Server Moderator Application

Basic Information

Byond Account: The Muncorn

Character Name(s): Lyanna Field, Zia-Jane Semilson, Jeyne Kahale

AI Name(s): Archer (AI and pAI, generally latter)

Preferred means of contact: Discord, normally, though skype and steam work too.

Age: 16

Timezone: GMT+0

When are you on Aurora?: Generally most weekdays post 3:30pm, since I have to go to school. I'm on most weekends as well, at varying times.

Experience

How long have you played SS13?: I've been playing close to 3 years now, though only really consistently playing the past 2.

How long have you played on Aurora: Around 5 months now, I think.

How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know the mechanics fairly well, though my engineering and science are shoddy to say the least. However, if better knowledge is wanted to get the app accepted, I will quite happily start learning some more.

Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I have considerable experience moderating for Unbound Travels a few years ago, and administration on Aphelion and Prospector. The highest I got was Administrator 3, the reason for not being promoted further being that the server died utterly.

Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: No, I have never been banned, and only warnings I've ever had on any server were very minor.

Personality

Why do you play SS13?: I enjoy roleplaying, I always have. My main interest is in the creation and development of my characters, thus why I play on HRP servers like Aurora and UT. I have good interest in the gameplay as well, but my main focus is on the roleplay. Additionally, I enjoy the community here to a great extent, as fickle as it can sometimes be.

Why do you play on Aurora?: Honestly? There where no other HRP servers I could find. However, having played here I've come to enjoy it immensely. The staff are jovial and non-restrictive, which is not something I can say for the servers I've played on previously. The RP is fairly consistent across all players, which is a pleasant experience.

What do moderators do?: Moderators are there to assist players in gameplay and roleplay questions, and to help the server run smoothly. They deal with griefers and other rulebreakers in a calm manner. They are meant to communicate with the playerbase to keep the staff to player relationship healthy.

What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: To be part of a highly regarded group of people that make the server run efficiently whilst keeping the players best interests in mind.

Why do you want to be a moderator?: I enjoy helping people out, and I'm starting to miss it, honestly. I always enjoyed being a moderator even back on UT, where every other staff was either lazy or an awful person. To moderate here would mean quite a bit to me.

What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I never lose my cool, and I'm friendly to everyone I meet, generally.

How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Refer to above, really. I recall having been properly angry around three times this year, none of those from SS13, so, yeah.

Munc is quite reliable, if I could say anything about him is that he takes Roleplay quite seriously, making a whole backstory for his character and actually working on it outside of playing the game advancing the story of that character, something I can't say about a lot of people here that consider themselves great Roleplayers.

The second srs talk is that I know Munc, he worked back on UT, I haven't honestly interacted with him much but he was one of the more serious acting mods actually taking his job seriously instead of just using it as an excuse to ERP in the admin room.

So after all consideration I will give Munc a +1 even if I think that we have enough mods as it is I wouldn't mind having Munc monitoring the round making it safer against the bald.

I've seen Muncorn before on the station, and they have been capable enough in terms of RP. I have processed a Skrell application they made and others seem to agree that he's "good enough."

I notice he doesn't have any Skrell on his character list and hasn't gone anywhere in his character development.

If we can forgive this poser for not sticking to his idea and abandoning his hopes and dreams of expanding his horizons with a different RP experience, I believe Muncorn could be capable of handling a trial. Again, this is only if we can forgive his wishy washy attitude toward the frogmen. Who knows? If he can't stick to a character idea, maybe he won't feel any sense of dedication to his trial.

I tend to judge interviews based on the Three C's. Correctness, Content, and a C word that's better not said in polite company.

His answers are technically "correct" showing he has the potential to pick up on the ins and outs of moderating. His answers were sparse on content, making me think he hasn't opened up to us or is afraid of showing his inner emotions (kyaa ecks dee). To wrap it up, he wasn't a total jerk in his responses, so he's not only in it for the power trip. (That's more of something we look for in Admins. Gotta make sure they're all indignant and pretentious.)

Muncorn is reasonably chill and probably not a total stiff. In my opinion, they can probably handle a trial.

Oh yeah, and they respond to bait pretty well.

That's probably something we should see in our Mods.

I'll back up Loow. Muncorn is like gelatin. That's how un-stiff they are. They would probably jiggle and dance a little if you poked them.

Also, we have a demand for moderation staff right now and supply is rather low. Take what you can get and mold them nicely to avoid worse-case issues regarding the "entry staff quality control" processing part.
