SeniorScore Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 (edited) Ckey/BYOND Username:SeniorScore Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter):Human Deputy Lore Dev Past Experiences/Knowledge:Mostly from my short time of picking through/editing the wiki, and working with Zundy on many human aspects on it. I also began working on a alternate universe for a home game, in the rather near future, but didn't continue work on it after the group fell apart, so I do have a little experience with working things of that nature I suppose. Examples of Past Work:what would've been part of the hook of said campaign Constant threats were thrown at Russia, from China, to try an discourage Russia from contesting this opportunity [becoming the UN's arm] for them. The people were fearful, not sure of how far this new government would actually go with their threats, and how that would affect them. in the year 2020, China got support from the UN to begin operating in problem spots, mostly in the Middle East, and Africa, and occasionally called on to help police areas surviving heavy terrorism problems, extending the Red Dragon's reach further and further. Then a threat to the Red Dragon's hold on power, came from it's very own lands. A man, claiming to be the rightful heir to the throne of the previously abolished throne of Emperor of China, the Blue Dragon roared against the Red Dragon. People, desperate for an alternative to what they assumed would eventually be their demise of themselves and their culture, they flocked to this new 'Emperor', hoping he would be the salvation of the Chinese People. The Red Dragon fumed, and bellowed displeasure, trying everything in it's power to spin lies on the Blue Dragon, attempting to pin crimes upon crimes to him, but no one believed the Red Dragon, it having a track record of lying to it's people, to manipulate them to it's own ends. Now angered, it simply began sliencing those who did not agree, and actually attacking the Blue Dragon. This seemed to only feed the flame of resistance growing in the Blue Dragon's heart, driving him forward, against the Red Dragon, the rural countryside fully supported him, while other's from huge sprawling cities rushed to try and escape the life of being held prisoner. Now the Blue and Red Dragon, locked claw in claw, twist and twirl, trying to get the upper hand, the stakes getting higher with every strike thrown. Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.):Discord(SeniorScore) Additional Comments: I am very interested in humanity, and approve of Zundy's direction with them, dusting off mere minor factions, and brushing them up, bringing them to relevance and interest to players. When I first started playing here, I hadn't heard much beyond Sol in terms of humanity, but still want to the lore, and asked questions with who I could, trying to figure out what I could about Mars, always wondering why there wasn't more. And now, here it is, a chance to help add to humanity, and bring both the wiki and lore a bit closer to each other, hopefully leading to it being a bit clearer for players who attempt to use it. AllyBearsley Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Senior is a pretty cool dude with a lot of good ideas and a generally good attitude. He was the first maintainer to start pointing out how a lot of lore pages were funky with a desire to fix them up. This inspired me to work more on getting the wiki team to work more with the lore team as well as get a lot of positive attention. He went over some of his ideas and little things he's done for background flavour within the Auroraverse. I think he'd be outstanding in helping work on human lore and give the galaxy that much more life!
tbear13 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 +1, I see him as perfect for the job. He already helps people on the lore channel and stuff.
Zundy Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I'll be preparing some questions for you shortly (I.E in around 9 hours) so watch this space.
Zundy Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Some questions, please answer them as best as you can: I'll be expecting regular weekly lore developments and weekly team meetings (likely voiced) via discord. Is this alright with you? Let's say on your first day on the job I give you free reign to alter any human or corporate lore as you see fit. What would you focus on, change and why? Let's say you there was an aspect of the lore which you really loved and Jackboot and I wished to remove it or alter it beyond a point that you would accept. After you give us your heartfelt plea we still proceed to remove or alter in a manner that appears unfair to you. How would you react to this and why? You're working on an aspect of lore development when you unknowingly overstep and alter another species lore. The species lore dev confronts you on discord and begins to aggressively reprimand you beyond your idea of fairness and respect (they're being far too aggressive). Unfortunately I'm not online to offer support, what do you do and why? I task you and another deputy with an area of lore development, during which you and the other deputy enter a heated debate. Your colleague decides to overrule you and in essence spark an edit war on the wiki and a minor flame war across public lore chat. Jackboot and I are unreachable for whatever reason. How do you deal with this and why? Whilst a deputy a player you quite like and consider a friend beings to PM you with ideas for lore changes, some of which appear to favour his characters and player friends. What do you do and why? A player begins to openly and aggressively mock a member of the lore team on public discord channels. They are not being constructive. What do you do and why?
SeniorScore Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 I'll be expecting regular weekly lore developments and weekly team meetings (likely voiced) via discord. Is this alright with you? Sure is. Let's say on your first day on the job I give you free reign to alter any human or corporate lore as you see fit. What would you focus on, change and why? Either some of the under-developed parts of Sol, or maybe something to not make the Frontier appear an empty wasteland. Let's say you there was an aspect of the lore which you really loved and Jackboot and I wished to remove it or alter it beyond a point that you would accept. After you give us your heartfelt plea we still proceed to remove or alter in a manner that appears unfair to you. How would you react to this and why? As much as it would probably pain me, I'd have to work beyond it, there's still so much that could be done for humanity in a positive way, trying to get hung over one aspect would probably do more harm than good. Tell them okay, revert/hold the change, inform you or Jackboot about it, wait for a call on it. Let their edits stand, come back later to them to try and discuss after not salting at each other for a few hours straight. Hopefully being able to reach a half decent conclusion. Whilst a deputy a player you quite like and consider a friend beings to PM you with ideas for lore changes, some of which appear to favour his characters and player friends. What do you do and why? Tell them directly that is a concern, and something that is being actively avoided, and maybe they should consider sending it to lore canonization apps instead, which response depending can probably gauge the intent of said changes. A player begins to openly and aggressively mock a member of the lore team on public discord channels. They are not being constructive. What do you do and why? It's easy to fly into insulting people, especially if it was something effecting a character or something of the like. Granted, venting can sometimes be needed, but public channels might not be the best place for that. Maybe DM asking them what exactly the problem is/was, see if there isn't an actual reason or not. If not and then they keep it up in a public channel, report them to the admins. I'm sorry if any answers don't seem long enough or I wasn't clear enough, please ask for clarification on anything if needed.
