[Denied] Eve's IPC Whitelist Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key:AlFalah

Character Names: Evangeline Du Dancion, E.V.E

Species you are applying to play:Integrated Positronic Chasis

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs fit the futuristic theme of Aurora that I really enjoy, and their ability to rapidly learn, and their disability to fully understand human emotion and empathise make them a fun-to-play species in my opinion.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As synthetics, they’re ruled by their pre-programmed utilion values, which is to mimic a non-synthetic’s sense of ethics and morality. As different numbers can be assigned to different utilion values, they have the ability to see the greater good, just like humans, lest they are programmed to. However, unlike non-synthetics, their utilion numbers cannot be changed due to occasion.

Character Name: NT-R014198, Alice

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

In the year 2458, NanoTrasen experienced a noticeable decline in overall staff. Besides searching for additional employees, they also made the decision to emphasize the increased presence of synthetics in the workforce. However, not wanting to outsource more than they already do to Hephaestus who generally holds such a monopoly on the creation of synthetic frames, NanoTrasen began producing their own synthetics for use in the workplace.

Thus started the development of an AI, in NanoTrasen’s relatively new Department of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence; since to them, an AI they’ve made would be much more efficient and trustworthy, as it’d be programmed with only NanoTrasen’s best interests held in mind. After the development had finished in the year of 2559, the department decided that it would be for the best that the personality was kept within a positronic brain, and was subjected to interaction with organics to best suit it for localized work.

After a short amount of testing, intelligence NT-R014198 was confirmed to be fit for duty aboard NSS Aurora, bearing its own strengths and weaknesses. It could process and use data at a rapid pace, even by synthetic standards, allowing it to operate faster. The only flaw it had was its passive personality, where it’d usually prefer attending its own business, but it would accurately respond to verbal inputs, and answer them accordingly.

Acquiring a Baseline frame from Hephaetus Industries for a moderate price, the positronic brain was placed inside, given the ‘nickname’ of Alice by the small team which developed it, for it to appear more approachable, and for ease of operations, to be shipped to NSS Aurora as a Scientist, mainly to attend RnD.

What do you like about this character? Not completely understanding the concept of human emotion, it is rather entertaining to RP some level of miscommunication, as well as a synthetic’s struggles to scientifically learn the process of thought, to be able to understand them better.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10

Notes: I appreciate any and all feedback!

While you get the IPCs ability to learn rapidly, you haven't displayed your understanding of the second part of an IPCs learning; the limited capacity. This lends to IPCs being very specialised, even before specialised frames are taken into account. What role has Alice specialised towards?

I decided to depend her almost entirely on Science, without the capabilities of fighting, medical or engineering. Her main focus will be RnD and Telescience, maybe Toxins or even try being an RD if I feel confident enough that she'd have an RP reason to over-arch.

+1 for the app in my opinion

I think eve would be able to play an IPC as an IPC should.. relatively emotionless, analytical, and specialized.

A lot of other IPC whitelistees out there play IPCs like a metallic human, this could be a proper example for others to follow.

Eve never ceases to amaze me. His 7/10 roleplay rating is a blatant lie. I'd give him a solid 10, because every single interaction I've had with him IC had me grinning like a child in a candy store. Despite his amazingly crazy conduct OOC and in Discord, he does a complete 180 IC and plays out his character with his own touch of flair.

I have no clue about IPC lore, so I won't make a comment about that, but I would like to add that I've had many interactions with his Station-bound E.V.E and it's been pleasant every single time. He knows how to roleplay a synthetic being well and I'm damn sure he'll do it with an IPC aswell.

Huge +1 from me, and thanks for teaching me engineering, nerd.

+1 from me.

Eve seems perfectly fit to play an IPC character. Application looks solid and I think they could really excel as a IPC. Both IC and OOC I've been in contact with Eve. In character I've interacted with them via my medical character Sophie Dre whilst they were playing the synth EVE. As EVE they're perfectly capable of playing a synth and it's led to many fun encounters. I think playing an IPC is a perfect fit because of this.

Eve RPs well and the backstory is solid, no room for snowflake or inconsistency, I like how they focus on how an IPC is stuck to its utiliton values and general inability to process human emotion.

I've had good interactions with them as station synthetics and PAIs.

I will tell you, Eve, that I have not witnessed particularly good roleplay from you the handful of times I've observed or been around you (and that's in a small time period, not spread out). I am not in the business of embarrassing people in front of everyone, so I won't go on about any particular instances openly. I will, however, allude to a time I witnessed you completely drop character and fail to appropriately maintain a roleplay environment for others around you. I have also observed questionable behavior while you were playing as a synthetic. For these reasons, I currently do not trust you to possess an IPC whitelist and uphold the standards I expect of the IPC player base. I am willing to be convinced otherwise, but this will require effort on your part. I encourage you to apply again after you think you've put up this effort, but until then, your application is denied.
