NebulaFlare Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Literally. You know when you slice open a carp/bear/whatever all that blood and gore goes everywhere? Even if you use a butcher's knife, or kitchen's knife, you just can't get the finesse. Like, ew. Let's add a level of sophistication for when you want to be a proper chef and not turn your workplace into some screenshot of a horror flick. Instead, how about: Help intent: you skillfully cut the meat and no blood or gore splattering everywhere! You just get one chunk of meat - so the gibber still gives you more, it's just not classy. any other intent: Same as how it is now, you splatter blood and gore, you uncultured swine. Oh, and you still only get one chunk of the good stuff. Can even add the requirement to table the mob before skinning and cutting it.
Rushodan Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I'm all for this actually, it doesn't make much sense (especially in a HRP server) for the chef to be some kind of knife wielding maniac, splattering blood everywhere left and right. If they want to place the animal on the table and take a little time to reduce the mess (and cleanup afterwards) then why not?
Lady_of_Ravens Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Perhaps a mechanic similar to that used for slimes in xenobiology... put the corpse on the table, cut it open, then extract pieces of meat.
NebulaFlare Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 Perhaps a mechanic similar to that used for slimes in xenobiology... put the corpse on the table, cut it open, then extract pieces of meat. This is even better. I vouch for this.
Alberyk Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 If there is gibs or not is based on the mob size of the creature's being butchered. I feel that mechanic is here to have people use the gibber to butcher big things like cows, because the kitcen's gibber creates a smaller and more controlled mess than just using a knife.

Understandable, but the gibber just chops everything up in 'most productive' fashion. I'm vouching for a quality > quantity method of cooking. There's still some drawback because you get much less than the gibber, but you get to play classy chef with grade A meats, and discard the rest. Perhaps implementing an amount of time during the butchering process to even it out? It's equally offsetting to go 'stab-stab-stab' on Mr Bluespace Bear and get, "Heeeey. bear pelt."
NebulaFlare Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 I still want to see this become a thing. No more messy gorey kitchens, please.
Alberyk Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Voting for dismissal for the reasons already stated.
Kaed Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Voting for dismissal for the reasons already stated. What... reasons? This seems to mostly be people having ideas on how to work this, not saying we shouldn't do it. I don't understand what 'stated reason' you're offering for dismissing this.

Pacmandevil Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I don't see an actual reason for this. if your reason is "it's messy" then just clean it.
Fluffy Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Seconding the vote for dismissal, I do not believe this is really worth implementing.
