Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I've liked playing robots since starting SS13, IPC's are the next step from them to playing newer roles and having new opportunities for roleplay. Where once you had the master and servant relationship with many of the people you interacted with as a robot, as an IPC you could have many more. I want to play IPC's to make characters that can develop past the master and servant mold to other more complex relationships, some which might even consider IPC's a friend, or at the very least, an equal.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

IPC's are entirely mechanical. Being completely synthetic they are vulnerable to EMP and Heat.

They require no oxygen, food or sleep to survive, but instead feed on electrical power.

To traverse space coolers are needed to keep their systems from overheating.

Damaged IPC's are brought to robotics facilities instead of medical.

Due to being completely synthetic they cannot be cloned and chemicals do not work on them.

IPC's do not experience pain from any damage they may sustain.

IPC's would generally have less cost of living than the average human, needing less space and having less general needs.

Character Name:ALICE

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

ALICE, or the Automated Learning Intelligent Computer Environment is an extremely old Artificial intelligence, being constructed and installed on the Odin about the same time as when construction on the NMSS Odin was completed. During its tenure, ALICE has served countless Nanotrasen Stations, from the Exodus,Luna,Apollo and onward. For its time, ALICE was state-of-the-art, classified as a Designed-Shard Intelligence, with ALICE shards being loaded onto ready available robotic shells. Being a networked consciousness, at any one time there may be more than one ALICE in service, with each ALICE merging with the main intelligence at the end of its use. Due to ALICE's use in this manner, and with the advent of positronic intelligence units, ALICE has been used less, with roles being delegated to superior positronic intelligences. Its creators, attempting to prove that their creation can continue to be useful have pushed forward a new intelligence sharding process, allowing ALICE to inhabit integrated positronic units. For the researchers that made ALICE, it could be heralding a new cycle for their company or it could be the beginning of their swan song.

What do you like about this character? I like interweaving the established history of the server into my characters, ALICE is no exception, and these historical events, like being in use before positronic intelligences were made, affects how I play them.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10, I have my highs and lows, but I believe I do pretty well when it comes to robots at least.

Its an application for IPCs not particular characters. Though I am flattered you remember a character from when I first started playing this game years ago.

I honestly support this, given that Bygone has had trouble in the past with law-bound synthetics. He struggles with that, and has, but I feel as an unlawed one, he'd probably have a more natural ability to roleplay a synthetic, despite his obvious ability to do so.

I only ask that you keep the plasma fires to a minimum, and refrain from any BDSM ERP on-station, and you'll be golden in my eyes, Wisey-boy.

Yes I was bad in the past, but thats the past, years past, on another server, with different forms of acceptable play. What matters is I know how to play synthetics to and above the standards of this server and how to RP them, debating the merits of which this forum serves the purpose of.

First off, I think you deserve bonus points for rating yourself "just" above average. I immediately have a great distrust of anyone who rates themselves very highly in the roleplaying department.

Second, points for that big, all capitals name actually meaning something.

Third, gonna need some more feedback on this. I get the feeling the other guy is a little biased because you seem to know each other! Tip: come to my house and end my life and post the link to this application in OOC during some peak hours.

That, and Bygone's played with a bound synthetic, and I think with all the AIs played, he understands the concept of being a synthetic. Also, an IPC ALICE would be freaking cool.

I've had personal experiences with ALICE. I can tell already that you hold your synthetic characters to a good standard when you play them through being a bound robot. I also appreciate how you use the history of the server for your character. You don't have any negative feedback that would give me pause and your positive feedback reinforces my belief that you can be trusted with a whitelist for IPC.
