  1. Hey @Neinbox, I switched up the roster of characters I had listed. It didn't really make sense to have my old, mostly outdated, characters up there and I'm not sure why I didn't really realize that until just now.
  2. Oh this is sick. I don't play EMT but that is one snazzy design, especially compared to the default. Nice job!
  3. Sure! I went ahead and edited the original post. I was actually also figuring out where they would fit into in the future, and I was either considering medical or (surprise, surprise) botany - definitely trying to cater to their nurturing aspect. I also forgot to tag you, @Neinbox, sorry!
  4. BYOND Key: GlasgowSmiling Character Names: Leif Bilrost, Ka'Akaix'Viz C'thur, Nugyen Thanh, Fatima Hassan Species you are applying to play: Diona What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Exempt. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I’ve got a soft spot for plant-people, truth be told. I don’t see very many of these dudes walking about and I’d love to fill in that gap! I’ve got experience playing ‘unique’ personality types and I feel that that’s what’s needed for a Dionae. Their lore is also fascinating and their close ties to the Skrell offer fun and interesting roleplay opportunities. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The dionaea are gestalt-conscious creatures, with the exception being their most base form (the Diona nymph). When considering what one would do, it’s more akin to figuring out what all would do. One has to keep in mind that their thought processes are essentially a democratic discussion held at an incredibly fast pace (but still long enough to delay response, hence their ‘slow’-seeming nature). What’s also so unique about this race is that they are capable of surviving in just about any environment provided that they have access to, at the most basic level, radiation in some form or another. On top of their abundance of means for survival, they also show a remarkable capability for intelligence - even a single nymph is capable of the complex task of speech, or at the very least understanding it. Furthering the topic of language, Dionaea are capable of learning languages merely by ingesting the genetic material of a species; a feat no other known species in the Orion Spur are capable of doing. Their sheer capability of language-acquisition can be considered paramount to successful diplomacy and could be considered a large part in their success as a sapient species. From my understanding, however, in order to maintain some degree of fairness in regards to in-game mechanics, player Diona past the stage of nymph do not have access to this ability. While lore-wise they may also obtain vague memories or details about a person from sampling DNA, these are more akin to inane facts like a person's favorite food or musical artist. Character Name: Connie (nickname), Consonance of Children (ID name) Please provide a short backstory for this character Consonance of Children is a station-grown Dionae cyclops that was formed over time as their various caretakers cultivated more Nymphs. They remain aboard the station by choice, as they see the constant crew-changes as a never ending source of experience and companionship. In order to remain helpful, they have taken up work as a cargo technician - also seeing this as one of the better ways to maintain contact with everyone on the ship. After all, everyone needs something and the cargo bay is the place to get it. Connie’s name is the result of their individual Nymphs having been treated much like children by the various gardeners and hydroponicists that have inhabited the station. While each held a unique name relating to whatever they had fixated upon after ‘birth’, their combined name was decided upon because of their shared history in relation to the station. This has resulted in a Gestalt that holds an immense love and respect for the station as well as all of its inhabitants, whether they are personally acquainted or not. What do you like about this character? This is a character that holds a deeply personal connection to the Aurora, beyond it just being a place of work. To Connie, the Aurora is their home and the people working inside are their family. Although they may not have a very important job when compared to a doctor or a scientist, to them it’s the best thing they could ever wish for - they remain ever useful. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8/10 - I would say I’ve improved a lot in the years while silently skulking about in the station. I always try to prioritize roleplay over mechanics, which is why I tend to avoid roles like the doctor or engineering, even though I do love atmos. Notes: Hopefully the “station-bred” thing is okay! I was on the wires about it for a while, so if I need to change it that’s totally fine. Also, if I need to flesh out the background more let me know! EDIT - 7.9.19 - I’ve expanded upon their unique characteristics as was requested, but I am on mobile so it probably looks like a larger amount of text than it really is on my end. Hope this helps showcase my understanding of the species! (I also corrected a lingering typo in regards to Connie’s name, shh)

    [RACE] Peleng

As someone who has like to think they've played the vaurcae fairly extensively and have enjoyed them (like, seriously. Legit my favorite race since the Kocasslani.), I will say: I would pick Peleng over Vaurcae any day of the week. This is fantastic and exactly why I chose to play Vaurcae in the first place: the push away from 'humanity'. This goes even farther and I love it. It doesn't mean much since I'm a fairly low-key player, but regardless this gets my seal of approval.
  6. BYOND Key: GlasgowSmiling Character Names: Cygnus Tomalescue, Marquis Spritz, Mirakini Fredrifili Species you are applying to play: The Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Brown Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I’ve always had a love for anything insectile, especially when they’re of the social sort. I very much want to try to play as a Drone as I don’t believe we have anything quite as unique. Intelligent yes not self-aware, merely there to do its job and be done - there’s nothing like willing inedntured servitude. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, as a whole the species has quite a few options when it comes to what you want to play. Whether you want to be a bound Worker or an unbound Warrior or the variations between, you’ve got it all right here. There are many variations to how one might speak Common as a Vaurca, which gives both a unique difficulty and an interesting patternization. Character Name: Ka’Viax’Vith K’lax Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Ka’Viax’Vith K’lax is a Bound worker from the K’lax hive, sent as a furtherment of good relations with Nanotrasen to work upon their various stations and installations. They’ve been transferred between various places, always working in the darker parts to fix pipes and re-attaching any torn wiring. When required they are put to use in Atmospherics, much for the same reason - like most other Bound, they have no capability of working anyplace else. While treated as most Bound are, and unable to do much better than any other Bound, they are often commented as being a ‘competent worker’ by those humans that may not precisely understand what being Bound means for the individual. What do you like about this character?: I personally like that they are the ‘ultimate worker’ - wanting for nothing but to do what they were meant to. I feel they’ll also be fairly easy to play and I look forward to any ‘abuse’ that might be thrown my way. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 5/10 - I’ve been doing this for a while, but I know there are people that might be able to do it better. I used to rate myself higher but I’ve come to realized I was a fool. Notes: I’m really excited for this race and I sincerely hope they don’t go the way of the Kocasslani. I don’t know what I’ll do if I lose another race. 3 P.s. I know it said that Bound are meant for Civilian jobs, I had just read on the wiki that (theoretically) a Bound could be a fully-functioning Engineer, which is why I assumed atmospherics would be fine. If anyone would like me to change that, please let me know. Atmos isnt a make-it-or-break it.
  7. Sitting in a utilitarian room with steel walls is a medium-framed Kocasslani in light, billowy trousers and a black tanktop. He's sitting with his legs crossed on a floor pillow, a laptop in front of him - although the camera appears to be on the wall in front. Mirakini Fedrifili blinks some as the camera first turns on, as if surprised that it is even working. Per his usual fashion, he waves and the AskMe video feed truly begins. "Hi, a friend of mine on a previous shift told me about this thing." he types out onto his laptop, which brings letters up onto the screen. "I'm here to answer questions I guess - go for it." the words continue. In the background - on a steel table that appears part of the wall - are a series of close-combat weaponry, ranging from the old to the more recent. There's only one gun and it appears to have been taken apart to be cleaned.
