Genuine question. Have cars been naturally the same since the 21st century (relatively) or did they evolve into repulsor-lift vehicles sometime along the way? What's the standard for individual transport?

Ranges from blade runner like hover vehicles to futuristic mag rails and hyperloops to a horse and cart. A rugged Martian might drive a powerful fossil fuel powered vehicle where as a middle class biesel dweller might fly in a sleek hybrid spinner. As long as it's not ridiculous it's all good.
