Fox009 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Ckey/BYOND Username: Fox009 Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Spriter (I can do limited coding and mapping too) Past Experiences/Knowledge: I originally started with developing sprites for Hypatia and also helped with their wiki. Eventually, though, I started developing my own SS13 unique server and learned quite a bit from that about coding, mapping, and the inner workings of the game. Examples of Past Work: Imgur Link - http://imgur.com/a/UfDID#0 Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Skype Additional Comments: Since the fall of Hypatia I pretty much stopped playing for a while but finally came back to SS13 to check out Aurora and I'm really enjoying it. The admins have been fair and chill, the rounds fun, and the roleplay is solid here. I'd really like to help with helping with sprites and adding more content. One simple place to start would be a rolled down version of the uniforms (which should be in there already) and can be easily created for those that don't have them. I specialize in weapon, armor, and clothing sprites. I do not have much experience with Git. Lastly, I can do small amounts of coding for things like new items, armor, and clothing to help get them implemented. My main focus for Hypatia was getting Marine uniforms, armor, and weapons going. If Aurora would like their military outfitted, just say the word. This can easily apply else-ware too. They empowered me with the ability to design, within some boundaries, their military content and I had a singular passion for doing that stuff. For a while, I was going from server to server trying to sell my gun sprites as an arms dealer. Maybe we make a deal, no?

Fox009 Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 I love your Star Trek uniforms so much. desire for star trek server rising Yeah, making a Star Trek server was one of my ambitions but there is only so much I could do with limited coding skills. I even wrote up a cool little backstory about it
Nanako Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I'd say we're not really lacking in armour and weapon sprites, but more clothing is welcome. Also, significantly, we have hundreds of things that are missing held sprites. Making those is pretty similar to clothing
Fox009 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 Post it, please. I'd love to read it. I've got probably a 40 or 50 page development document so I'll just post some snippets. You'll also probably just love the Imgur Album I've got here... http://imgur.com/a/JCPN6#0 (More sprite previews too!) Welcome Message: The Federation has recently acquired a distant space station from a slightly corrupt corporation in the distant Gamma quadrant of the galaxy. Previously unexplored and uncharted this realm is dangerous, mysterious, and unknown. The Federation intends Deep Space 13 to be a gateway onward for exploring vessels. Plot The game takes place sometime shortly after TNG, DS9, and Voyager where the Federation discovers a new and unexplored area of space on the outer reaches of Federation explored territory. As the welcoming says they manage to acquire this old space station (designated 'Deep Space 13') from a 'corrupt corporation', a reference to NanoTrasen. Basically, this is based in an alternate SS13/Star Trek universe where NT is having major financial troubles and the Federation makes contact with them and purchases their station. It'd be pretty similar to DS9 in that respect with NT often playing as counter to Federation interests but not as outright antags. The station is in range of a planet named Feyd-Rautha. A somewhat barren world it does support life but not without adaptation, all of the colonists and visitors are required to have breathing apparatuses to survive on the surface. Formerly run as a NT mining colony it now functions as the Federation's main colony in the sector having been colonized by Federation colonists who recently arrived. Story Snippet: Chapter 4- Federation Departs It had been a long journey for the USS THEMIS, a Nova Class starship, as they left the Sol system over a month and a half ago for the edge of the Delta Volanis Cluster. The Federation had recently acquired an aging space station from a failing corporation who was using the area for mining. However, the area there was vast and with much of the cluster unexplored they had difficulty maintaining their business in the unknown space; pirates had been plaguing their transports, the colonists moral was low and rebellious, and a number of their ships had just vanished in the more remote areas. "Ensign Kyle, what is our ETA to 'Deep Space 13'?" Commander Winters asked in his hushed tone. "Three more days at warp five, sir." Ensign Kyle, the young human navigational officer, responded. Over two hundred colonists were aboard the Nova class starship and Commander Winters didn't particularly enjoy having that many civilians aboard his ship as he viewed the colonists as rugged, untrustworthy space cowboys. He relished the thought of finally dropping them off at the station so they could get on with colonization and his crew could finally return to the real work of exploration and discovery. This endeavor had felt like a two month babysitting trip. It was not that the trip was without excitement as they had almost daily drunken brawls between the colonists and an increase in theft, the ship's security team was almost always busy responding or investigating something. Given everything that had happened Commander Winters had complete trust in his Chief of Security and security team. Furthermore, the ship was carrying a small compliment of Starfleet MACO Marines who were to act as the quick response force to any offensive problems. While they mostly kept to themselves there was a tension between the MACOs and the colonists, even the Starfleet personnel kept their distance from the MACOs. Commander Winters couldn't wait to get rid of it all. He then heard the familiar squelch of a ships communication transmission, "Commander, some of the colonists are requesting you in Ten-Forward". Commander Winters paused, thinking to himself, "What now?" before marching through the door to the turbolift. Code: The server was based on the Apollo code-base because of their fancy Z-level ships. Theoretically, you could use that an play the game entirely in a starship rather then on a station. The pods also work great for shuttles. Intent: Intended as a HRP Star Trek experience it'd have to be gradually converted from your normal SS13 enviroment to more of a Star Trek one. My hopes would be to get coders and mappers who could add more features then my limited abilities to include warp engines, better transporters, ship combat, away missions, randomly generated missions, better NPCs. That being said, it functions as-is, just not as I'd like it to. Because of that I haven't really gone public with it for any extended period of time. Cool Images
Chaznoodles Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Going to point out that the clear majority of the icons listed are just recolours, or bits added/taken away from existing icons.
Fox009 Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 Going to point out that the clear majority of the icons listed are just recolours, or bits added/taken away from existing icons. You might be able to argue that for one or two of my early weapon sprites, the Marine armor (based on normal armor), and possibley the security jacket but everything else is completely original. I'd also like to ask exactly what a "recolor" is as these sprites are only 32x32 bits, we're not talking Picasso level stuff here. All of the clothing, for example, should be based on the same base model, the human body, there isn't much you can re-invent there.
