geeves
BYOND Key: geeves Character Names: Geoff Lufvio, Rovumbo, L.U.F.V Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt due to Dionaea. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I really think the change from playing one entity, to something that consists of (potentially) multiple entities would open the gates for an even more interesting roleplay experience. The Dionaea itself being very interesting to me, mechanically and lorewise. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As I mentioned earlier, the possibility for inner-conflict in the face of outer-conflict could make this species much more interesting to play. There could be situations that are dangerous for Humans, but trivial for the Dionaea, and vice-versa. Character Name: Last Hope of the Void Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Last Hope of the Void, his name originally being Restless in Growth, was spawned on a remote planet taken over entirely by Diona and various plantlife's overgrowth, he spent most of his time as part of the larger gestalt, absorbing info from the other nymphs and things that he could observe around the gestalt. This however was not enough, as he seeked to learn as much as he possibly could. Some years later, his lust for knowledge was finally satiated when a Skrell research vessel made contact with his gestalt, giving him an opening to be released from the gestalt with some accompanying nymphs and travel with the Skrell. At first the Skrell sought to research the new gestalt that he had formed, giving him Skrell blood samples and allowing them to observe their work, noticing that he's extremely quick at learning the new skills, some researchers remarked that he even wrote as if he's been writing since spawning. They gave the gestalt a few field tests, noting that he was exceptionally quick in absorbing and applying knowledge to jobs aboard the ship. He was finally given a position as an Engineering Aid aboard the ship, helping out the more veteran engineers. Some time after he was given his position, a micrometeorite tore through the life support systems. The room being completely depressurized, only he could go in and survive. Via instructions relayed through radio, Last Hope of the Void managed to repair the life support systems, earning his new name. He was taken to Tau Ceti shortly thereafter, the Skrell giving him high praise. He got into contact with Nanotrasen and was offered a job aboard the nearby station. Seeing it as another opportunity to learn, he gladly accepted it. What do you like about this character? His entire character being purely after knowledge, being willing to abandon his gestalt and go on an adventure to learn even more. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think I'm pretty alright, but I've much to learn from the other players on the server. A solid 7/10. Notes: I haven't written in ages, so I'm a little rusty. Grammar, spelling and general backstory suggestions welcome. I don't know if the knowledge thing could be seen as powergaming. If it does seem a little over the top, I can always adjust it a bit. Chada1
I was on Discord when Geeves' was writing this app, they respond incredibly well to feedback and criticism. I haven't seen their roleplay but I think just on virtue of that and the understanding of the Species shown in their app, they can handle a Dionaea whitelist well. +1. I especially like how the story feels like a short adventure. It shows their origin without putting too much detail into it, and leaves the character on a good note. Their questions all show a willingness to explore the more unique concepts of the Species, as well, which I love. Link to comment
BurgerBB
+1 Overall, everything is good. Story is a little too heroic for my tastes but shouldn't be an issue. Link to comment
