Server Moderator Application

Basic Information

Byond Account: Dreamixpl

Character and AI Name(s): link

Preferred means of contact: Anything, really. I can do Discord, PM's, Byond, e-mail, traditional mail, even Skype if necessary.

Age: Eighteen in a month.

Timezone: GMT +1

When are you on Aurora?: Varies. Depends on my will to play. Usually in the evenings, 18:00-02:00 GMT+1? But I may probably also hop in during earlier hours, or stay late. Forums, I check them a few times everyday.

Experience

How long have you played SS13?: Since around January 2015?

How long have you played on Aurora: Since around January 2015? I'm not some kind of traitor who abandons my server.

How much do you know about SS13 game mechanics?: Most things, I think? At least the pre-Baycode stuff. I can always host a private server to learn things.

Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Nope, not at all. Not even non-SS13 experience.

Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I was banned in January 2015 for EoR grief. I came back later, and got warned for shit-antagging. I learned my lesson and never played non-group antags ever again.

Personality

Why do you play SS13?: I like the community, even if I can find a reason to hate every one of you if I need to. I got engaged and maybe addicted, always coming back to at least see some of the OOC shitposting. I sometimes play, too, I really enjoyed the three-ninja mini-event Skullo recently did. Also, It's sort-of an english-learning thing for me, I was a lot, lot worse in the language a year and a half ago, my typing speed was horrible, I had to play the game with google translator open in the web browser to communicate with people.

Why do you play on Aurora?: ^That^ Also, I never really played on any other server. I fear being the newfag, and having to learn people.

What do moderators do?: They moderate? They try to keep the game enjoyable for most players and have them play by the rules.

What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: ^Doing that?^ Being someone players can depend on, or being helpful or something.

Why do you want to be a moderator?: ^To do that^ And to help the server? I wanted to apply for the past two recruitment waves, but was worried about possible inactivity.

What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I speak engrish and I'm not too retarded. I like to think I'm one of the Aurorian veterans. Is that good?

How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Insulting is powerless on me, considering that I myself like to do so (insulting players I'm supposed to deal with is a no-go, obviously). Stress, well, I like to think I know when to stop and/or take a break. I rarely get seriously angry, maybe bothered or arguing, but not legitimately angry.

Anything Else You Want to Add: I'm a rebel. Well, I wanted to apply. It's worth trying, and I won't be mad if I don't make it. Also, am I doing the title prefix-thing correctly. I think these worked differently on the old-forums.

Dreamix is a mildly condescending but very relatable average joe with a zealous dedication to keeping the roleplay heavy, realistic, and paperwork-heavy.

I definitely support him being a moderator, good guy and all. He's also a smartass, but in the good way.

My main concern isn't anything really related to his strict standards, but rather his personality. People who are constantly sarcastic, and exude a negative or passive-aggressive demeanour tend to bring down team morale. A few applicants in the past have shown tendencies like that, and it did not sit well with the other mods and admins. It's apparently something we pick up on very quickly.

After I talked to him, Dreamix appeared initially oblivious to this. He did also claim that he'll try to keep it out of msay and other mod channels, though I dunno whether that'll be enough. I guess the main interview (still to be conducted by someone else (I need to pester the head admins or something at getting these moving)) will show more.

Imma remain cautious until then. Though a trial probably wouldn't be catastrophic.
