Jakers457 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 The Kitchen shutters should start off closed at the beginning of the shift, to show that the kitchen isn't open. Because it kind of bugs me to see people go 'Hurr durr furr burr hungry' and climb over the counter, basically trespassing and screwing up the kitchen. It's an IC issue I know, but ICly the shutters would be done when the kitchen isn't active.
Frances Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I second this - that's the way a regular establishment works. It is ridiculous that so many people (or people at all) get it in their mind that it's okay to break into the kitchen and use it like you were in your own home. People in real life do not break into their workplace's foodcourt to make eggs on the grills because the restaurant is closed. And yes, part of it is us stopping these people to tell them that it's unrealistic or childish behavior - but we should still have means in place to prevent these sort of incidents from happening at all, as it makes sense both from an IC and OOC perspective.
Susan Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 You can still climb on tables covered by shutters, FYI.
Frances Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 You can still climb on tables covered by shutters, FYI. It should still serve as a deterrent. Climbing over a counter to break into the station's kitchen makes you an idiot. Climbing over a counter protected by clearly closed shutters and phasing through them makes you a double idiot.
SgtSammac Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I second this motion! and request it be carried over to the bar area!
Guest Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 You can still climb on tables covered by shutters, FYI. Bug is getting looked into now the code has been updated
Frances Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I second this motion! and request it be carried over to the bar area! Except that the bar can still be used as a reclining surface, and is sort of a common room for the station, even when nobody is manning it. Having the shutters down by default leaves you to sit on a stool in front of a wall.
LetzShake Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 You can still drink at the bar even if it's not open, just bring in outside drinks. That makes sense. Not so much the kitchen, I agree.
SgtSammac Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 The bar tables exist for a reason. I personally am fed up of round after round seeing people hop over the bar and then getting piss assed drunk and unable to do their jobs. Heck there shouldn't even be a fecking bar with the fact that the station isn't permanently manned with the same crew but rather commonly rotating shifts, but I ain't here to make that argument.

That is hardly related to the bar having shutters at that point, given that people getting drunk implies the bartender is- Heck there shouldn't even be a fecking bar [...]Oh.

How can he do his job properly when s/he isn't there?
Frances Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 That the bartender isn't doing his/her job properly? How can he do his job properly when s/he isn't there? I missed a few words in that, ignore my post u_u
PsychoBear Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Heck there shouldn't even be a fecking bar That's crazy talk!
