PSA: Dionaea characteristics enforcement

So. I got word that I have done mistakes and that some Dionaea players/characters have become notoriously... Bad to deal with.

And so I'm announcing that I will be more closely monitoring the players and dishing out warnings. I will be a lot more strict, and will give all players exactly ONE warning for bad behavior before stripping the whitelist.

Some guidelines:

-While combat-ready dionae are a thing, they would be CLOSELY watched and most likely blacklisted from everything but security. This includes gestalts with knowledge of firearms.

-While I do give some leeway, dionaea DO have a sense of self preservation in most cases and so standard "avoid damage" and "don't hunt without a valid reason if it's not your job" apply. Stay out of danger.

-It's not because Dionaea on average got better knowledge that powergaming is allowable. Stay reasonable.

That being said, this enforcement is in effect as of now.

Sorry for letting this go out of control, and sorry to the players affected by the less than good dionaea.

Question: What about the dionaes riding on the cargo tug or Odysseus as a faster way to transport or to get around quickly? I've seen a Medical (CMO?) Dionae using Odysseus as a way to get around the areas during non-emergencies, I've reported this to the staffs twice and they seemed to have 'shrugged' it off and jotted notes down. What then? Report it to you for you to strip their whitelist?

Only if paperwork for equipment requisition was not filled. That is less of an issue, to be honest.

That, or if it's used to aid an undesirable behavior like validhunting or such.

I've run into a Diona player screaming at me in OOC after round end because my quartermaster character took too long to get him a cargo tug. He claimed I was deliberately delaying and would report me to the admins next time. While I honestly doubt anything would come of this, the diona players using cargo tugs and Odysseus mechs to effectively powergame around one of their race's weakness, and the sheer sense of entitlement to do this that some are developing is concerning.

I'd suggest reporting that person. They shouldn't behave like that. I wouldn't do it publicly though, either let a staff member or lore dev know.

This was a few days ago, I only remember their role which I won't state since I don't want to encourage a witch-hunt. If it ever happens again, then I'm definitely reporting it.

So.... there's a few things to note about said incident.

1. The ordered cargo tug sat in the cargo bay for over an hour and ten minutes (The entire round after it was ordered), and the quartermaster refused to hand it out until it "passed customs." Even going so far as to heavily chastise and berate a cargo tech with a thorough chewing out for trying to give it to the Diona.

2. He kept calling the Diona in question a tree while they were waiting for it, repeatedly insulting them and refusing to give them it even though it was sitting right there.

3. The order had been approved and its purpose for emergency medical use stated before it was ordered and accepted

They had every reason to expect and feel entitled to receive the cargo tug considering the order was approved all around and it was ordered for them, and sitting in a crate in cargo bay. I felt the need to bring this up because I really would not chalk this up as an incident of Diona being bad, you really did obstruct handing it out in every way. Their multiple attempted break-ins which began at about the 30 minute mark following it arriving at the dock to take what was ordered for them was also perfectly justified in that they were an antagonist.

Wether they were an antagonist or not, when someone breaks into the cargo bay, which him and others were constantly doing, I need to stop my work to usher them out. I was dealing with constant break ins from the half-way point on, which slowed actually shipping anything to a crawl. I don't allow big-ticket items to be delivered unless the recipient signs for it, so I had to prepare an NFC-1000 form for it, and other orders to deliver. Had people kept out, he might have received it sooner. Regardless of delays, it does not warrant screaming at me in ooc like a petulant child.

No you don't. If someone is trespassing, you call security and let them handle it

Alright, minor correction, I need to stop what I'm doing, ask them to leave, call security when they don't, let security in when they get they get there, have security escort them out, all while watching them so I can tell security if they've stolen anything so they don't get to walk away with a half dozen widgets or try to order a bunch of contraband on the ordering console. Then I can go back to drawing up the requisition forms, shipping crates out, and making deliveries.

That is hilarious. I would have made endless regulation excuses.

I'm quite used to doing that to people who jerk the cargo department around. I know my paperwork and can be a nightmare to people like this. I try not to do it without justification though.
