.  Grand Advisor Omish Jrolk put it succinctly earlier in the crisis: Bluespace travel should be used only if necessary. However, we wish to go further and see Bluespace travel be completely supplanted by improved warp technology.”

As economic partners of Einstein Engines, the C’thur Hive has also reflected their support of the Wayfarer Network and any warp-drive ventures that may promote phoron alternatives.

Additionally, the C’thur plan to increase their aid in warp-drive research. The Qamlok facilities in Aliose are expected to double their efforts, including the establishment of a Warp division for C'thur-led research into the field of warp travel.

The C’thur Hive has also remarked that this policy will only be enforced inside the Federation borders, with no plans to change their partnerships outside Skrellian space, meaning that C'thur that find themselves outside the Federation's borders will not be expected to reduce their phoron-footprint.

Qukala Uncover Narcotics Highway

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

In a press release earlier today, the Qukala announced they have busted an intergalactic drug operation that slipped into Traverse space. The smugglers were discovered by a passing Qukala patrol who hailed a small convoy of freighters, who were operating without active transponders. The convoy attempted to flee but were quickly subdued by our Navy’s swift response.

A Qukala boarding party embarked on the vessels to detain the crew and search for illegal goods, when they were attacked by a mixed group of human and skrell criminals. C’thuric Warriors quickly disabled the unlawful crew and secured the ships. The Qukala reported the convoy seemed to be transporting large quantities of Nightlife, Mercury Monolithium Sucrose, and—most alarmingly—Red Nightshade.

After interrogation, the smugglers revealed that, due to the hostile conditions of the Solarian Wildlands, criminal elements have begun seeking alternative routes to reach frontier space. The route these smugglers used was allegedly rapidly gaining popularity in part due to the quietness of Federation space and the fact some unsavory Traverse elements were purchasing some of their wares.

The route has been indicated below:

Spoiler

drugmoment2.PNG.b6886846e3065d2b181e02c70379e20b.PNG

Many of the arrested smugglers seem to either be unruly Traverse citizens or human Venusians from Solarian space. Those arrested have been transfered to the Nlomkala for processing and sentencing. Federation officials have opened a formal complaint with the Sol Alliance embassy, though no response has been given.

The Directory of Defense Operations noted it was pleased with the performance of Vytel’s Brood in Qukala operations. The Board was equally disappointed by the continuous poor behavior from Traverse Skrell, and commented that Qukala operations near this uncovered highway will be doubled.

Ti'Rakqi Drug Trade Continues to be Thwarted; Cephalons Seen as New Avenue for Computing Solutions

(Translated to Tau Ceti Basic)

In recent weeks, the Qukala have been active in cleaning up our Federation’s borders from drug peddlers from across the Spur. Reports indicate that once the Qukala secured the smuggler’s route, smugglers attempted to use other routes through Federation space, bypassing the more populated regions or areas with a high military presence. Thankfully, the Qukala has kept a vigilant watch and stomped out these dangerous criminals wherever they can be found.

Narcotics production and sale in the Federation saw a noticeable decline after Ka’Akaix’Tro C’thur, a Mouv-brood data analyst, was assigned to assist the Nlomkala in report processing. During their work, the Vaurca collected Nlomkala reports and compared the data against Qukala engagements with the smugglers. Utilizing a “Type D” Vaurca, or a Cephalon, Tro calculated the likely center of the smuggler network’s infrastructure. Once the Qukala acted on the data, they found a large Ti’Rakqi base operating out of the Pluat Ven’qop region. The criminals had been exchanging dangerous narcotics, such as Red Nightshade, for large quantities of natural Xu’Xi Gas, as well as synthetic drugs made "in-house" by the Ti'Rakqi.

The Kala have made strides in curbing narcotics production and trade in other parts of the Federation, thanks to information revealed by data found inside the discovered Ti'Rakqi base. The Nlomkala have been able to use this information to conduct multiple investigations and arrests in other areas of the Traverse, while the Qukala have seized shipments mid-transit thanks to the schedules and manifests found during the operation.

Grand Councillor Weashbi briefly commented on the matter, expressing his great gratitude towards Mouv’s brood and our hard working Kala. With this event, Nralakk scientist interest in Cephalons has increased sharply. Some claim they may be the “solution” to regain the processing power lost when the Skrell wisely discarded usage of AIs. Other scientists have claimed that such practices, if adopted, would be unethical as the Cephalons are still technically living beings. There are some in the scientific community that have argued that the use of Cephalons would be similar to the use of viax, drawing parallels between the two and how their usage by the Federation is on par with the use of synthetics. Some have gone even further and argued that the use of Cephalons would make Skrell similar to Glorsh using Skrell for slave labor - this line of thought, however, was quickly admonished by most academics due to its controversial nature.

Dean of Aliose University Retires; Enters Palliative Care

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Quote

“I will be eternally grateful for the many opportunities afforded to me as Dean of Aliose’s finest university and cultural pillar. There is no greater privilege than to teach, and I’ve had a delightful and fulfilling life raising up many new generations of Skrell to their star-written roles. I adore all those who have passed from my tutelage and thank them for their bright minds, as they always made my work immensely rewarding.”

The prestigious and venerated Lori’Eldap Joolro’Loveq’s two century long career as Dean of AUMS has come to an end this weekend after an announcement from her staff to the public. Despite the intense and dedicated attention given to Joolro’Loveq’s medical care, the weight of five and a half centuries is weighing down on her.

Lori’Eldap came to this decision on her own after realizing her failing body was beginning to impact her ability to teach in the Srom. She regrets not being able to finish out the current academic term and has arranged for her current students to receive special attention from some of the sharpest scholars available to the University.

During her time as Dean, Lori’Eldap logged more than 620,000 working hours driving academic and medical innovations for the benefit of the Nralakk Federation. Graduating class sizes have increased over 21%, professional development programs involving Ziip’Ta Medicinal and Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals have doubled their coverage and student counts, and non-skrell students began their academic studies at AUMS under her watch.

In his response to the Dean’s announcement, Grand Councillor Weashbi expressed his deepest sympathies and gratitude to Lori’Eldap Joolro’Loveq for her outstanding work within the University and for the betterment of medical science within the Federation. Beyond that, Weashbi thanked her for being his personal friend and the Grand Council’s most steadfast advisor for over a decade. He promised she and her Quya would receive all necessary support during this time out of his own pocket.

Likely related to her announcement, the Grand Council has appropriated a wide plot of unused land on the far end of Orq’wesi and begun a construction project. Many C’thur Workers were spotted on the site with Skrellian overseers, but the Council has made no formal announcement of the exact purpose of the project.

The Marauder Systems, Eleven Months On

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The roughly dozen systems of the Q'elpi region of the Traverse, dubbed "The Marauder Systems" for their role in a Ti'Rakqi scheme to defraud the Nralakk Federation of Phoron, have been under strict martial law for eleven months without resolution in sight. The systems have endured not only an interplanetary travel ban, but strict curfews, extranet access restrictions, and suspension of other rights and privileges across all numerical bands.

Some progress has been made towards transitioning back to a civilian government, but there are delays as the local Kala are still searching for known Marauder collaborators in the now-defunct local administrations. Even with this progress, however, there are now reports that dissidents have come to blows once again with the local authorities after a period of relative peace. Vandalism against government property, illegal demonstrations, and the spread of anti-Federation propaganda have suddenly been on the rise with no known catalyst for the events.

A representative of the Grand Council went into detail on the developing situation:

Quote

"The Grand Council wishes to assure the citizens of the Federation that the systems currently under martial law are still well within the Federation's control. We can confirm that there are minor flare-ups of dissident activity, but as it stands, these systems are still largely pacified. We do not expect the situation to escalate to where it was at the beginning of Qukala operations in the area. We have given the local Qukala detachment the authority it needs to expediently handle any further situations as they develop."

The Q'elpi systems have been relatively peaceful until now; with the majority of the conflict between the local citizens and the Qu'kala ending shortly after martial law was enacted. While the authorities are unwilling to point to a cause, the Kala stationed in the region believes that the long time under martial law and the negative impact it has had on daily life in these systems are the leading cause.

When asked to comment on the extraordinarily long period of martial law being enforced in the systems, the representative stated that "[Martial law] will stay in place until such a time we believe we have detained all known collaborators of the Ti'Rakqi operation that resulted in Qukala intervention." This statement reaffirms the Qukala's aim of only operating for as long as it's strictly required (see: Martial Law Declared as Systems Resist Collaborator Arrests).

Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl, while not personally available for a statement on the matter, posted the following on Viv-ID:

Quote

"While I sympathise with the situation in the Q'elpi systems… I have no sympathy for those who attack the Kala - who are there to protect both you and the Federation - whether it be violently or non-violently. The Federation does not, and will not, allow malicious actions against it to go without due punishment and retribution."

As the Q'elpi systems are currently under strict travel and extranet restrictions, information coming out of the systems is slow. The Enquirer will continue reporting as the situation develops.

Disorder Continues in the Marauder Systems

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Anti-Federation activity continues to rage on in the Marauder Systems, with the Nlomkala and Qukala facing more open opposition by citizens. Users on Viv-ID have expressed their concerns over the situation, believing that it will take a stronger response by the Federation to pacify the region. The Grand Council continues to reassure citizens that what is happening in the Marauder Systems will subside and that they are doing everything in their power to ensure that the situation does not deteriorate.

Various images released show the violence across the planets of the Marauder Systems; fortunately, it appears that the carnage is aimed primarily towards property rather than enforcers or civilians:

Quote

[An image showing multiple Skrell, their faces covered, destroying the display window for a Work Initiative Programme office. A second image, which appears to be some time after, shows the same building stripped bare and with all its windows smashed.]

[An image showing a crowded street from the top of one of the neighbouring buildings. A large gathering of demonstrators can be seen marching down the street, toward Nlomkala officers. There are multiple signs that can be easily made out, including "End Martial Law!", "Qukala Get Out!", and "Our Freedom Is Not A Privilege!".]

While unconfirmed, it appears that videos and other media have been posted from the Marauder Systems in support of the dissidents, somehow bypassing extranet restrictions. The posts allegedly show why these groups are resisting Federation authority, showcasing life under martial law as well as calls for the end of Qukala operations on the planets and a return to regular civilian life. The Grand Council has declined to comment, instead stating that "the offending media was in breach of media policy on the platforms hosting it and has been promptly removed".

The situation has had a noticeable impact on neighbouring systems as well, with local authorities noting an increase in subversive online activity originating from these systems. While noted as troubling, many have dismissed the activity as "young tadpoles looking for a cause.".

Zi’Pluax Tracked to Marauder Territory

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

New information has been made available regarding the Zi'Pluax (translated to Basic: The Fleet of the Srom), a generation ship that has been missing since July last year. The Zi'Pluax had fled Q'elpi space around the same time as an increase in Marauder activity, resulting in them being suspected of aiding the Marauders in some way and fleeing Federation authorities to evade punishment. Kala agents have worked tirelessly to investigate the matter, attempting to find the ship based on information acquired from fleet members abroad as well as flight patterns from just before contact was lost.

Authorities have now revealed the discoveries made from their investigations, shedding light on what has been described as a peculiar series of events.

The Federation has recently revealed that before its initial escape last year, the Zi’Pluax had rendezvoused with a small vessel, the origins of which have not yet been made public yet. Many of the ship’s Fleet Command and auxiliary crew were evacuated from the Zi’Pluax using this vessel and immediately sought out the nearest Qukala detachment. Those fleet members who left the Zi’Pluax were cooperative with Qukala agents and played a critical role in helping Federation enforcement in their investigation of the rogue Zi’Pluax. While most information is classified, Federation authorities did reveal that the reason behind the Zi'Pluax's disappearance was related to a mutiny aboard the vessel. A press conference with Zi’Pluax representative Za’Sha Qua’Sar and Qukala enforcement is expected to take place in the coming days.

The loyal members of the Zi'Pluax have been cooperative for the last year as they have been held by authorities while they were still under investigation. A representative of the Ruupkala, which has been the main branch heading efforts to discover the location of the missing generation ship, confirmed that the Zi'Pluax's Fleet Command have been cleared of any criminal charges, and that members of the Zi'Pluax that were off ship at the time will have their restrictions lifted:

Quote

"From our investigation, we can confirm that no member of the Zi'Pluax present in our custody, or that was on their "cultural exchange" programme at the time of the disappearance, had a part to play in the mutiny. We will be removing restrictions put in place at the start of the investigation, and steps will be taken to track the rogue fleet's exact location.

We are still analysing data, but we can confirm that the Zi'Pluax is currently within known Marauder territory deep within the Traverse."

The Zi'Pluax's Fleet Command were able to give their own comments shortly after this announcement, promising a press conference in the coming days to provide more details on the situation. It has been stated that Zi'Pluax representative, Za'Sha Qua'Sar, will be heading this conference.

Quvs. Qua'Sar has been one of the leading voices aboard the Zi'Pluax since the ship was first rediscovered in 2560. Officially, the fleet runs on a democratic system within its command system, with no one central authority figure, yet many members of the fleet claim Quvs. Qua'Sar as the closest thing to a Captain the Zi'Pluax has.

Za'Sha Qua'Sar has been given credit for implementing the "Containment Zone", a controversial method to house those deemed dangerous within the Fleet, as well as the exchange programme that has allowed the Zi'Pluax's crew to work abroad.

Members of the fleet that are currently on their cultural exchange programme have expressed joy at the news of the rediscovery, but are also concerned regarding the news that there has been a mutiny amongst the crew. Save for a select few members and the majority of Fleet Command, the status of the remaining crew is unknown at this time.

Zi’Pluax Press Conference w/ Quvs. Qua’Sar

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Former Zi'Pluax Fleet Command member Za'Sha Qua'Sar has just finished their press conference, conducted jointly with Kala members, regarding the mutiny on the Zi'Pluax that resulted in its disappearance, as well as the miraculous recovery of the fleet's lost guidance vessel, the Zi'Quarq. Outlined below are key points from the conference:

Quvs. Qua'Sar:

What exactly was the guidance vessel that Fleet Command evacuated on?

Quote

"While our ship was moving through the Q'elpi region the Zi'Pluax detected a faint signal from a previously unexplored asteroid field… it appeared to be a faint SOS signal used by Skrellian vessels, so we moved in to investigate. As we maneuvered closer and made visual contact, we realised that it was our guidance vessel - the Zi'Quarq - that we had lost contact with in the late 21st century. It is a modest vessel when compared to the Zi’Pluax, but its importance to our people and our fleet's history cannot be understated.."

Were there any survivors on the Zi'Quarq?

Quote

"Unfortunately, we discovered only the command members of the Zi'Quarq still alive, locked away in cryosleep- an event not dissimilar to the situation faced on the Zi'Pluax. Due to the limited number of cryosleep pods, many opted to live the rest of their life normally. While it was a welcome surprise to see our fellow fleet members, we were obviously not anticipating that they took the same drastic measures that we did."

What can you tell us about the mutiny aboard the Zi'Pluax?

Quote

"Without revealing too much information regarding an ongoing investigation, I can tell you this: we believe that the mutiny was pre-planned.

Many members of Fleet Command- myself included- along with several other members, elected to board the Zi'Quarq once we realised what we discovered. While we were assessing the situation, members of Fleet Command that stayed behind opted to seize the ship… along with members that were held in the Containment Zone. We believe these members of the fleet have held anti-Federation views since rediscovery, and have bided their time until they could seize the ship and flee without any bloodshed.

Without loyalist command members, and with members from the Containment Zone taking part, we are assuming that the regular crew have been strong-armed into following the Zi'Pluax's new commanding officers and their goals. We don't know what their plan is exactly, but we do believe that the rediscovery of the Zi'Quarq while in proximity to Marauder activity was not just a coincidence; the rogue fleet is more than likely now moving to a Marauder stronghold in order to offer their services."

How was the mutiny successful?

Quote

"We were able to receive garbled communications from loyal members still aboard the Zi'Pluax during the mutiny. As far as we can tell, the defunct research wing was used to outfit members held in the Containment Zone with improvised weapons, including drug-delivering devices such as aerosol grenades and makeshift stun batons. While we were well underway on the Zi'Quarq, the traitorous members still aboard the Zi'Pluax opened up the checkpoints to the Containment Zone and allowed its members to overwhelm security forces. As of now, we believe what is left of the loyalist members of the crew are locked up in the Containment Zone; a true perversion of justice."

What happens now?

Quote

"As of now, members of the fleet who are loyal to the Federation are represented by the Zi'Quarq, while the mutineers and those who ally themselves with them are represented by the Zi'Pluax.

In the past we had elected to keep our distance from the Federation, instead choosing to lead our own path- while still adhering to the laws of the Federation and its Grand Council. With the threat that our ship poses being led by our Punished Minds, we can no longer offer nothing less than our full cooperation in good conscience. What resources we have left will be put towards finding and intercepting the Zi'Pluax, preventing the Marauders from using the ship for their own nefarious purposes. We strongly urge our Qu'Draa abroad to make contact with us or their nearest Federation officials, and to disassociate themselves with the Zi'Pluax - those found still loyal or otherwise in contact with the Zi'Pluax will be considered accomplices to the mutiny, and criminals under Federation law.

We have already begun repairs on the Zi'Quarq and expect to be fully operational soon. While keeping in mind that space is even more limited now that we are based out of our old guidance vessel, we still encourage members to return to the fleet- at least to reconnect before going back out to the Federation and wider Spur. We welcome you with open arms.

I have also taken on a new position on the Zi'Quarq… the role of Captain; elected by vote amongst the remaining loyal Fleet Command members. I will have overall authority over the Zi'Quarq and its members. As before, I have spearheaded the implementation of a new Containment Zone for those we have found supporting the mutiny aboard the Zi'Pluax, and the Nralakk Federation has agreed to allow us to take responsibility for handling the punishment of rogue fleet members. I am saddened to say that already our Containment Zone aboard the Zi’Quarq has a sizable population…

The Zi'Quarq will be accepting donations and new members as we complete repairs and install new cryo pods and hydroponic bays for returning members. Our new home is already well on its way to be outfitted with the majority of what we need, but we lack materials and specialised labour that we unfortunately lost due to the mutiny."

Representatives of the Kala have confirmed that the Zi'Quarq is close to being fully repaired, and it is expected that the vessel will be put to work on locating the Zi'Pluax as soon as possible.

Dissident Action in Traverse Grows; Ti'Rakqi Activity Resumes in Marauder Systems

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

As dissident activity spreads to other planets in the Traverse, the Qukala has deployed additional troops to areas neighbouring the Marauder Systems.

Numerous planets neighbouring the Marauder Systems have reported an increasing frequency of subversive activity similar to what is being faced in the Marauder Systems. Anti-Federation activity is reportedly being conducted not only physically, but also through disruptive actions both online and in the Srom.

Similar policies to those currently in place within the Marauder Systems have been emplaced on this new set of planets; extranet access has been disabled or heavily restricted, a travel ban is in place, and the Nlomkala is enforcing a strict curfew for civilians of all numerical bands. Whether or not martial law will be officially enacted on these additional planets is still up for debate. However, troop movements suggest that at the very least, the Qukala are preparing to intervene.

The deployment of additional troops marks a record high for active Qukala operations in a single region outside the Core systems. The marked increase in Qukala troops has raised concerns about the security of uninvolved systems as Qukala concentrate in the Q’elpi region. These concerns mostly relate to the security of other regions of the Federation, which the government has assured are still well-protected despite the movement of Kala to the Q'elpi region.

In related news, Ti'Rakqi activity has resumed in the Marauder Systems and the surrounding region; vessels identified as being aligned with the Marauder group have been engaged by the Qukala and driven off when discovered. It is currently unknown what their intentions are. One can assume that the Marauders are beginning to take advantage of the situation in the affected systems, as those most impacted by martial law look to the black market for goods and services that have been restricted; or those that are otherwise unavailable. The Grand Council issued a statement reminding citizens that subversive activity in all its forms will be punished accordingly, and to respect and adhere to the rules outlined under martial law. For our readers, we have included a flyer that has been used in the Marauder Systems as an example of what martial law exactly entails for the common citizen:

Quote

[An image of an authoritative flyer fills the bottom of the article. The star Nralakk, as depicted on the flag of the Federation, fills the background. The flyer is titled "Martial Law Enforced on this Planet", while several infographics are spread out across the paper depicting regulations that must be followed. Several images and their text are in bold, signifying their importance. These sections are related to checkpoint regulations, curfew hours, loitering, and the importance of identification papers.]

Councillor Jrugl Calls for Action; Kala to take "Advanced Measures" in Traverse

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Councillor Weashbi Jrugl has called for "swift action" against the dissident systems within the Traverse during a speech made earlier today.

The Grand Councillor has until now not shown any concern towards the current wave of subversive activity in the Traverse. They gave a public statement earlier today regarding some of the new policies being implemented as part of the government's response to the Phoron crisis. At the end of their speech, they were asked for their personal thoughts on the current situation in the Q'elpi region of the Traverse:

Quote

"The Grand Council has come to the conclusion that- until now, we have been overcautious with our response to the Q'elpi region, and it is obvious that restraint is preventing resolution. The Grand Council has agreed that swift action is needed… And it is needed now so that we can see an end to the dissident movement that is quickly forming on our frontier…" - An excerpt from Councillor Jrugl's statement.

The Grand Councillor then went on to say that the Qukala and Nlomkala have been ordered to take "advanced measures" as part of this new strategy. This includes a more aggressive stance on the Marauders and subversive activity wherever martial law has been declared. Alongside regular patrols and the consolidation of forces in key areas to prevent disruptions to civilian infrastructure and services, the Kala are now expected to take a more proactive approach in detaining non-compliant citizens. Similar to when martial law was first declared last year.

Dissident activity in the Traverse continues to spread in the Q'elpi region and has begun to threaten the inner parts of the Traverse as well. The government issued a statement that reminded citizens to refrain from socialising in large groups due to the possibility of being misidentified as a subversive actor. Kala branches have allegedly heightened their security alertness in response to the developing situation.

As of this article, three additional systems have been added to the "Marauder Systems", with martial law put in place to crack down on dissident activity.

Subversive Activity Continues; Skrell Abroad React

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The subversive elements in the Q'elpi region and elsewhere continue to agitate against the government and Kala operating in the Marauder Systems. All of this is happening in spite of the Federation's renewed policy of proactive response to dissident activity.

Demonstrations, anti-Federation speech, vandalism, and other activities continue in the Traverse as more planets preemptively enact their own policies in the face of growing opposition to the government and its actions in the Q'elpi region. Posts on Viv-ID showcasing dissident actions in the Q'elpi region are common, despite the restrictions on extranet access by the Federation. While primarily these posts are calling on Skrell across the Spur to support their "peaceful" cause, government officials and loyal citizens have been quick to point out the destructiveness that these subversives are bringing to their homes:

Quote

[An image of a littered city street. Storefronts have been vandalised while one building appears to have been set on fire at some point with black scorch marks clearly visible. The street is empty except for two Nlomkala officers who appear to be questioning a civilian.]

Bolder dissidents have even gone so far as to hack into local SCS show boards, making both national and local politicians show up as having the lowest scoring social credit score. Amongst these include Grand Councillor Jrugl themselves, who was shown to have a social credit score of zero. This vandalism was quickly rectified but resulted in these boards being shut down for several days while security systems were updated.

The response to the strife in the Traverse has been mixed abroad, as both pro- and anti-Federation Skrell voice their opinions. Many loyal citizens abroad in the Sol Alliance and Cooperative Territories of Epsilon Ursea Minoris have been quick to oppose the subversives; while in mixed areas where both groups live together, such as the Republic of Biesel's Mendell City, tensions are rising quickly as hardliners on both sides begin to rally external support.

No nation in the Spur has yet made a statement on the dissident movement or their Skrellian resident's reactions. However, representatives of the Nralakk Federation abroad have called for those worried to remain calm, stating that "The Federation's internal workings and issues are nothing to be concerned over." and that what the Federation is facing is "simply a vocal minority."

Zi’Quarq Members Receive Orders

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

With the Zi’Quarq being deemed fit for operations by Federation enforcement- The vessel is now being tasked with locating and intercepting the rogue Zi’Pluax generation ship. Assisted by tracking and investigative expertise from the Nlomkala and Ruupkala, the Zi’Quarq is confident in its attempts to recover their home ship.

Within Nralakk, many scientists from the fleet are also working in conjunction with Federation researchers in fields related to the Nlom and the Srom. The Containment Zone and its success in stopping psionic Nlom “poisoning”,described as an intense negative psionic energy that impacts both the local Wake and the Srom, is being actively studied to see if a widespread use is possible for Federation purposes should it be needed. Scientists from the generation fleet are also well versed in the Srom due to their unique experiences within cryo pods for extended periods of time. This experience in the Srom is crucial when paired with the Containment Zone’s need for Srom manipulation to combat the effects of Nlom poisoning.

Those on the Zi’Pluax still loyal to the original Fleet Command were able to send an encrypted message just before their internment in the Containment Zone, revealing that a former Containment Zone member by the name of “Jul-Dronoq Viix” has taken control of the ship; although not without bloodshed as previously thought. Much of the Zi’Pluax is steeped in negative psionic energy due to the former Containment Zone members being allowed to roam freely aboard.

During the initial mutiny, many groups from within the Containment Zone struggled to fill the power vacuum. Various gangs from the zone used what crude weaponry they had to establish a hierarchy through violence. The Dronoqs, named after Jul-Dronoq Viix themself, were the ones to finally seize control of the Zi’Pluax bridge and establish themselves as the dominant faction on the Zi'Pluax.

There are concerns that the Marauder-aligned Zi'Pluax will use their connections to continue the Cultural Exchange programme by utilising Ti'Rakqi connections. Jobs abroad in human space can be secured through fake documents and other illegal means, allowing the Zi'Pluax to fund itself and its new allies. Federation citizens working abroad are expected to report any suspicious activity to their nearest Federation Representative. Those who are caught harbouring criminals or otherwise knowingly assisting them will see social credit score deductions, deportation, and criminal charges leading to rehabilitation.

In the meantime, Captain Qua’Sar has allowed any Zi’Quarq crew, or members of the Zi’Pluax who escaped during the initial mutiny- either aboard the Zi’Quarq or through using escape pods, to extend their cultural exchange indefinitely. This invitation is only to members who are in good standing with both the Fleet and the Federation. These members are also allowed to freely travel between the Zi’Quarq and their work abroad when convenience and scheduling provides. Captain Qua’Sar does warn that cryo pod space is limited aboard the Zi’Quarq and members are expected to schedule their return with Zi’Quarq Fleet Command. The Zi’Quarq does however ask that returning members make a donation that is in some form intended to help the ship’s continual efforts and goals.

Independent Traverser Movement Officially Established; Jrugl Announces Reforms

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The, until now dispersed and unorganised, opposition to Federation authority in the Traverse has now centralised itself as the "Independent Traverser Movement". This new development follows a series of public statements made throughout the Traverse by dissident leaders across several planets who appear to be spearheading the new movement.

The Independent Traverser Movement's public manifesto lists over forty separate "concerns", ranging from the Federation's deeply-ingrained values and systems such as the Social Credit System, representation of the Traverse on the Grand Council, the Federation's economic and foreign policy, as well as what the movement perceives as a "conscious effort to exploit and mistreat" the population living within the Traverse. Inner-system politicians have individually come forward to debunk many of the manifesto's claims since its release, stating that "[the manifesto] is not much more than individualist rhetoric meant to divide our people and obfuscate the goals of the Federation." While the political stance may be prevalent in certain areas of the Traverse, the manifesto has seen zero support within the inner systems. Several queens from the C'thur hive have made statements denouncing the movement and reaffirming the hive's commitment to the Nralakk Federation.

In response to the formation of the Independent Traverser Movement, Grand Councillor Jrugl has surprised many by publicly stating their intention to actively work on some of the main points made in the manifesto. While not going into details, Jrugl has said that the Grand Council will be convening in the coming weeks to discuss potential solutions.

Despite the gesture of goodwill made, the Independent Traverser Movement has so far not slowed down its activities. Protests and demonstrations are still being organised as local authorities and the military are temporarily returning to containment measures in an attempt to minimise damage to public facilities and communities. Within the inner systems, the response to Jrugl's attempts to peacefully resolve the situation in the Traverse has been met with more positive reactions:

Quote

"My Quya and I are afraid of what's happening in the Traverse. These subversives riot and protest against the Federation, even as the Grand Council tries to engage with them diplomatically. After all that's happened the past few years, this is the first time in decades we feel as if our future isn't secure." - Kep Jrqmala, a spaceport worker on Qerrbalak.

Quote

"The Marauder Systems have been in a state of martial law for some time now, and we can't continue to use the Nlomkala and Qukala to suppress every planet that decides to join those systems. The Grand Councillor's doing what they can to preserve the Federation, and I stand by their decision here." - Oquo Aeio-Mrq, a Nlomkala officer stationed on Qerr'Malic.

Quote

"It wasn't that long ago that the Traverse was still fractured with independent states dotted throughout the region. What happened in the Q'elpi region, and elsewhere in the Traverse, is troubling… yet not wholly surprising. The Grand Councillor's willingness to compromise, even with the more rebellious Skrell in the Traverse, is truly commendable." - Raqa Pliu, a lecturer at the Aliose University of Medical Science.

The government has declined to comment on how the Grand Councillor's statement will impact operations in the Traverse, only stating that they are "taking steps to de-escalate” while still “keeping the peace in affected regions."

First Round of Reforms Announced as Jrugl Responds to Independent Traverser Movement

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The Grand Council has announced its first round of proposed reforms that aim to address the rise of the Independent Traverser Movement. The dissident organisation acting as a united front against the Federation and what the movement perceives as "exploitation" of the outer systems.

Grand Councillor Jrugl, along with Advisor Ormish Jrolk and other prominent members of the Grand Council announced the initial reforms earlier today in Kal'lo:

Quote

"Over the past two weeks, we on the Grand Council have deliberated on the situation in the Traverse, and the arguments made by the "Independent Traverser Movement". While their actions are something that we condemn, we believe that there are certain issues raised in their core beliefs that have merit.

Recent events, both domestic and foreign, have hit the Traverse the hardest. We believe that this surge of discontent is a symptom of that. The Federation is meant to be a nation of cohesion; a nation where everyone cooperates for the betterment of the whole… And while every nation has its detractors, the Nralakk Federation since its inception has had the upliftment and prosperity of all Skrell as its primary goal. With this in mind, we on the Council believe that these reforms are the first step in affirming our dedication to bettering the lives of every Skrell and alleviating the impact current events have had within our nation.

It is my hope that with these reforms, tensions will be relieved in the Traverse; while our species normally looks toward the future, the Grand Council and I believe that we need a focus on solutions that can alleviate the socio-political problems faced by the Nralakk Federation now." - Weashbi Jrugl's opening speech as part of the announcement made earlier today.

While these reforms do not address every issue raised by the Independent Traverser Movement, the Grand Council reiterated that this is only the first of many actions that will be taken to address the "legitimate concerns brought forward". The current round of reforms focuses on the following:

  • Codified protections for Tertiary numericals within the Social Credit System, including guaranteed access to basic services and housing for those that show improvement, along with anti-discrimination clauses focusing on access to career and educational advancement.
  • Amendments to current policy regarding economic planning and quotas. These amendments will focus on broadening factors that the Federation will consider while establishing production quotas throughout the Federation similar to what has been seen as a result of the Phoron Crisis.
  • A "Committee for Traverse Well-Being" will be formed from members within the Grand Council, its sole focus being the coordination of efforts to respond to crises throughout the Traverse.

Initial reactions of known Independent Traverser Movement members appear to be mixed, but relatively positive; representatives of the movement have described the proposed reforms as "promising". Whether this means the movement will peacefully halt its activities in the Traverse remains to be seen.

Kal'Qi Weibii Speaks on Independent Traverser Movement

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Kal'Qi Weibii, one of the nominees for Grand Councillor during the 2463 elections and now the de facto leader of the Lyukal, has publicly given their support for the Independent Traverser Movement.

Since their exodus to the Republic of Biesel, taking their supporters as well as other subversive elements in the Traverse, Weibii has established themselves as a prominent anti-Federation figure abroad. Their activities until recently have largely focused on the Starlight Zone and the displaced Skrell who inhabit it. However, they have now publicly announced their support for the Independent Traverser Movement and its goals.

Quote

[An image of Kal'Qi Weibii on a podium in front of a crowd of Skrell. They are flanked on both sides by Skrell in the uniforms of both the Zrosian Watch and Xii'Eyes. The crowd has both Skrell in traditional Federation dress and those wearing human-designed clothing.]

Since the formation of the Independent Traverser Movement, Kal'Qi Weibii has attempted to gather support for the movement abroad, using their status as leader of the Starlight Zone to promote anti-Federation rhetoric to the public. Their speeches have also allegedly called on the human governments of the Spur to support the cause of the Independent Traverser Movement, with Biesel being a notable target due to the nation's history with the Solarian Alliance and its still newly-found independence. These calls for action have so far received no official statement by politicians within the Republic of Biesel. (Editor's note: due to their inflammatory nature, the Warble Enquirer has elected not to publish Weibii's speeches).

While the Republic has officially ignored these calls to action, it is believed that Weibii has found success in the average Biesellite citizen. Through the embellishment or omission of facts in their propaganda, a growing number of non-Skrell have shown positive support for the ITM. Representatives to the Republic of Biesel have been attempting to rebuke Weibii's claims, but so far have reported little success:

Quote

"We have to keep in mind that while our two species have spent the better part of a century as close allies… Humanity holds more importance on ideals that we would consider antithetical to the aims of the Nralakk Federation and Skrellian society as a whole." - One of the Representatives to the Republic of Biesel discussing their views on human support for the Independent Traverser movement.

A representative of the Grand Council responded to non-Skrell support of the Traverser movement, saying the following:

Quote

“The societal and cultural differences between Humanity and Skrell is wide. With these calls that other species align to their ideals, it is easy to glean over the unique situation of persons they are advocating for- even among themselves these ideals create strife.”

Independent Traverser Movement Angered Over "Lack of Progress" on Reforms

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Representatives of the Independent Traverser Movement have once again publicly come forward against the Federation over the perceived "lack of progress" made on enacting reforms in response to the movement's aims.

Members of the anti-Federation “Independent Traverser Movement” have been quick to decry the Grand Council's progress as "needlessly slow", while at the same time noting the reforms that have passed so far are "ineffective half-measures". The call for more radical reforms is believed to have been made by the more extremist factions within the movement, showcasing the fractured nature of the organisation and the lack of cohesion within its ranks.

In comparison, prominent Idols within the Federation have praised the reforms as "commendable", noting the positive changes these reforms have already introduced. The reforms in question introduce new policies such as changing the legal status of tertiary numericals, where more rights are afforded to the class if the individual is considered to be "in good standing". The calculation of quotas and how the Grand Council will organise a response to crises in the Traverse have also changed with the reforms, aimed to directly address the problems observed during the Phoron Crisis and the impact it has had on the Federation.

Councillor Jrugl issued a statement regarding the Independent Traverser Movement's negative response to the progress made so far:

Quote

“The Grand Council have been reviewing additional addendums to the planned reforms, where careful deliberation is needed to ensure both viability and to promote the best approach to the public’s interest. The Federation will not blindly engage in policy changes without fully appreciating the ramifications it will have for its citizens. It is necessary to work towards a promising compromise that will benefit all citizens.”

It is currently unknown how the Independent Traverser Movement will react to the statement, but it has already been reported that high-profile members of the organisation are "aggravated" by the situation. Citizens have expressed confusion at the impatience of the Independent Traverser Movement, especially considering the unprecedented speed that the current set of reforms was enacted. Government officials have given their own thoughts on the behaviour, believing that it is an extension of the "generally thoughtless behaviour of certain individuals".

Lori’Eldap Joolro’Loveq Passes; Funeral Parade on Aliose Attracts Incredible Number

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The venerated Lori’Eldap passed away last week following months of hospice care in Orq’wesi. Her last weeks with us were spent receiving visitors ranging from former students to cherished colleagues in the medical field. The hospital she was staying in had to be secured by local Xomor Security services twice due to visits from Weashbi Jrugl and Liqin Hsiao-Li, CEO of Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals. Outside of this, Lori’Eldap and her staff have seen to the distribution of her current research projects to trusted colleagues within the University to ensure no progress or potential innovation was lost due to her passing.

Following her death, Grand Councillor Weashbi announced the Grand Council, with gracious permission from Lori’Eldap’s Quya, opted to personally handle the funeral arrangements to honor the memory of this incredible pillar of Skrellian science and progress. Shortly following that announcement, Weashbi informed the public that the funeral procession would be a public affair on Aliose.

Surprising few, Skrell from all over the Federation began pouring into Aliose, swamping local short-term housing services and Qel’Zvol Hospitality facilities. One worker claimed they were having to appropriate storage units to house overflow. A few civilian class hulls owned by Qel’Zvol Hospitality were pulled into orbit to serve as additional housing for the visitors.

The funeral procession began at Aliose University of Medical Science’s courtyard and proceeded along Orq’wesi’s main street towards the veiled project on the edge of the city constructed in haste by the Grand Council. The procession itself was headed by Weashbi Jrugl, Aliose’s Planetary Councillor Kuvaa'Purnaq Taqtoq and in an unannounced appearance, C’thur Queen Mouv. These leaders were followed by the casket, carried on a hover-craft being ceremonially guided to its resting place by Lori’Eldap’s Quya and Qu'Poxii.

Behind the casket, a large formation of Starchanters and Starkeepers marched, chanting the Devourer of the Cosmos and recounting Lori’Eldap’s accomplishments in verse. The Starkeepers projected the Poet above Orq’wesi on a cloudy night sky as the march began, so the stars could observe Lori’Eldap’s final journey.

As the procession proceeded through the city, Skrell crowded the edge of the streets and tops of buildings to pay their respects to Lori’Eldap as she passed by. When interviewed many of the Skrell gave varied answers as to their personal reasons for attendance. A vast majority of them came due to themselves or members of their Quya being saved by Skrellian medical services. Behind that category, the largest reason for attendance was that the attendees were former students of AUMS or Lori’Eldap directly.

As the procession arrived at the holographically concealed building, Mouv turned about and addressed the nearby crowds and newscasters.

Quote

“When the C’thur arrived in the Federation following the vicious attack by the Scourge, it was Skrell Medical Sciences that preserved and continues to preserve our High Queen’s life. It was a great honor to volunteer our Hive’s Workers for the construction of this monument to Lori’Eldap Joolro’Loveq’s dedication and life’s work. We are deeply appreciative of both Aliose and the Federation for this chance to display our gratitude.”

The holographic cover was disabled, and the newly built Orq’wesi Medical Complex was unveiled. A tall, pristine building, domed at the top with white stone intricately carved with the local constellations. The complex is set to prove useful in treating rare diseases in the Federation and beyond. The top dome was revealed to be a mausoleum for Lori’Eldap, so that she may forever watch over Aliose’s doctors and look ever upwards at the night sky.

The Stars grow brighter.

ITM Seize Cities; Local Government and Kala Forced to Relocate

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

In response to an alleged lack of progress in enacting reforms to address their manifesto, the subversive Independent Traverse Movement has begun to seize regions on several planets within the Marauder Systems.

Dissident groups, numbering from hundreds to thousands depending on location, reportedly marched as one, forcing the outnumbered Kala officers to fall back in most cases. Until now, the number of dissidents displayed here was not seen in ITM groups, and the Kala already stationed on the affected planets were too few in number to repel them. Local government officials and Kala detachments have been forced out of government buildings, city centres, spaceports, and other planetary infrastructure considered vital to day-to-day operations as a result.

The Nlomkala and Qukala have already begun to reorganise in response to the development, setting up temporary facilities and cutting off these ITM strongholds from the wider regions on each planet. Reinforcements are making their way to the beleaguered troops already stationed planetside. Access to power and water supplies has been shut off completely where possible, with failsafes and other design features making it more difficult in some cases. Nlom relays have been a concern in particular for the government, and while there were attempts to take these facilities, security forces along with Kala intervention made them unsuccessful. The actions of the Kala and Xomor security officers have been praised by the Grand Council, and have ensured that these planets still have a secure connection to the wider Federation's Wake.

Representatives of the Independent Traverse Movement have explained their actions as a "proactive response to a lack of cooperation by the Federation", stating that they have "experienced little communication" on the topic of additional reforms. State officials have been quick to respond, reiterating previous comments (see: Independent Traverse Movement Angered Over "Lack of Progress" on Reforms"), and chastising the movement for deteriorating the situation.

While unavailable for comment at this time, the Grand Council has expressed regret that a peaceful resolution could not be found, and that options on how to proceed are already being discussed.

Weapon Shipment Found On Marauder Vessel; Possible Independent Traverser Movement Involvement Suspected

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The Qukala has reported that a large shipment of weapons has been seized following the detainment of a Marauder-linked vessel within the Q'elpi region of the Traverse.

The vessel and crew were detained following a failure to follow proper procedure as the Qukala was inspecting their cargo hold for contraband. The vessel was highlighted for investigation by local Kala officers due to its poor maintenance and the lack of modern systems typically installed on civilian vessels. While older models do still see service in the Traverse, they are also known to be heavily utilised by Marauder groups throughout Federation space. Lack of maintenance led attending Kala to believe it was a Marauder ship. Following a deeper inspection of the vessel, a hidden compartment was revealed which contained crates of small arms and other contraband.

The weapons have been described as advanced weapons of a calibre not available to civilians within the Federation in the full public report of the incident, which the Grand Council has referred to as troubling. The seized weapons reveal not only that Marauder groups have access to military hardware, but that these crates were likely intended for a buyer within the Federation itself due to how they were stored. Since the location of the vessel was relatively close to the Marauder Systems, the Federation’s leading authorities have declared a strong likelihood of the Independent Traverser Movement being involved in arms trafficking.

Where these weapons originated from is still unknown, but it is likely that the lawless nature of the Human Wildlands had allowed rogue parties to salvage and sell military weapons from former Solarian Alliance installations. The Grand Council has reassured citizens that rumours of these weapons originating from the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate directly are "completely unfounded":

Quote

"The Stellar Corporate Conglomerate and its associated megacorporations have confirmed that the weapons discovered are not weapons that are made available to non-corporate assets… The Conglomerate also denies any involvement with rebellious movements both in the Federation and elsewhere. The investigation has so far revealed no evidence of megacorporate involvement." - An excerpt from the statement made in response to rumours of the Conglomerate dealing with subversive elements within the Federation.

The crew of the vessel have been detained and are currently being questioned. The Grand Council has stated its intention to ensure the investigation is given top priority. Qukala and Nlomkala deployed to the Marauder Systems have announced a "renewed effort" to crack down on dissident activity within the region to pre-empt a possible insurgency. Until now, the conflict in the Marauder Systems has shown no signs of escalating into open violence; making the discovery of these weapons a surprise to many.

Dissident leaders who routinely speak on behalf of the Independent Traverser Movement have made no comment on the incident; which has incensed citizens online as they demand answers. The discovery of the weapon shipment is seen by many to be a sign of impending violence- resulting in many Skrell in the Marauder Systems lodging requests to leave the system. Whether these requests will be granted is unknown at this time.

Jrugl Demands Action; Kala to Increase Efforts to Pacify Dissident Traversers

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The Grand Councillor has again called for decisive action to be taken following the discovery of a weapons shipment believed to be inbound to Independent Traverser Movement members within the Marauder Systems:

Quote

"The incident involving smuggled weapons has opened my eyes to the extremes this subversive element in our society is willing to go to in order to achieve their aims. We have attempted diplomacy… and it is evident that it has failed to pacify the more militant members of the Independent Traverser Movement. Decisive action must be taken to protect the Federation, its people, and what it stands for." - Grand Councillor Jrugl's statement on Viv-ID.

The Qukala and Nlomkala have already begun a proactive campaign of detaining known ITM members and possible affiliates within the Marauder Systems following the discovery. Councillor Jrugl's call to action has been considered an affirmation to continue this new effort and to quickly organise a proper response to the occupation of critical infrastructure throughout the Marauder Systems.

The statement was paired with a broad rejection of citizen requests to leave the Marauder systems (see article "Weapon Shipment Found On Marauder Vessel; Possible Independent Traverser Movement Involvement Suspected"), with citizens only being allowed to leave following background checks regarding their activity in the region during its period of martial law. The Nlomkala issued a statement regarding the situation, justifying the decision as a necessary requirement to prevent ITM sympathisers from evading the authorities.

Kala Commence Operations as Reinforcements Arrive

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Kala reinforcements have arrived at the Marauder Systems and are now commencing operations to dismantle Independent Traverser Movement bases in the region following Grand Councillor Jrugl's call for decisive action. This is in response to the discovery of a weapons shipment inbound to the subversive movement that was captured by Qukala agents just over a week ago.

Following the seizure of critical infrastructure across affected systems (see article: "ITM Seize Cities; Local Government and Kala Forced to Relocate"), Kala across the regions in the Marauder Systems have begun preparations to quell the more militant members of the Independent Traverser Movement. The temporary facilities established have allowed a modicum of normality for citizens living in affected areas, while the "Hazard Zones"  have undergone restrictions to limit their ability to surge against the rightful authorities. With additional Kala detachments arriving on the affected planets, the Kala are now commencing their operations with haste.

While it cannot decisively be said, the Kala have high hopes that the operation will be a resounding success thanks to the expertise each branch is providing to the operation. The Nlomkala officers have been advising the Qukala on crowd control and civilian policing procedure while the Qukala train their partners for urban strategies and counter-insurgency. When asked for comment, a member of the Kala had this to say:

Quote

"The last few weeks have been spent undergoing training to ensure that a swift and decisive response can ensure a safer Federation. The movement will not be able to offer effective opposition now that we're no longer at a disadvantage either by their numbers or their tactics - not to mention the fact that most of them have been living in squalor without power or running water. Their morale and motivation to continue this agitation are at their lowest, that I'm sure of." - W–, one of the Kala involved in the operation. Name censored to protect their identity.

Already, some smaller ITM bases have been raided and returned to normal operation, revealing the shocking conditions these agitators live in as a result:

Quote

[Several pictures are attached to the end of the article. They show a former government building-turned-ITM base of operation. The pictures show a building that has fallen into disrepair after weeks of lacking maintenance, making the interior look like a slum.

Cabinets, tables, and chairs have been stacked up at key points, closing off many sections in an attempt to secure the building from assault. Several rooms have been converted into living quarters, with bunkbeds crammed together in an attempt to fit as many Skrell as possible. One room has been turned into a makeshift kitchen, along with a water purification station in response to the building's water being shut off.

A large room has been converted into what appears to be an information centre, with several censored documents and pictures strewn across the table - some of which show signs of fire damage. Multiple open crates are shown with signs that they were used to store weapons, and many appear to still be half full.

Near the end of the gallery are pictures showing several Skrell cuffed and sitting against a wall, while two officers from the Qukala and Nlomkala watch them intently.]

Subversives Bring Terror to Streets and Sky as Kala Continues to Make Progress

 Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Quote

[[A video of Nlomkala officers in full riot control gear lined up along a main street is present front and centre at the top of the article. Angry Skrell protestors can be seen on the opposite end of the street, vocalising loudly and puffing their cheeks as they advance on the officers. This forces the Nlomkala to step back from the group. Moments later, a signal is visibly given from a Nlomkala in the rear of the line and what appears to be Qukala shooters begin raining stun beams down from buildings over the street. The video ends with the Nlomkala steadily advancing down the street pushing the rioters back and arresting those that fell.]]

Subversive elements in the Traverse continue to escalate the conflict between the Independent Traverser Movement and local Kala enforcers. Skrell across multiple planets have reportedly drawn weapons during high-profile demonstrations, resulting in chaos as our brave Kala officers continue to uphold and maintain order as they protect loyal citizens from these criminals. As seen in the video, both Nlomkala and Qukala are working in tandem to great effect as they pacify dissidents in the latest efforts to bring the separatist movement to heel.

On the ground, demonstrators and other subversive citizens are gradually being pushed back from main city centres and other regions deemed vital for normal societal operation in the Marauder systems. Suspected depots, caches, and other bases of the Independent Traverser Movement are quickly secured and dismantled as the Kala advance into territory that has, until now, been considered firmly in the hands of agitators. Actual violence has so far been minimal, with clashes between ITM supporters and the Kala ending once accurate and non-lethal weapon fire disperses the offenders.

In orbit of some planets, a space-based campaign against Qukala patrols and military checkpoints has begun:

Quote

[[This video is footage from a military checkpoint. A civilian vessel approaches the checkpoint slowly, appearing to follow proper procedure, but then accelerates suddenly, skimming one of the Qukala ships as it breaks through the checkpoint. A red circle points out what appears to be objects being ejected from the civilian vessel. It positions itself for these objects to collide with the military ship before flying away at high speeds.]]

Vessels affiliated with the movement have begun a strategy of "buzzing" Qukala ships stationed at military checkpoints, where they accelerate to high speeds while in close proximity in an attempt to disable or otherwise damage the vessel's equipment. As seen in the video, it also appears that these ships are using mass ejectors offensively, using trash and other items jettisoned to further harass the vessel as they flee. This has caused disruptions, as the Kala ships are forced to dock and temporarily shut down orbital travel completely while vessels are checked for damage. Already, the Qukala have begun seizing and permanently grounding civilian craft not deemed necessary for the regular operations of planets within the Marauder Systems. High-ranking members of the Qukala have described the offending ship crews being "voidbeckoned" for attempting such reckless actions. Some in the military have revealed concerns that the campaign only serves to further limit regular civilian operations in the affected systems and that compliant citizens are suffering at the hands of "selfish tadpoles". Observers have concluded that these tactics are an attempt to embolden civilians as their quality of life in the Marauder systems is further impacted. Fortunately, many Skrell who initially supported the organisation are now turning against it as these actions threaten to further embroil the Traverse in a conflict with no end in sight.

Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl expressed interest in speaking with local representatives in light of this development:

Quote

"The Independent Traverser Movement has revealed its true colours, and it should be clear now what their intentions are: the disruption and upheaval of the Skrellian way of life and proliferation of anarchy throughout the Federation. The conflict sweeping the Traverse is saddening- yet I find myself hopeful in light of the news that there are still those in the Marauder Systems who can listen to reason. The Federation offers a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and hopes that those that are of a like mind will accept it."

Independence Conflict Sends Waves Abroad; Skrell Outside the Federation Clash

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Skrell outside of the Nralakk Federation have begun to clash as sides are taken in the Traverse Indepdendence conflict; especially in human space where the species has proliferated as a result of the close ties between Skrell and Humanity.

Quote

[A series of pictures showcasing similar events in different locations can be seen:

Two large groups of Skrell face one another in a city covered in biomass. Several Diona can be seen forming a line between them. The caption reads "Demonstrations in the city of Nral'Daaq force police to intervene. The city-state of Nral'Daaq has reportedly called on the other states of the Cooperative Territories of Epsilon Ursea Minoris to send support as their own police force is stretched thin. There is reportedly no expectation of violence in Nral’Daaq, but officials are concerned about property damage and an escalation that could lead to violence, not unlikely outcomes if the situation deteriorates."

A domed city with noticeable damage to its interior. A second image that's zoomed in accompanies it, showing its Skrell inhabitants taking to the streets as opposing groups make their presence known. The caption reads "The Xoikko biodome has been sealed off by New Gibson police, as the local government fears that the situation could spread to other areas. Non-Skrell that were inside the dome were quickly evacuated by sympathetic Skrell, and access to the dome has been entirely cut off."

A dozen Skrell, handcuffed, in what appears to be a cramped brig. The caption reads, "Korormansk Station detains several Skrell after a fight reportedly broke out within the settlement. Multiple submarines are forced to stay docked as their Psionic Navigators are processed. The cramped conditions of most of Europa's settlements have meant that many detained Skrell have had to be transported to nearby settlements due to lack of space in Korormansk's brig."]

Across multiple planets outside the Federation, Skrell are reportedly clashing against one another as the situation escalates in the Marauder Systems. These hostilities have thankfully been non-violent for the most part, as Skrell take to openly debating one another in the streets while blocking opposing Skrell from accessing services. In rare cases, small brawls and property damage have been reported; fortunately with no serious injuries. Skrell have also reported a rift in the local Wake on these planets; where once the Nlom was mostly calm, there is now a noticeable divide as Skrell disunity reaches peak levels. As seen in these images, the conflict has caused high-profile disruptions not only to the Skrell living there, but also for non-Skrell who have been caught in a conflict that does not concern them.

Both loyal and noncompliant citizens alike have been arrested in the dozens by local police. Government officials have begun to make statements regarding the Nralakk Federation and the Independent Traverser Movement's activities impacting their own nations:

Quote

"I am disappointed in the behaviour shown by our Skrell citizens in recent months. The internal struggles of the Nralakk Federation have no place impacting Solarians within our own borders and we hope that the Federation resolves the situation promptly." - Senator Le Hanh Trang of the Solarian Alliance.

"The situation on New Gibson is shocking, to say the least. My heart goes out to those most affected by the violence and I call on the Nralakk Federation to find a peaceful resolution to this conflict." - President Joeseph Dorn of the Republic of Biesel.

"We are disheartened to witness the current unrest we are facing in Nral'Daaq. While we understand the emotions that the Skrell must be facing at a time like this, we do not condone citizens on our planet fighting one another in the streets. We find ourselves hoping that peace will be reached soon." - Preserving the Song of the Forest of Peers, representative of the Cooperative Territories of Epsilon Ursea Minoris' federal government.

In addition to these statements, a representative of the Grand Council said the following:

Quote

"The Nralakk Federation does not condone the actions of its citizens abroad and calls for an end to the current violence. The Federation's internal conflicts should not spill into the wider Spur, and for that, we apologise. These Skrell do not represent our nation or the whole of our species, and we ask that our neighbours and allies be patient as we attempt to de-escalate the issue at hand."

Domestically, the Independent Traverser Movement has experienced a schism as moderate members of the group seek to distance themselves from their fellow dissidents (see article: "Subversives Bring Terror to Streets and Sky as Kala Continues to Make Progress"). Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl has revealed that representatives of this group have arrived at Kal'lo to negotiate an end to the conflict. No details have been given yet, but it is likely that a public announcement will be made once talks have begun in earnest.

Independent Traverser Movement Faces Schism as Negotiations are Underway

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Cooperative members of the Independent Traverser Movement arrived at Kal'lo earlier today to begin negotiations with the Grand Council. These "moderates" consist of Skrell who, while supporting the Independent Traverser Movement, have elected to distance themselves from their more militant peers. Peers who have continued to escalate the conflict and refuse to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the Nralakk Federation. The Grand Council has given a statement on the event, describing it as a "step towards progress and an end to the conflict".

Additionally, the Grand Council has clarified that operations in the Traverse will not halt while negotiations are underway. The Grand Council believes that the schism in the Independent Traverser Movement has "sufficiently separated those who want peace from those who want anarchy".

Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl said the following shortly before entering the Grand Council chambers with the ITM representatives:

Quote

"Due to the split within the ranks of the Independent Traverser Movement; the Grand Council has decided that halting operations in the Traverse during negotiations will not be necessary… those who are still resisting the Kala have obviously sided with the more militant members of the movement and will face the same consequences."

The radical members of the movement at this time are still resisting Kala intervention in the Marauder Systems. The Kala are making large advances in ITM-occupied territory:

Quote

[[An animated image of a section of the Traverse can be seen, mostly covered in red spots indicating planets and installations under ITM control. As the image plays, more and more of these red spots turn blue, with several statistics on the side of the image showing casualties, estimated damages, and the number of detained ITM members as the timeline progresses.]]

While it may take some time for the meeting to conclude, the Grand Council has reassured readers that both sides are willing to cooperate and that the negotiations will "not be delayed by stubbornness or failure to cooperate".
