Frances Posted November 24, 2014 Share Posted November 24, 2014 The prison event we ran earlier gave me an idea: we could really do with some additional Z-levels for the sake of roleplay. Repurposing CentCom for every event works most of the time, but having a bit more variety in our extra Z-levels could allow us to go a long way as far as the places we can emulate. Without further ado, I decided to officialize our prison level. I might use this thread to post other Z-levels I work on (well, technically they're all on Centcom's Z-level, so let's call them maps. But I have a few more ideas in mind, namely a spaceship level we can use for all of those raiders and military events. Link to comment

Prisons do get gamerooms - it wouldn't be hard to think they could have some really crappy videogames, especially in the future (I mean, it's not like the arcade machine is actually /fun/ to play on, tbh). It also serves as a source of toys for people to keep, as their belongings. And toy swords and guns can also be used to induce confusion (and be confiscated by guards). Link to comment

Â Hook it to an asteroid, make it a forced labor mining set up? Also, it might be worthwhile to put the kitchen and botany closer together. Also I'd say the kitchen needs a food processor more than a cereal making machine. (Is that what that is?) Grinder might be a bit too much to ask for, but it's something to think about. Or is this an everyday use kind of prison? Events. Which is why I'm not adding more to it, it's fairly complete as it is and won't see much use except as a backdrop for special rounds. I've been on a very low pop server hosted by a friend of mine, and use adminpowers to build bases out in space/the asteroid all the time. (Atmospherics is always the hardest part; I just open about 12 O2 canisters in the places to make it breathable usually.) Here's a small outpost I built on the asteroid. Â The server died and was reset shortly after atmospherics were legitimately hooked up to this place (the server is supposed to run for days/weeks at a time without stopping, hence the building projects), and I didn't get to screenshot the revisions to certain areas (like the small medbay) except for the first image, but I still think it's a good example of a place the crew would enjoy finding and exploring. I dunno if it's possible here, but I'd love to build layouts for things for new Z-levels. Link to comment

REALLY like the idea of having z-levels (which I presume will be normally unreachable just like z-level 2) for event specific purposes. It will just make thins much much easier when event hosting. Though one thing that will have to be kept in mind whilst making these maps is making them flexible. Make them open enough so that a variety of events can be hosted using them rather then having them linear to only work for one type of event. Link to comment

You'll notice there's no markings of any kind, so this could be a NanoTrasen prison, a Syndicate prison, etc. By deleting the trees and replacing the floor of the main courtyard, it can even be turned into a prison station or ship. I am planning on designing all-purpose areas. Which is why the next two things I'll be making, a ship and (smaller) office will also be more general, non-distinct things. Link to comment

It could be quickly outfitted to be either a civilian freighter, a civilian passenger ship, or an anti-smuggler orbit guard ship. Link to comment
