How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since Q4 2015

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: To make engineering great again.

When I am on the server engineering is usually completely understaffed.

I want to change that by providing providing opportunities for interested players to join engineering,

learn the basics and maybe win them as permanent engie players

Why did you come to Aurora?: I wanted to play on a more slow paced server

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:

Role play is being someone else. Becoming that person and doing what that person would do.

A very important part is having fun with other people. Thats why we are all here, isnt it ?


What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:

Moving to a command position changes a few things.

In a command position, you might have the skill to do every possible task but you dont do these tasks.

You are there to organize your department. To delegate tasks and then check if they have been completed successfully.

You are also there for advice, if you co workers dont know what to do in a certain situation.

This also means helping out new players and teaching them what engineering is about.


What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:

Your job is not only to make sure your department works and everyone knows what they should do,

but to make the round interesting for people that wish to play a active role in it.

I plan to do this by offering various construction project to people that wish to participate in them.

Character name: Richard Jonson

Character age: 42

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

He grew up on Phorston, a Mid-Sized City on New Gibson, where he attended the Engineering Branch of the local HTBLuVA.

During his time in the HTBLuVA he gained basic experience in all engineering related areas.

After his graduation at the age of 18 he decided to join the IAC during a voluntary social year, where he completed the training to become a paramedic and rescue vehicle driver.

The social year was over in a breeze and he found a interesting job offer as a development engineer for Advanced Atomics, but he still continued to work for the IAC on a voluntary base.


In his first years he provided valuable contributions to the development of various engines including the Advanced Atomics Mk.1 Fission Reactor.

After the development of the Mk.1 he got promoted to a project manager position where he was in charge of development and commissioning of various nuclear reactors and the required infrastructure.

At that time he also decided to leave the IAC because he was travelling all over Tau Ceti and didn't have a lot of time to spare.

After many years as a project manager he was assigned to a project that should be the crown jewel in advanced atomics line-up.

It was the day of the factory acceptance test, when a accident happened and the new crown jewel blew up into pieces.

Shortly after the accident he decided to leave advanced atomics after 18 years in their service.


After an extensive stay in the hospital he started looking for another job that he found at NT.

He passed the Upper-Management Aptitude Test a while after he joined NT and has recently managed to gain experience as a CE

What do you like about this character?:

He has a good all around knowledge and knows when to delegate stuff.

But hes also not afraid to get his hands dirty if he is needed.

He is also the last one to stop his colleagues from trying something out if appropriate safety precautions are taken.


What do you dislike about this character?:

After the accident he became quite keen on following proper procedure and ensuring that every possible outcome is thought off.

If there is a chance that something can go wrong he will demand additional safety measures.

He has gained experience in most areas of engineering except tcoms, where he only knows what they tought at school and that was a long time ago and not much.


What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?:

He knows the ropes and knows what to do in an emergency, but he will delegate to staff if its possible and they are willing to participate.

He also has extensive knowledge in project management and there is not much you can tell him about the different engines. (Be it supermatter, sing or tesla)

And he also has at least a good grasp on how to perform all the tasks a CE might encounter.

He is also not afraid to ask for help if hes not exactly sure on how to perform a task.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I think its pretty good, but there is still stuff I can learn and improve.

Mr Jonson is an engineer i've met often, he's always in medical for something or other, and is pretty darked good at his job.


I appreciate, and agree with the sentiment that engineering is understaffed, and i'd love to see your plan in action. you sound like the chief engineer we need.
