I will vouch for Jorven saying that we are indeed ingrained in the military to fight, not flight, as hard as possible. We are forced into every fiber of our being to protect ourselves or others at all costs. But I mean, the meme that every body on the station is a harden grisly War Veteran from space military is tiring and the server as a whole are trying to move away from that direction. They are enforcing this realistic Roleplay policy to make it where not every person on the station has a military background like its been in the past. Its quite literally an out of control meme and they got to step in and try to purge it as hard as they can. I've seen alot of IC records, and its cringe. Most of Engineering has the "Ex-Military of XX years with medals and accommodations" In their records. While that can be realistic, because I know I went into the service to become an Engineer IRL, its just out of control and annoying. Players use this IC background to be able to validate antags or go ham bone on people with combat. Also, attacking with a Welder torch is a realistically viable option, just cause ingame it does shit damage doesn't mean squat. If I pulled out a welders torch IRL and hit someone with it, it would fucking hurt. But the reasoning behind hitting someone with it, well, Iunno about that shit. That doesn't sound like the person is sound of mind.

This is a fuxking brilliant idea. Do it. Do it hard.

[Denied] Ban Appeal, Science job ban
Taintedglory replied to Absynth's topic in Unban Requests Archive
I have much to agree with this ban, but I'll keep it concise because I dont do paragraphs well. I'll also be honest upfront to clear up anyone thinking I am Biased, because I am. I don't like you nor do I like any of your characters. I have actively made several complaints about you in Ahelps and on Discord. Ein is a Memetastic Vaurca. Wearing a weird Wig and doing things that I honestly think a Vaurca BA Warrior would never do, including working in Science making bombs. The RP from this Vaurca makes me just treat it like a Child at best, and ignore it at worst. Absynth in general makes some of the worst decisions in Science, including all the complaints I made against them in their Whitelist Head of Staff app. Examples are: Growing plants wildly throughout the station, Making gear in Research and playing with it without remorse or reason, blatantly ignoring orders from Heads of Staff and arguing with decisions heads have made to stop their characters from "Playing around" In general, I think the Job ban is light of a punishment done to them. Its the Lightest I would ever do to someone who has caused this much OOC annoyance in the community with their IC actions. -
[Expired] Unban request - Server Ban
Taintedglory replied to Absynth's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Im assuming Ein is a BA vaurca? As in the Combat minded and Combat focused Vaurca? Mentally speaking I dont even see how Ein works in Science. I mean, to be honest then it doesn't make any sense what so ever that Ein is even doing Phoron research, nor does it make any sense that Ein would literally risk dying and waste its Augments and training for a Human station under attack by Human problems. I honestly think that with your behavior as Ein and other characters of yours this Job ban was justified. You never seem to respect the other players or the station in general with your science exploits, and this one is a major example of this. -
[Inactive]Staff Complaint: CakeisOssim
Taintedglory replied to Nanako's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I'm just going to say that there is a reason the ai has a power source connected to it and moving it away from that power source into an unpowered spot is dumb and the ai nor it's body's should want to do that. I think an issue like that would constitute as allowing powergaming/metagaming behavior -
[INACTIVE]Complaint on Nia Synder (Abendorth)
Taintedglory replied to sonicgotnuked's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I already posted that I didn't encourage Nia valid hunting before Hanira slits throat or after Haniras confirmed being alive. At first, my orders were to hunt you down once Hanira had her throat slit. But once Hanira was confirmed alive, I switched back to Detain. I did actually have them try to hunt you down but I didn't encourage any shittier RP from the hunt. ALso after you deadman switched I tried to get you in an MMI so you would still be in the round. -
I will confirm that there were two dying people on the Bridge at this time and Manfred was doing everything he could to get these dying people off the bridge, and once they were confirmed off I lost sight of him and what he was doing. Im going to assume he would do what I would do, and instead of taking precious time away from the lives of the two people dying on the bridge, he decided to put his own life first to save them. Fortunately for those people and unfortunately for him, his sacrifice was in vein because I accidentally showed up and saved the two dying people before he fully cycled in

[INACTIVE]Complaint on Nia Synder (Abendorth)
Taintedglory replied to sonicgotnuked's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I ordered them to take the Ninja to get the suit cut off after it escaped. At first, I was fine with it going around the station doing its Antag stuff, until it started teleporting around to elude Security. I never want to purposely remove anyone, including antags from the round. Just moments after the time Raymond, Me, The IAA, and the CE were holding a meeting to discuss what do fully do with the intruder, The intruder apparently cut Haniras throat and went hostile. Once Hanira was confirmed not dead, I went back to detainment over killing, with a strong emphasis on removing the suit. As for murdering it. Yes, Sam doesn't hide behind special words or coy sentences. If someone comes onboard the station and does bad things to our station, our crew, or our money, we have full rights to murder them if detainment fails, yes? Sam doesn't try to cloak the words. He was being direct and to the point about what will happen if the Ninja did things such as slitting the HoPs throat, as it did. I gave not a single order to Nia. Raymond was trying to control his team and wasn't getting and response from a portion of them, and was getting alot of backtalk from them. So alot of them were acting on their own actions. -
The only difference I can think of between PF and 5th Edition spells is pathfinder has like, 3000 spells compared to 5ths like 500. Not saying it has more variety , it just covers more redundancy
-
Both 5th and PF has good spells. D&D spell lists are always good and barely change through editions

Buckle your pants a bit because I am home and on my computer, so this is going to be a TLDR moment as I break down some stuff here. 2nd Edition is great, but people have a hard time understanding its rules. The classes and races are fairly streamlined, and things are decently simple after you wrap your heads around its Old timey thinking. Its not something I will recommend except for advance players or Nostalgia. 3.5/Pathfinder is the most common and well known editions. Pathfinder being the better choice as its 3.5 with updated rules and all of its information is open source by law. (( http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ )) Now, While I love this system, and its complex nature, it has a major folly. Its Complex. You can make a deep and very customized character down to the T, but that also means for newer players or casual players that they will be really confused almost all the time. More often than not games ran with Pathfinder will be bogged down with "How do I do this again?" or "Let me check the rules on my skill/spell/feat/etc" Because frankly, your character sheets in this system can have a billion different things on them with a hundred different rules governing those things. Granted, this is my go to System and me and my friends play this all the time, infact I got an IRL campaign going that has been going for 6 years in 3.5. Me and another DM switch DMing every few sessions so we can both enjoy being a player. But the thing is people who play this tend to have the rules fairly memorized to enjoy it. I mean, hell this is the system where my favorite character I made of all time came from, and I could never match him in another edition by his sheer amount of in depth customization I did with him. 4th Edition is a lot of peoples least favorite, and as someone who grew up on 2nd edition, and played 3.5 Ritualistically I was very leery about it too. But honestly, people don't give the game credit for what it does good, as it does a lot of things good, and I really mean a lot. I always try to get first time DnD players to play either 3.5/Pathfinder, but first time Gamers in general to play 4th edition. It plays exactly like a board game, it explains all the rules for everything your character can possibly do on your own character sheet. There is no hidden mechanics or hard to find mechanics. Its all there, in the open, and easily digestable. Encounters move swiftly, and can honestly be a lot of fun. But I know what its biggest folly is, and what people miss the point of when playing it. Its because most people who play it don't spend a session talking together about character creation. Its a game where its all about Teamwork and team cooperation. Literally half the classes don't do much damage in combat, and instead focus on helping other classes do the damage. It clearly defines the classes into four types, Striker, Defender, Controller, Leader. The players have to work together to make their party a decent make up of these 4 classes in order to successfully do anything in the game. A striker is nothing without his defender, a Defender is nothing without his Leader, and the entire party needs the controllers to either buff them or debuff the enemies in some way or another. Alot of times people complain, and then when I see their party makeup its like all Strikers or all Defenders or something. This game has its merits, and it has alot of them. Its real easy to play. So easy infact that you literally dont need the rule books once you put your character to paper, as your character sheet will explain every rule for everything you do. 5th edition I hear alot of good things about, but I havn't put forth the time to learn it or play it. I hear it has simplified the rules of 3.5, almost making it 4th edition without making it a Board Game.

Okay so what do you mean by dnd? Are you using it as a term or a system? Dnd is a game system, dungeons and dragons. If you're looking to just to on roll20 with loose rules I can give you generic games like gurps or traveler. As far as dnd I'm a nearly 25 year vet of the games and I can teach you every edition up to 4th. I know fuck all about 5th. 4th is the easiest, but less customization. It's bonus is I got a nifty tool I can share that builds your character for you and let's you see all the items in the game and makes a character sheet for you. It's literally the easiest to play and people can learn it as fast as they learn a board game. 3.5 and pathfinder are the hardest but have some in-depth customization options for characters. It takes people several days to learn all the mechanics. 2nd edition is a classic and a real joy to play buts severely outdated
-
I'm mean, you gotta give a little more info. What edition? 2nd? 3.5? 4? 5? PF? What days work for you? What kind of game? How often you want to do this?
