ben10083 Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 The Clerical Module needs some love, so I am going to do it one step at a time no homo Problem Name a chef/hydroponicist/bartender/barista/cleric/etc. that uses paperwork. Go on, I will wait. Unless it is for something like a menu, a service department crew member usually never touches paperwork. This leads to the problem, Why is the clerical module only equiped with a service radio channel?! Solution Simple, remove it's service channel and give it command channel Pros Much more useful -command actually does paperwork Enjoyable - helping command with their paperwork would be enjoyable for people who enjoy doing paperwork in ss13 like me antag opportunities - a emagged clerical module now has the use of also being a "spy" against what command is planning. Cons "Command should not be touched by filthy synthetic scum!" - AI can already listen on channel, and any robot can simply listen in and talk via intercom. They will just annoy command with stupid requests!" - See above Conclusion Overall, this change would help increase the pick rate of clerical module, and will give it more use than as a robot in a department channel that doesn't need it.
Arrow768 Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 I am not a huge fan of it since it would add a bridge assistant role via the backdoor. In case command wants to have a bridge-assistant borg with access to command coms, that can already be done icly by just installing a radio key in that borg.
ben10083 Posted April 20, 2018 Author Posted April 20, 2018 Arrow768 I see your concerns, but where can they even get a command radio key without removing one from a head of staff radio headset?
Azande Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 The command channel is for strategic planning of station operations. Cyborgs can communicate with command through the AI, who is their 'head of synths' . I do not want to share my command channel with a slave toaster that's useless to me anyways.
Korinra Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Going to have to agree with Azande on this. There's no real reason for it to be defaulted on a bot unless a staff head decides they specifically want it modified for some specific round-related reason.

Yes, you need to remove them from a command headset, but all the heads of staff have a spare headset in their locker An alternative would be to make them shipable via cargo.
