MattAtlas
BYOND Key: MattAtlas Character Names: Lelyl Kerei'Velan, Erana'Weshi Xoqia, Araa Plenek, Kleno Dreshi-Qeblak are my most played. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: There are a few reasons why I want to play a Unathi character. The biggest reason is their lore - I like the lore as a whole. Their values, the code of honor, the clan system and even their religions are all very appealing to me. Aside from the lore, playing a Unathi character would be a very welcome change of pace from the characters I've been playing for the past 5 months or so. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There are quite a few differences, and most of them rely on interaction. Body language is of course different - for example, Unathi will thump their tail or chuff when irritated, they will expose their throat to individuals they trust a lot, or they will twine necks or tails as intimate gestures. Aside from that, there's the way that Unathi refer to eachother, mainly by their last name instead of their first name, unless the other individual is someone they're comfortable with them using their first name. There's also their code of honor that changes the way a Unathi would act in various ways - be it in combat, or normally. Character Name:Sazassh Karaehssi Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Sazassh Karaehssi was born to a rather small clan in 2420. The clan itself was not very wealthy and Sazassh was one of two children - the youngest - thus receiving what little education the clan could afford, in hopes of raising someone who would bring pride and wealth to their clan. Sazassh was also raised by his father with Sk'akh and warrior ideals since his early childhood. He views his father as an idol - a figure he could always look up to, and the one that raised him with the ideals that he still holds high to this day. Both him and his brother were raised with these ideals, both believing that their calling was to be warriors. They grew up together and shared many of their thoughts, and even sparred often, both also learning various strategies and tactics from their father. With Human contact came many questions to Sazassh. What was going to be of the Unathi traditions he was raised with? While he was satisfied that the Hegemony was looking to expand Moghes' wealth, there were many concerns rising about what the Izweski wanted to do with the wealth granted to them by the Humans and the Skrell. But, he was convinced that the Hegemony surely had it under control, and they would not let the knowledge ruin Moghes. Whatever thoughts he had were forgotten as the Contact War between the Izweski and the Coalition happened, and so the Izweski called for soldiers. Not yet ready to join the Izweski Military, Sazassh abstained from joining the military in the first year of the contact war. Instead, his brother found himself levied by the Clan lord to join the Military, and so he went, with a promise to come back to the Clan. Sazassh admired such courage and promised to join the Military as soon as he could, in hopes of fighting alongside his brother and securing a win for the Izweski. A year passed and Sazassh was now ready to join the Hegemony Military. He did so, and fought in the Contact War until the very end of it, after the nuclear exchange. His brother and father had both been killed as a result of the War, and such events had deep effects on Sazassh. He found himself struggling to go on - the very figure he held idol was now deceased. But he could not let the past affect him so much. The hellfire had by now devastated most of the planet, and Sazassh did not find much hope left for Moghes. The result of the Contact War was a planet broken beyond belief, a planet that had no hope anymore. The Izweski had wiped out the Coalition with their superior military, but at the cost of their planet being mostly turned into a wasteland. There was no other choice but to flee this broken wasteland of a planet. And so he did. In 2450, after the capture of Darakath, he was given the choice to begin a cadetship with Nanotrasen. He quickly realized that his talent as a warrior would go to waste had he not accepted the contract - and accepted Nanotrasen's offer. In 2460, he found himself working in the NSS Aurora as a Security Officer, hoping to forget the Contact War, and have a new beginning. What do you like about this character? I like his resolve. His pride, and the way the Contact War changed him. I like his warrior ideals, and how he holds the code of honor as one of his highest values. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say 8 or 8.5/10 by now, with the months I've been playing the game my roleplaying ability has considerably gone up. Notes: None to be said. Link to comment
Worthy
Local frog boi finally decides to apply for a lizard. 1/10. Jokes aside, I know all of your characters listed and I enjoy playing with every single one of them. You're a capable roleplayer that would undoubtedly be capable of accurately portraying an Unathi so I see no reason not to support this application. +1 from me. Link to comment
calion12
I know Matt’s characters rather well, they are all decent squiddies. I hope nobody minds but I’m just going to talk about Matt’s rp abilities rather than his character that he put forward for this app. OOCly he’s a decent guy too, unabraisive and generally easygoing and able to take a joke all of which I support when interacting via the internet. When I first got my skrell app I got to see just how deep Matt’s characters went. I remember a particular event involving walking dead OCs in which I was forced to commence radio silence in order to survive but in the process I had to ignore Matt’s pleas for me to respond and by the time I got back I saw his corpse pinned to a table. All in all that was a really heart-wrenching scene for me that Matt helped build even before his demise. while I would be sad to see his squids take a backseat, I am sure he could work wonders with lizards, definite +1 from me if you can’t tell already. AmoryBlaine
Continuously stellar RP partner. Their Skrell are some of my favourite characters on the station. I think they ought to be able to handle Unathi as well. +1 Link to comment
Munks
Araa Planek and Erana'Weshi Xoqia both stand out to me as some of the more reliably competent and well-roleplayed heads of staff I've had to interact with and I'd be very interested to see some more thoughtfully played Unathi running around, solid +1 Link to comment
