Cirukcaller
BYOND Key: Cirukcaller. Character Names: Jarod Dvorsky, Garret Adler, Norman Galloway, Salazar McCarthy and Roger Armstrong. Species you are applying to play: Unathi. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Light, marshy brown. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Indeed I have. I'm even reading it right now to make sure I don't make a fool out of myself. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, it truly has nothing to do in specific with Unathi- don't get me wrong, I chose them first and foremost because they are my favorite out of them all. From their naturally honorbound, prideful society to their archaic, tribal aesthetic, it resonates a song in me that stirrs me in all the right ways. I've been RPing for a long time- I've done many things, things I could come to regret; things I regret, things I'm proud of, but more importantly, a lot of things, and eventually one reaches a certain point where you want to try as much as there is, right? And Unathi are a part of that. Thus far my stay in Aurora has been great, with certain slights here and there when in disagreements but that's normal on an SS13 server, and because of it I want to be more serious about what I offer to the server by, in turn, proving myself responsible enough for the server and its community to provide me with more tools to RP with. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I'd say everything, and at the same time, its one and the same. They're humanoids, entities as you would, they feel; they think, they sow their own calamities and joys. Unathi have their own particular way to paint the canvas, but in the end the story has a similar conclusion. You don't have to be very intuitive to notice the similarities between Unathi and human history, but as we're humans, we of course draw from ourselves. Their rich cultural values, much more colorful than humans as is in present 2459, their need to prove and carve themselves a place in this advent of exploration and the universe as it is for them, now, births an intrepid opportunity for interesting characters to be made out of such foundations. What mostly took me away was the writing for their social mannerisms and their religion. Character Name: Dro'von Omeruk. Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Dro'von was raised in a family of five- his father, Dra'vono, instilled upon his children the traditions and ways of their people from a very young age, yet his mother; his caretaker, teacher and firm supporter Ga'neva, raised him to, much unlike her, pursue his dreams; his wants, his desires and ambitions as he was brought up alongside other children in the lush, green grasslands of Ouerea. Being the first-born son, and so taking a portion of his father's name, Dro'von was to follow a legacy of battle; of martial etiquette, and expectation. His father, much unlike the often aloof and less narrowminded kin that differed somewhat heavily from the most traditional Moghes, was a staunch supporter of the Hegemony. And so it was that when Ouerea finally admitted to rejoining it, he was one of the first to voice his support and proclaim truly loudly what he believe was the very destiny of the Unathi as a whole. Not so much for his eldest son. Dro'von had grown to love his people; to love his lands, and the surroundings of their home, that in its humility shone upon him a desire for harmony. While he saw the joy in battle- in combat, and took it as an endearing sport, like many others, he sought more-so peace than otherwise. But such, adding to it the Unathi way, felt more like childhood whimsy than anything else. As Nanotrasen withdrew from the region, and the Anvil corporation - as he reminded himself of them - tore their planet apart, his vocal disdains in a household he was not the man of began to increasingly disturb the peace, as his father would put it. Feeling threatened by his son's constant disdains, and still relatively young age, he blessed him to pursue work where he felt the most comfortable with, so long as honor was indeed brought back to the family name; to his Clan. Rather than dilapidate in his household, Dro'von took the nearest shuttle drift to Mendell City, where after several tests, physical run-ings and other workplace-related paraphernalia, he earned himself an opportunity at cadetry within the very corporation that had so sourly left his homeplanet, Nanotrasen. What do you like about this character? There's a certain panaché to playing a Unathi that is let loose upon the world, on relatively good terms. Naturally proud, you know - and you would expect - that their every exhert upon the outside world; the outside of their inner community, when exposed to other cultures, would be one to further enhance the view of others upon them, their people; their Clan, their name, and them as a whole. What I like the most about Dro'von, what I perceive I'd play him with should I be chanced in doing so, would be the way he'd try to maneuver himself around all of these different cultures he'd be plunged in, as he was when first arriving to Mendell City in Biesel, now in the heavily mixed Nanotrasen-led NSS Aurora. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm not one to believe in such things as rating one's or anybody else's ability to RP. RP is RP. It is a matter completely, in my opinion, of perspective. We make our own fun, right? I don't go around telling people how to enjoy themselves- I certainly don't throw into people's faces how great I am at having fun either. In my experience, people enjoy roleplaying with me, and I enjoy roleplaying with most everybody. I care little for grammar mistakes; for the linguistically-stunted, or even the ones blockaded by language barriers. Every single person has the ability to make interesting characters, regardless of any technical limitations. With that being said, if I really have to put a number here to judge my ability to RP I'd probably give myself a -10/10 because I hate myself. Notes: Thank you for reading through my autism whether or not it was to your taste. ;=3 Link to comment
Bygonehero
I've had extremely positive interactions with Garret and Salazar McCarthy. +1 Species whitelists tend to get more input than Head Whitelists though, I suggest advertising it in round some for feedback! Link to comment
Superiorform
First of all, the application. Your answers to the questions are exemplary, you seem to see unathi for everything they are, and you seem to want to play them for their rich culture and theme of carving a place out for themselves. As a player, you are amazing. I've played with Salazar (Mazkhannah here) and I have only praise to give. Your security is exemplary, and your RP is exemplary. The backstory is interesting, and you show us a very average unathi with what seems to be a very nuances and interesting personality and story. All my +1s, I can't wait to ligger witn you. Cirukcaller
Thank you for the support, really. You're making me feel ashamed in a way. I've also linked the app on the server a good four times, in four different rounds! I hope it yields results, I'd love some more input, always. Link to comment
TheSleepyCatmom
I like my experiences with his Captain, Jarod. Overall a good RPer, makes a lot of funny references that aren't too memey. The McCarthy is also a fun one, though not my cup of tea sometimes. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing them as a lizard. Nothing too wrong with that. +1 from me. Link to comment
Cirukcaller
Hey man, thanks a lot. You know, I have to admit that from Jarod to Salazar there's a big leap- Salazar's an easy-going, but just as easily abrasive character, whereas Jarod is a lot more open-minded, logical and acute to the things he says. Then again, one character is a part of ATLAS and the other one absolutely despises the entirety of the political party and all its segments. So you know, there's that. Link to comment
Jibreel
Had a good experience with him as Roger Armstrong last night. He and another guy press-ganged me into working for them against the station. The RP throughout was good, and I really appreciated him bringing me into the loop instead of easily taking me out of the round. I thought his antag method of causing trouble without powergaming was neat. Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello! You have solid feedback and I like your answers to the application questions. As well, your Unathi shows good traits and attributes. I appreciate having a hard working, earnest Ouerean Unathi on station. Just bear in mind he will be in his 20's due to the (relative) recent colonization of Ouerea. You did not mark his age, so I just wanted to make a pre-emptive retaliatory comment on it to make sure there wouldn't be any discrepancies later in records. Application accepted! Link to comment
