BYOND Key: XanderDox

Character Names: Erransis Tup'Fedranin, Klaus Eliade, Laurence Fisher, Amnesty Lund, Kurayne Vealen

Species you are applying to play: Vaurca

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Brown

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, all the parts relevant to my character.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I've always been fascinated by ants, and Vaurca are a species that were basically a mix between ants and prawns and synthetics. Their playstyle and lore also interests me.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

Vaurca are considerably alien to humans, bound (Which are the only kind I'll be playing) are like synthetics, but even more subservient as they can't free-think. Orders are orders, they must be completed, and obstacles must be bypassed or eliminated. Their loyalties lie strongly with their hive and it's Council and Queen, and also with NanoTrasen (As that's who they've been ordered to assist) . They practically worship Unbound and the Hive I'll be playing as also worships humanity. Then you have the mechanical differences, such as the speech and weaknesses to light, as well as the roleplaying of an aversion to bright lights in general. All around they're reall buglike and that makes their roleplay, especially bound roleplay, completely different from humans.

Character Name: Ka'Viax'Terrance Vess'ex

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

A Duty Officer of Central Command Internal Affairs looked at the 50 Vaurcae standing in front of him and his interns. The Vess'ex Hive had recently sent this shipment of drones to the Odin, to be deployed across NanoTrasen's facilities. He approached the Vaurca standing in the center of the front.

"What is your name?"

"Ka'Viax'Terrance Vess'ex." the Vaurca clicked, the Duty Officer looked upon him with curiosity.

"Terrance?"

"Yezzzz." the Vaurca clicked again, unmoving.

An intern standing behind the Officer spoke up, in a shy tone, plagued with cowardice

"S-sir... The Vess'ex Hive is known to name themselves in human traditions... In a form of worship..."

A grin grew across the Officer's face, "Worship?"

The intern nodded.

The grin grew into a smile, and the Duty Officer looked at the Vaurca.

"Terrance, grovel at my feet."

The Vaurca clicked once, before getting down, and gently scratching at the Officer's laced shoes with its feelers and making clacking sounds, the Officer laughed, before kicking the drone sharply in the head, causing it to fall over. It quickly got back on its legs and arms and returned to grovelling.

"That's enough Terrance.", the Vaurca clicked, and returned to their previous position, standing in front of the Officer, some yellow blood trickled down their exoskeleton.

"How many of these do we have Richard?" the Duty Officer looked over his shoulder to the intern who had spoken before.

"I-it's Robert sir... And this was a shipment of fifty sir... Fifty Vess'ex drones."

The Duty Officer nodded, "And they're all as obedient as this one?"

The intern nodded.

"Excellent. The front few rows can be distributed among our facilities in the cloud, the rest can be sent to Biesel and New Gibson. This one though, this one goes to the Exodus, I want to pick on him some more in the future."

The intern nodded, scurrying off with a clipboard in hand, the Duty Officer nodded to two Odin Security Guards on either side of the room, and they escorted him out, and locked the door behind them, leaving the Vaurca without any light or contact.

What do you like about this character?

We don't see many if any bound Vaurca, and they're completely subservient. I also like that in line with Vess'ex's obsession with humanity, that this drone has been dubbed Terrance.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

7-8/10 most times, 5-6 on bad nights.

After explaining via looc that I was learning IAA, Amnesty Lund took my character (Clara Taylor) through a great crash course in IAA ic'ly, and helped me get into the role (even though I lost it now because head whitelists). Erransis Tup'Fedranin is also an incredibly assertive and a great character and does RP interactiong yadayadayaya. I am sure he will do great with robot prawn.

I never see bound Vaurcae around anymore, and I don't believe I've ever seen Vess'ex. I feel like the backstory really conveys a proper understanding of the circumstances which account for Vaurca being here and aboard the station, that is, they're obedient workers. And I think a Vess'ex is the most sensical type of Vaurca to find in human space. Xander is a really active member of the community, and I believe they can be trusted to bring about fascinating role-play for our server through a Vaurca whitelist.

Xander is probably the only reason I have any good characters, especially those in Command. Pretty much introduced me to roleplay with actual depth. I played on the server before then with mediocre characters that were pretty bland. So yeah, a definite +1

Xander is a veteran roleplayer on this server. He has contributed to so many aspects of what makes Aurora special and I cannot recommend him enough. I know V-daugs have been getting a bad press recently but I have no doubt that Vaurca in the hands of Xander will be more then great.

Thank you all for you +1's and your kind feedback, I am glad that there are people here who don't think I'm a cancerous lump of Xanderaids <3
