BYOND Key:

Character Names: Bob Jones, Ben Smith, Carl Smith (B.O.B), Ralph Jones, Dave Smith

Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis (IPC)

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I love playing as a synthetic, as they are unique in the sense that they can change drastically based on the model they use or the module they select. IPCs are very interesting as a species since they are made up of multiple types of models, each with their own upside and downside which makes them better at some jobs and worse at others. In my time on this server I have played alot as a cyborg named "B.O.B" and it was enjoyable RPing as a cyborg that takes things literally and in the rare occasions I became a antag it was a blast. I want to play as a IPC due to how the multiple designs IPCs have allows me to play various roles in different ways. Synthetic characters always interest me, and I love playing as a robot and RPing as one. If I am allowed to play as a IPC, I will be able to play my favorite kind of species in various jobs I used to not be able to do as a cyborg.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

This species is different compared to a human due to the fact that the species has alot of variety due to the different models you can choose. IPCs also have to deal with synthetic bias that some characters have, and it provides excellent role-playing trying to overcome the prejudice. IPCs are unable to die from toxins and suffocation damage, and cannot feel pain. IPCs however are limited by needing to recharge from time to time and can die from over-heating, as they require a atmosphere to be able to cool. This makes IPCs also need a voidsuit in most cases, and they need a suit cooling unit as well to be able to go EVA. Overall, IPCs are different compared to humans by the fact that IPCs in many cases will think differently than humans, as they are programmed to have different priorities and goals.

Character Name: S.A.M (Synthetic Assisting Machine)

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals decided to make a IPC that was able to do what a normal roboticist can do, as many companies have avoided making IPCs that were programmed to do so. Utilizing the relatively untapped market of roboticist IPCs, the S.A.M unit was made. It was designed with their Zeng-Hu Mobility Frame in mind, and was programmed to be able to build and maintain synthetics and synthetic limbs. The model was given utilon values over doing it's job and helping it's patients calm and the units were soon produced. One of the S.A.M units were bought by NanoTrasen and was put to work on the NSS Canis Major with the primary task to help install and repair synthetic limbs for the many patients that arrived and to repair the other robots present. The IPC was shown to be relatively comforting and would try to keep people calm before and after the treatment. S.A.M was polite to his organic patients and co-workers, but was shown to be even more friendly to other robots present on station. S.A.M at his time as a roboticst saw many cases of his fellow synthetics and even itself as targets of synthetic hate, and the instances made S.A.M prefer synthetic company over organic company, as many organics would simply talk down to S.A.M and treat him as inferior. S.A.M was a excellent roboticist, and soon it was reassigned to the NSS Aurora as a fully fledged roboticist.

What do you like about this character?

It allows me to combine by joy of playing with synthetics with the fun job of roboticist, and it would be interesting playing as a synthetic roboticist.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say a 7/10, in times of things happening all at once I can forget elements of my character rp.

Notes: I really enjoy playing as a cyborg, and I love playing as a robot in games, this will allow me to play as a race that I love the concept of and I feel that I am able to roleplay as a IPC correctly.

I'm giving this a reluctant -1. OOCly you seem pretty cool, you've got that going for you. My interaction with BOB hasn't been very notable, he's not a great character, but he's decent. Most of the application is average, nothing out of the ordinary. The character and backstory is where the problem is in my opinion. There is *zero* conflict in his backstory, not a thing. I get that IPC backstories are hard to make, but he's gotta have more than "im a therapy brobot roboticist and now im on the aurora." See the problem in there? He just seems like a flat character overall, fix that and I'd probably give this a +1.

While I do wish the backstory were not so black and white, I will pass you this time, but with some questions. To what degree is S.A.M.'s dislike towards organics? How was it mistreated other than being talked rudely to? How exactly did it get reassigned to the Aurora, which is a completely different company's space station?

1. He will likely talk about his negative experiences and dislike towards organics to other synthetics, but he still likes organics to a degree, but would likely not talk with them when it does not relate to work.

2. Mostly just verbal abuse from the more synthetic hating of his patients and/or co-workers, but sometimes they would take his tools so he gets very protective of them.

3. What? NanoTrasen owns NSS Canis Major as well right?
