Event Idea: Steam Powered Giraffe Tours Aurora!

The all IPC steampunk band has been invited to visit Aurora! During their tour of Tau Ceti, they'll be stopping by to play a few of their songs and meet the crew!

OOC Info: Two volunteers will play as members of the band, and they will be assigned guards as their escorts. During this time, we will have an antag or two aboard the station.

Please avoid EMP-ing them.

I'm not sure how this event will go given the general lack of instruments aside from a piano that annoys the ever living crap out of people. Are they just gonna walk around looking special or something?

Probably. I could ask the admins to play midis, or I could get the violin ahead of time and try to write up some of their songs in baycode.

Am i the only one who finds this rather inappropriate?

It was curious and interesting when i thought this band was Nebula's original creation. But as Delta points out, Steam Powered Giraffe is a real band which exists, and has millions of views on youtube. (They're pretty darned good too)

Imitating their name seems slightly crass, at best. And possibly opens us to a risk of copyright infringement. I don't see why you couldn't come up with something original.

This falls under fair use (of US copyright law) as we have no monetization. It is, by description, a cover band of the original. Also our entire game is based on a stolen flash drive and gives no tributes to its creator.

Anyways, we've hosted galas with people trying to do assassinations or generally acting like dumbasses. This seems like it would provide some entertainment.
