Muncorn
BYOND key: The Muncorn Character names: Lyanna Field, Jeyne Kahale, Korlyarn'Lyuil-Falaan Juol, Neeyla Krolyanara'Ulsarn, Elvex B-20, Nestor 10. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since April, roughly. I've been playing SS13 for a fair few years now though. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Well, at first I didn't intend on playing much Head roles, my characters fitted quite well as they were. However, with the emergence of my new Skrell Korlyarn, and the character I recently created (Featured below), I've been wanting to finally get the whitelist so I can play them to their full potential. Why did you come to Aurora?: Only good HRP server out there, after Prospector Station closed. I wish there was better reasoning, but that's about it. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes, and I have previous experience with them on other servers. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is the act of creating a character with deep and meaningful backstory and personality, but not necessarily interesting backstory and personality. In the form of roleplay we do, we maintain a realistic and believable character in all situations. It is also within this to not create a character that is absurd, unrealistic or simply stupid, such as the infamous 19 Year old pink Tajaran captain. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To provide a good IC image for people to look up to and strive towards, and to set an example of how a department and a station should run. They should ensure that roleplay levels are kept high at all times, as well as keeping paperwork and other duties fulfilled on top of that. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted player is meant to set an IC and OOC example to all players through their OOC behaviour and their ingame actions through their characters and their decisions during events and regular RP. To be whitelisted is to be trusted to roleplay properly and know how to create a realistic character and maintain that, and to show others how to do this by example. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Ethan Nakimura Character age: 52 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Born in Craterview in 2406 to a relatively poor fishing family, he was an avid adventurer and fisherman in his youth, helping with the business since an early age. However, he made the decision quite early on to do something more meaningful with his life, after realising that doing fishing for his whole life didn't fulfil his want to learn and explore. So, he attended a boarding school in Ashton, leaving with a good few general qualification and an impressive record, then being accepted into Ashton Corporate Law School at the age of nineteen. He began to study intersystem law concerning trade, business and Mega-Corporations. Graduating in 2432 with an excellent report and outstanding grades, he applied to become an assistant lawyer for NanoTrasen's Tau Ceti trading department, and was accepted swiftly. He began work quickly, and found once put into the working field, his normally outstanding work was simply above-standard, though he was never dismayed by the change of pace. He steadily rose through the ranks, transferring from the trading department to the internal affairs after a few years, whilst also taking a course in personnel management. In keeping with his history, he was happily allowed to be a Human Resources manager once he applied, managing a small sector of work within Phoenixport. Conducting this business for a good while, he became a general manager of Nanotrasen trading department based in Phoenixport in 2449. Up until now, he has been working there, but paperwork is pending on allowing him permission to work on the NSS Exodus as a Head of Personnel and, where required, a Captain. He is in accordance with this, undergoing a small amount of additional training to be allowed work there, expected to be finished within the week. Ethan is a very charismatic person, and despite the fairly humble family origins, he is well mannered and well spoken. He is highly adept at personnel management, and has been working with NanoTrasen for close to thirty years now and is a well known worker within it. He is known as a very kind, gentle person, inkeeping with his role as a father (He got married to Christopher Smith in 2445, and had their daughter; Emily Nakimura; in 2450) and a friend to many people. What do you like about this character?: He's an enjoyable character, kind, charismatic, and overall enjoyable to work with, whilst also being highly experienced in his field of work. He is an avid supporter of Nanotrasen and their policies, having helped enforce them for most of his working life. What do you dislike about this character?: For one, he's a little bit out of my style of roleplay, for a few reasons. One, he's a guy, which is quite unusual for me, sadly enough. Secondly, he will always go for the peaceful route and avoid conflict, which is the general inverse for many of my character that will try for peace, then give up and resort to violence and force. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He's near overly qualified for the position, and is overall an excellent role model for people to look up to in many respects. He's kind, fun and an excellent talker, whilst doing his work efficiently and with efficacy. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would rate my roleplaying at; without meaning to brag; at a very good level. I've spent a lot of time working on improving it over the years, and have gone from my reference name snowflake psychiatrist lizard lover, to characters so realistic I get bored playing them since they have no special characteristics. Extra notes: Apologies for the short answers, I've never been too good at over-articulation when it comes to these sorts of replies. I'd appreciate constructive feedback in whatever form possible, and I'll try to respond to any that is given. Link to comment
Coalf
I really am amazed at this Muncorn, I know what kind of characters you tend to backstory and this is, amazingly plain and boring. Don't take it as an insult, it's quite refreshing seeing a normal dude being a captain and not only that he's 52 instead of barely hitting the captaincy limit with his age. Also male? Since when do you play guys? Anyways now we get serious. I've played with you, I know you, but do I know you enough? So far every time I encountered you it's been in a normally low tier role such as librarian, plain old medical or a simple security officer and now you want to tackle the power a Captain can have. So I have to give you a question, do you want to be a Captain/head? I mean you made this app yes but have you considered all cons as well as pros? Being a captain can be extremely stressful and as someone who I haven't really seen in a command role this could really ruin your impression of the game, don't forget there are plenty of capable people but you have to deal with greytiding, in-fighting and bickering almost alone, the only people capable of providing help are going to be heads which are (depending on time and day) either taking over your job completely or never there. Plus you will mostly likely be a number one target for all antagonists and that can be frustrating when 7/10 times are spent being dead since somebody decided to bomb your office or the AI just fucked off with oxygen. So I urge you, please, please, think this stuff over, I have met plenty of people who got burned out on playing head roles simply from the fact they were too frustrated with the staff. But if you can answer all of these things positively, I think you would be a capable captain, although I'd keep a regulations tab open in your internet 24/7 from now on, expect a lot of lawyer work and paperwork. tl;dr +1 git gud scrub Link to comment
Kazkin
This faggot spawned in via admin as a ninja just to kill my tajaran Mikhail. I nearly killed him with an acid grenade and my claws. +1 to this app for being the first person to ever successfully kill Mikhail AND have him stay dead. Even if it was admin bus that made it easier.... In all seriousness, while I couldn't say I've known him well I've spoken with him a lot in OOC and rp'd with him several times. I would say he is worthy of being a head of staff for being reasonable, even if most of our conversations are arguing over programming or making jokes in character. Link to comment
Pyrociraptor
Muncorn is a scrub that I like. He's got some nice characters with nice backstories, and finally, we get to see a "normal" captain with no backstory where he fought an army of communist space bears with only a potato and a rubber band. +1 from me with no objections Link to comment
Faris
I've played quite extensively with cornhead here. While I don't believe they've taken any interim positions, I believe they can still be good with this position. You get a +1 from me. Link to comment
