Make IPCs unable to smoke/wear masks.

Simple (I think), it just doesn't make sense for IPCs to wear masks or smoke, especially since the sprites are all fucked up whenever an IPC wears a gas mask.

Yes to disabling smoking because it's dumb (As long as they're strictly TV-heads), no to masks because voice changers are a thing.

Frankly IPCs need a full rehaul, they are full of bugs and oversights. They can eat food with a fork (unless that was fixed), they can smoke, they can catch diseases, changelings treat them as living creatures for the purposes of DNA, I'm willing to bet vampires can even drink 'blood' from them, they can't be repaired if destroyed...

Not to mention gas masks and facial wear in general - there's no reason those should even fit on IPCs, their heads are build entirely different, and there is nothing to say that their 'voice' comes out of a location on their facescreen comparable to the mouth for voice changers to function on. While I recognize that mechanically the point is irrelevant and they perhaps shouldn't be barred from certain mechanics, give them an alternative means of disguising their voice, like a voice chip attachment, or something.

I agree with everything kaed said.

Being able to smoke is really the least of their problems, and honestly its kind of amusing. i've seen a few IPCs doing it and having fun, i'm sure some lore reason could be made up to justify it. something to do with ventilation ports

The only reason IPCs are shit at the moment is because we're strictly on Baycode IPCs, not Jack's shellcode, nor Polaris's android/prosthetic code. Neither of those would make sense to be barred from masks and I seriously doubt we'll be sticking to just shitty Baycode IPCs. So in the meantime, having to make some sort of snowflake traitor item specifically for them to be able to utilize voice changer functionality is incredibly stupid, for the sake of having to code it whilst keeping in mind "How does one remove a chip, as easily as a mask once captured?".

If we're being picky about what should logically fit on different head shapes, gas masks have no reason to fit on anything other than Humans/Skrell anyways. Snouts/muzzles do not lend to fitting human masks and even then it's still extremely questionable if the straps on a gas mask could be fit over a Skrell's head. But hey, clearly it's just the TV-heads who logically can't fit in masks.

Setting aside the off topic part about other races, IPC already have a snowflake item they are required to use to go EVA, a snowflake way of 'eating', and I don't see why we shouldn't at least make an effort to further accentuate their non-organic nature by not simply making them mechanically the same as organic races for the sake of convenience. As for removing their special voice changer, the chip was just an example. It could be like, a magnetically attached cover over their voice ports, and you just pull it off. One might argue that is more obvious than a gas mask if someone inspects them, but I counter with the argument that wearing a gas mask for no reason is suspicious of its own accord when you are an IPC. You aren't going to win the stealth game no matter what you do, so why not make it a little more logical. It might even make more sense to provide them with a special loadout item that is identical to the voice changers but under normal circumstances is nothing but a fluff item (high def music speakers? I know some IPCs like playing music over the comms, this would give them some justification)

If you smoke, or you live in a house with someone who smokes, you know that tar from cigarettes can really fuck up electronics. Even smoking in the same room as a PC tower for an extended period of time can effectively halve its operational lifespan.

It really isn't off-topic, if your argument is going to involve the head-shapes of a species, then naturally the counter-argument is to bring up the logical point that gas masks wouldn't fit the heads of /any species other than humans/. That this game, think about it, already makes no sense regarding the fitting of clothing and attire. That can't be fixed unless one takes a good look at attire as a whole.

This about sums up why smoking robots wouldn't work. A good, solid arguing point.

A bound IPC is highly unlikely to be found smoking a cigarette unless such action suits its purpose. An unbound IPC is much more likely to be found smoking a cigarette as they are free in doing so. It is highly nonsensical for IPCs to smoke as the tar from cigarettes are assumed to damage their internal electronics, it must be said that it is also equally nonsensical for humans to enact the same practices as tar, too, damages their internal body systems to some extent; unless said cigarettes are tar-free, which I'd assume, in the year 2458, such cigarettes would have been innovated.

Cigarettes have stress-relieving properties for humans, alongside an addictive nature. Neither occurs for robots unless for whatever reason they have some kind of organic brain that they choose to dump chemicals into via implants when they smoke to fool them into an addiction or some such... Which sounds interesting but unusual.
