[DENIED]Sec-ban appeal. Roderick Grey.
Roderick Grey replied to Roderick Grey's topic in Unban Requests Archive
I haven't been tempbanned either... I'm still not really sure about the text bubble, I don't recall seeing it at the time, whether or not that was the case is really semantics, the captain wanted you apprehended, the lights were off, I took a chance, turned out you had lethals so that is my bad. I'm not accusing you of violating roleplay, I'm simply explaining why it turned into a wordless chase, I had opened the text chat and was trying to figure out how to word the situation on sec comms so I wouldn't attract other rev officers when you rushed passed me, so I pulled out my baton pursued and pressed enter to get rid of the chat box which is clumsy/bad RP, I'll pay that bill, but I didn't want you to escape with the captain who's side I had joined and been specifically requested to protect. I'm aware of SOP, when a known mutineer is running off with the captain they kidnapped my first job as an officer is to secure them if possible, and thinking back on it I really should've just thrown a flashbang and been done instead I chased you as I was still unsure what your intentions were, I'm not sure anyone but you knew them either. That's my bad then, I assumed they were with you. Looks like your plan didn't work out, you went right past past me, probably should've adapted your plans a little instead of just running. You could've as well, our entire interaction was "A" mid-chase and "Stop" before the lights went out. Not sure why you're putting all the blame on someone you clearly find so beneath your little RP pedestal. I'm really not sure where you've even dredged up this opinion of me as I've barely played with you, though the rounds we've shared you've hardly displayed yourself as a master of creativity and artistic nuance as sec or an antag. There's a lot of sec players I like to talk to and touch base with about ingame events as believe it or not I am eager to improve my sec play you're always welcome to actually offer advice instead of making digs to feed your pedantry. A big problem I have with this server, sometimes the SS13 community as a whole is it's preference to punish and ostracize instead of working and developing their own community's player-base, I think your attitude is a strong representation of this; I went to the sec panel and it seems like you and others genuinely want Sec and it's players to improve, you should try working with them more instead of labeling them as shitcurity and kicking them to the curb. -
[DENIED]Sec-ban appeal. Roderick Grey.
Roderick Grey replied to Roderick Grey's topic in Unban Requests Archive
I... um? Alright... You pulled out an MK58 at the bridge with the A.I turning the lights off moments later and I had no way to discern if it was loaded with lethals or not, if it was a blatantly lethal weapon I would've reacted differently lights or no. I had the intent to wordlessly stun baton you because you wordlessly ran past me with a captain in cuffs towards the bridge. (unarmed) if you wanted to establish a hostage situation you shouldn't of run straight past me, you should've stopped when you saw me and established that you were infact armed with lethals, and it was a hostage situation, you had two other revs there that could've protected you, instead you sped past everyone. The A.I turned the lights off, I had no way of seeing you typing, but you're conveniently leaving that out to push your own narrative. I've never appealed a sec ban before so you might have me confused with another player; maybe all this snarky aggression and petulant sarcasm should've been directed at someone else, I'm not sure. However, if you do want to direct your penchant for character assassination towards me, I'd rather you at-least seem accurate. -
BYOND Key: Roderick Grey Total Ban Length: Perm Banning staff member's Key: Severis Reason of Ban: I can't find the exact wording so I'm hoping someone else can provide it, it was mainly a criticism of my sec play and was sparked by Severis thinking I rambo'd a hostage situation. Reason for Appeal: The Sec officer and the cuffed captain, walked passed me in the hallway unarmed, while on their way to the bridge, I was literally one tile behind the captain while in pursuit I followed them into the bridge with my baton out when they pulled an MK58 out, typically loaded with rubber ammo when this exchange occurred: http://i.imgur.com/yFL8m0L.png To clarify almost the second the officer pulled the gun the A.I killed the lights, while they fumbled with their PDA I moved three tiles in the darkness, they turned on their PDA light, saw how close I was and started shooting the captain so I batoned them. Severis pm'd me and informed me I had rushed a standoff, which I really don't think represents the clumsy scenario this really was, neither I nor the captain were aware the officer had lethals, as they were using an MK58 the captain/"hostage" ordered me to stop them as it wasn't clear who they actually intended to use the gun on, the A.I killed the lights and I went for them. If the officer wanted it to be a hostage situation it should've been established a lot earlier, ideally before they walked past me in the hallway with the captain in cuffs.

A.I players like to complain that they're too easily subverted, I think it's a good thing. They can negatively impact both Antags and Crew round-play to such an extent that they're usually high all all antag's lists of things that need to be dealt with for them to have an impactful round. The harder you make A.I's to subvert to more likely antags and crew will simply resort to killing it, which is currently almost 50/50 in difficulty when compared to subversion. If you make it so you have to be in the upload surrounded by turrets to subvert, or you make it so you have to break into the captain's office before you can subvert then subversion stops becoming viable. You take away remote subversion players that don't want to have to break into the upload will simply look for ways to kill the A.I remotely instead, an emitter is a good example. If you have to break into the bridge and the captain's office to get a password and THEN be able to subvert why not just drop and EMP in the office while you're there? If you raise the bar for subversion you're going to see a lot more dead A.I especially when all methods suggested involve you also being in a position to kill the A.I before subversion even becomes an option.

It's really not a made up rule, you're just blatantly breaking character.

I had made plenty of announcements using the captain's I.D declaring the station under occupation and management by an entity other than nanotransen and I also specifically made the announcement that the shuttle was banned before blocking it with the cargo tug and escorting the one person off who denied the announcement, Tricking's character. There was DEFINITELY prior roleplay before I had them cuffed and escorted off the shuttle not allowing crew to return to the odin was a rational and ic-consistent choice. If the issue is that I didn't ahelp in a grey area that is fine, although that was literally never brought up by tricking, at any point in looc or ahelps. From my perspective it was simply him being salty about me playing an antag that was abusive to the crew, and I feel like the warning's wording and his own posts here reflect his bias: If the warning is there to serve as a reminder to ahelp for grey areas that's fine, at the moment it pretty much only says : "I didn't have fun when you were an antag, please don't RP as meanies" and I feel like any moderator reading that warning out of context would think the same. If the warning is to remain that's fine, but I want the warning reworded to actually show a proper justification/clarification added , which tricking didn't provide. -

Wizards do need more variety other than murder and bone, having more options should encourage that. -

I feel like this is just me trying to push the same issue over and over again. You used your moderator privileges to make a call on a grey area antag action you were the direct and sole victim of. You had a mod there you should've differed to but you're claiming that he was "just as involved as you were" and that's just blatantly false; he was a thrall, an accomplice, he wasn't even the one to escort you off the shuttle, Kasia was. You can't whine and argue with me in looc, then 20 seconds later take it to ahelps and act like you're totally unbiased. It was a grey area, and you took it upon yourself to tip the scales, the fact you didn't defer to catnip and rushed to deal with it yourself is evidence that your judgement of the situation was poor/clouded. If you don't like the particular way I antag that's tough. If you actually want to be helpful and give me advice on how to be a better antag you're welcome to give me feedback via discord as a fellow player. -

There is literally no way for you to prove that, if you wanted to be unbiased you let catnip handle it. No, it's just speculation. Don't speak for other mods on decisions you made alone, if you want their vouch ask them to post. No, I don't think it is. You didn't like how I was antagging, you complained about it in looc when I did something to you ic that you disliked and then instead of leaving it to the more neutral moderator you dealt with it yourself. I did something ic that really wasn't breaking the rules (grey area) and you used your moderator powers to get even. You want me to treat you like you made an unbiased decision but you didn't, you were directly involved, expressed your frustration in looc and then dealt with it personally in ahelp instead of conferring with catnip and letting him handle it. -

No, first you started complaining saying "this is lame" while being removed from the shuttle in looc, then you started accusing me of breaking the rules, so yeah, I got defensive, I then told you to ahelp if you had an issue, instead you bwoinked me. You don't know that, neither of us do, either way you shouldn't of tried to deal with it as the victim when you had another mod present. -

A vampire doesn't start with armory access and thralls, the crew had ample time to work against me if they so chose, they didn't. We had a fairly passive crew which was frustrating for both of us, I continued to escalate the threat in order to goad the crew out of their departments. I also strictly controlled what the thralls took out of the armory, and personally carried next to nothing from the armory. I'm not attacking you, I just think that your bias is showing. the whole warning is shaky and was poorly justified. I feel the only thing tipping the balance is the fact it directly, almost exclusively affected you. He was involved on the offending party, a bwoink coming from him would've been more neutral than coming from the direct victim. You even complained about it in looc before taking it to ahelps. -

Everyone got beatings, everyone. I killed Nanako (the only other sec in the department), who shot at me while I had an MD hostage, I then left their body with the MD to be cloned. I had taken over the station, icly it was mine and so was the crew. A tyrant vampire suddenly letting everyone hop on a shuttle to go swap stories on the odin would've been destroying RP, I was an antag that the crew needed to work together to overthrow, they didn't so there were ic consequences. If you didn't like not being able to board the shuttle you should've done something about it ic instead of using your mod privileges to vent your frustration. I spoke to SirCatnip about this as well. If you felt so certain you probably should've let him handle talking with me as you were directly involved. You were literally the only person escorted off the shuttle. I talked to Catnip about whether or not I should contest this and he said he was neutral on the matter, but if I ahelped beforehand he would've approved it hands down. this pretty much sums up my opinion of this warning. -
BYOND Key: Roderick Grey Staff BYOND Key: TrickingTrapster Game ID: bAvOUf Reason for complaint: Not really sure why it deserved a warning, seemed more like an opinionated "I don't like your particular way of antagging" than any actual violation of the rules, we discussed it, he pulled rank telling me it's not my call either way so I figured I'd bring the discussion here: Evidence/logs/etc: (excuse the terrible typing) Additional remarks: just seems like it was rather biased warning seeing as the only person that even tried to get on the shuttle was Tricking's character; he had another mod that could've handled this issue but he chose to deal with it himself. I look forward to seeing the warning better justified here.

I love this idea the only problem I'd have is with the rolling of the R's. I'm not really sure if that would be a cultural feature or a biological one, if it's the latter because you no longer have the mouth of a Tajara it would be pretty strange for you to start rolling your r's. I understand that you USED to, as you used to be a Tajara and you want to convey that as a nuance through speech but I'm not sure how realistic that would be.

Maybe not as official procedure, but useful for that rare Rev shift where one gender suddenly gets its pay halved Why would you want to subvert the conflict antag rounds are supposed to create?

I don't really understand why our medical bay should be doing free sex changes on a research station... Could be interesting as a traitor option, but not really.

No, this is a complaint from brayce about how he didn't like players ignoring incompetent and bias heads, which you were one of. Just because your name isn't in the title doesn't mean you're not under scrutiny, if you feel differently I don't mind making another thread for people to discuss their grievances about you. -

Maybe if you read my messages and DatBerry's image instead of skimming. You'll probably know. The answer is in there. The A.I told you I was repeatedly beating a prisoner on the floor? Yeah, that never happened, and telling mods that it DID happen is in pretty poor form; you heard it happened, that's it. Real shame you never bothered to gather both sides. I've spoken to prillup, the vamp, about this as none of you bothered to contact the actual victim, they should be telling their side shortly. -
