[Accepted] DeadLantern's Vaurca Application
JamOfBoy replied to DeadLantern's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Perhaps choosing a Bound to be your application character was a poor choice, as there isn't much to tell us what you do and don't know from this character's backstory. In honesty, it looks to me like you've tried to dodge the two paragraph rule by using this unique style. Not all backstories have to be fancy, you know? I feel as though you could do a lot better by making an Unbound, as they're more directly integrated within the vaurca lore, and it'd allow a much richer backstory to a much more complex character. Unbounds are more like people; they can and more than likely do have passions for certain things, which can be incredibly specific or general. My longest running vaurca character, Mezi, is obsessed with pipes. How weird, right? I integrated this with the lore, tying them to Ta'Akaix'Xakt'yagz'isk Zo'ra's brood, whose VR is engineering and physics focused, where Unbound design technologies, buildings and mechanical systems. Please don't get the wrong idea - you have potential, and turning away potential vaurca players is the last thing I'd want, but there is so much more you could do with this. I don't think I've really seen or at least interacted with any of your characters, so I can't judge that, unfortunately. I'll refrain from saying anything more, but if you have any questions, retorts or concerns, don't be shy of sending me a message through discord(@jamofboy) or the forums. Simply put, show me more, and I'll +1 this, but for now, I'm holding off. -
Yes please. Heist often involves less murder, too.

+1. You said it yourself that people powergame this sort of stuff. Heck, I once did it after I fell on the asteroid to stop my bleeding. While in space. And I was fine. If not for space-related suits and all their space-related accessories, definitely for armour vests - although, an alternative (and slightly less effective) solution to this would be to make armour vests too big for storage, to stop people pulling them out of nowhere.

BYOND Key: Jamchop23334 Character Names: Eosisei Guwan, Lark, Meris, Ka'Akaix'Mezi Zo'ra, Aszi Guwan, Eyes That Gaze Species you are applying to play: Tajara, Zhan-Khazan. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Blue-gray. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Truthfully, I want to play Tajara just to understand them more. If that sounds selfish, I guess it is. I personally can't fully understand a race before I play them. It helps to be thrown into the deep end and immerse yourself in a character - how would they react, considering X and Y? If I understand the race more, I can understand why Tajara players do what they do. Not to mention, they seem to form this big IC community. They all share the same war-torn history, and they've all escaped that if they're here now. They're in an alien environment. The only people they can really relate to are themselves. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The obvious thing is the third-person when talking. Most players seem to think this is set in stone, but it does state on the wiki that Tajara may slip up. That may just be there to give ease to those who forget in the heat of the moment. You have a dislike for warm temperatures, either rolling down jumpsuits or wearing things that don't cover your torso. When speaking Tau Ceti Basic, Tajara roll their Rs, and may speak in a broken or slow manner. The reason for this being their unfamiliarity with languages based entirely on sound - Siik'tajr in particular includes a lot of body movement. All Tajara are equipped with claws. Those doing dexterous jobs might file these down to stop them getting caught. Speaking of jobs, Tajara are currently employed as a low-class workforce, doing dangerous or labour-intesive jobs such as mining for less pay than humans. Zhan-Khazan in particular value family and friends - this applies to an extent to co-workers. They're the lower-class race of all Tajara, and are looked down upon for their closer-to-primitive grasp on the world around them. They're most likely to face prejudice from other Tajara - something which makes them ever so slightly more human. But Tajara are not Human. Character Name: Zhen'ya Amaliah Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs What do you like about this character? I feel like from a human point of view, Zhen'ya is just another Tajaran worker. There is value in creating something unique, but this character is still young, malleable and impressionable. They're going once more into an alien environment, this time with higher stakes. I understand that the whole 'war-torn simple village life' is probably overused, and for this I apologise. In truth, I only really followed the crowd because it provided a semi-solid base for my character. I tried to stray from the generic route, but I fear I just went in a circle. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Out of 10, 6, I'd guess. I honestly can't rate myself. At the end of the day the only way for you to know how good you are at role-play is to be told by the people you role-play with. They're the ones that can truly see your characters for what they are and form their own opinions about them. Notes: I'm only human, it's 3 AM, there will be mistakes. I can't see them, but the chances are one of you can. Thanks.

Hey, you used Revwork. Where's my credit? (/j o k e) I agree that the round in question, although I didn't participate in it, wasn't the best, and highlighted a lot of glaring issues with Revolution. I will say now that these issues need to be addressed, but I'll also say that this sort of thing can happen in other gamemodes, and that the low-population is something you have to consider. The Revs got a strong foothold mainly because there was no one to oppose them - Security was SSD or the Revolutionaries. It's like playing a match of basketball with one team. There's quite literally nothing to stop you. I'm finding it very difficult to explain what I mean, but the Rev situation isn't as dire for me as it is for you. This is a difficult gamemode to balance. I agree with the Heads not getting Rev and having more chance as loyalist and vice versa. However giving someone at round start a gun sets the tone for the mode as violent. There are a lot of issues I see when the Security department finds out the Chef has a gun and is claiming to be an undercover agent.

[Approved]JamOfBoy's Dionaea Application
JamOfBoy replied to JamOfBoy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Your feedback is appreciated. That 'identify what makes this race different from role-playing a human' part was dumb, I honestly don't know how I missed actually answering the question, thank you for pointing it out for me. -
BYOND Key: Jamchop23334 Character Names: Eosisei Guwan, Aszi Guwan, Lark, Meris, Ka'Akaix'Mezi Zo'ra Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: As someone who mainly plays straightforward, 'easy' characters, I decided that to test my abilities as a competent Roleplayer, I needed to try something I inherently dislike. Someone told me that this is a good and solid way to test your skill and improve. I was always interested in the concept of an intelligent plant-person and just plant people in general, but being slow, oh so slow turned me away. I'm impatient. But still, I imagine there will be fun to be had. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionae are downright strange. They're baffling. It's strange to comprehend that a humanoid Dionaea isn't actually one being, but up to six, all joined together, transferring information. It's impossible to fully comprehend that the nymphs can also join together to form bigger structures. Dionae can learn complex or finicky tasks by watching. If a Dionae didn't know how to write, simply watching someone would provide them the knowledge required. This means that in theory they could fill any role of any job simply by watching. They have incredible memory, on-par or better than digital storage. If they see something, they probably wont forget it. All Dionaea are unique from another, due to the fact that their seeds spread so far and their ability to near-perfectly copy skills. They have no set culture. Mechanically: You require light to survive, essentially. You regenerate in light and take damage in darkness. This makes for dangerous times when Engineering doesn't or can't set up the engine - but danger is where the fun is. You move extremely slowly. This is due to their evolution possibly favouring energy economy over physical speed. Game wise, this and the last point makes you a tank rather than a hit and run in terms of combat. Against things you can't out run, like Plant-B-Gone, you're at a disadvantage. Like Vaurcae, you don't need suits to survive in low/no pressure. You're fine in the cold emptiness of space - as long as you have light. You can regrow limbs. Character Name: Eyes That Gaze Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Eyes That Gaze was formed from a stray spray of Dionae seeds, who landed on a mining outpost a time ago. Miners found the pods, and exposed them to water and nutrients, and the nymphs formed into Eyes That Gaze. The Dionaea's time on the mining outpost was short, but there they were subjected to a religion which worshipped light. In the short time Eyes had, the Dionaea studied and learned about as much of this religion as possible. It's teachings resonated - make this large universe better through many small actions, leaving comfort and peace in your wake. Gaze was transferred to be studied in an isolated environment. This was short lived, and soon They was to be studied in social and interactive tests. Where a more applicable place for research than on board a state-of-the-art Research Station? But an issue arose - how do you test this fairly? Giving the subject a position of experimentation and only experimentation would alter the results. Sending them to interact with people as a test subject would cause bias. To even the odds, to balance this correctly, to retrieve accurate results, the environment must be natural. So, Eyes That Gaze was assigned a job - Priest of the Church Of The Holy Light. (yes, the meme religion on the wiki) What do you like about this character? Eyes That Gaze is rather new to interacting with people. There seems to be a large amount of pirate Dionaea, which I wanted to avoid. Their name matches their experiences thus far - being observed and watched, being alien. The other characters I've played don't really have this, barring my Vaurca, so it's something I can improve upon. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Out of 10, 7. I can definitely improve, and all of the above is my effort to do so. Notes: I'd rather you tell me if things are downright wrong and let me improve them, even if it's minor - I want to do this right. The wiki is a little, uh, lacklustre when it comes to Dionaea. Following this, I have a couple questions: 1. I'm rather uncertain on the backstory. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it more genuine? Is it fine the way it is? 2. Can Dionaea actually assimilate corpses in game? 3. How does regenerating limbs work? 4. How fast do Dionaea sprint, and how long can they sprint? How does regenerating the sprint 'meter' work? 5. What is a general limit on how fast a Dionaea can talk? Most of the few I've seen talk often... like... this. I don't like that. Any other information you can provide on the race is appreciated, too. Mechanical or lore-wise.

[Accepted] JamOfBoy's Vaurca Application
JamOfBoy replied to JamOfBoy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hey, I've updated the backstory. I had a little bit of trouble fleshing it out, but that's probably due to my choice of Brood. If you have any suggestion on how to expand on the backstory a little, I'd appreciate it, but if you think it's fine the way it is, you don't have to bother. I've also updated the 'what makes it different to roleplay' section, more for compensation of the chunks of backstory I cut. -

I'm humbled to be your first app, Vaurcaboss! I'll wait until the wiki has been fully updated before reviewing my app. All of the changes seem reasonable so I'll be glad to incorporate them when I get to read in more detail - I knew that with the coming of a new Vaurca lore writer I'd have to change it at some point. Thanks for your feedback. -
kois yezzer BYOND Key: Jamchop23334 Character Names: Eosisei Guwan, Meris, Lark Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): RGB 51, 0, 0 - Unbound Zo'ra. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Vaurcae seem to be the most fleshed out and complicated race in terms of both in-game mechanics and lore (No offence to the other races, it's just the way I see it) and that intrigues me. I think it'd be a challenge to properly RP a Vaurca, and I want to challenge myself. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: A whole lot. Let's start with the mechanics. The Vaurcae language is a global message system, similar to the binary which the AI and station-bound have. Vaurcae (workers) don't need hardsuits typically - their carapace renders them pressure and cold resistant, which is good because they can't wear many suits. They require phoron to breathe. This is helpful (in the few seconds before a fire breaks out) when someone floods the station with phoron. They're immune to slipping, but so are the perfect race, Skrell. They can only eat k'ois - something which I have a bit of a gripe with. Vaurcae don't self-heal like the other races, making them slightly similar to IPCs in that every bit of damage adds up. They take double the toxin damage, they bleed out very fast, and flashes will blind if done repeatedly. Cloning a Vaurca will clone them without any non-organic parts. Workers are slower, but more resistant to damage except fire. Warriors are more resistant to fire damage, are faster, and can bite. In terms of non-mechanical differences, Vaurcae have very photosensitive eyes, and get migraines from exposure to lights. As a trade-off, they can see extremely well in the dark. Vaurcae are usually specialised for their job, and wouldn't typically be good at two completely different positions. For example, one working in security may have a tall and broad body and may be very adept in hand-to-hand combat but would know nothing about science in any form. Their speech is also something to note. While the common element, both before and after the new lore changes, was to replace 's' with 'z' and call it a day, the new changes indicate the struggles a being with such an odd mouth would have communicating - even with prosthetic help. The 'p' sound can turn into 'b', 't' into 'd', 's' retains it's change into 'z', 'g' goes into 'k' as if your nose was blocked, 'f' goes into 'v' and 'sh' noises can go into 'zh'. It's important to note that not all of these impediments are necessary to be upheld at all times, and since the cybernetic implants can vary from Vaurcae, not all impediments may take affect. Vaurcae have three sacred words which, depending on their brood, must uphold, very similar to some religions in the real world. The first word, Procedure, is the most vital - it states that every Unbound Vaurcae has the right to voice their general objections to their Brood about subjects or questions, and that they are allowed to form their own, personal but informed and educated opinions about said subjects. The second word, Consensus, means the same thing as it does to us - it means that everyone agrees on something that either satisfies the masses or satisfies everyone. It means everyone gave their opinions, voiced their complaints and received answers, explanations or work-arounds for them. The third word is Discipline, and my my does this link to real-world religions. Similar to how monks would undergo suffering to rid themselves of greed and impurities in their character, Vaurcae do not seek comfort or enjoyment in Material. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Mezi Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Mezi experienced true joy within the virtual world - she explored the world of engineering and physics. While others built complex machines and engines, or went full architect and built hives, Mezi built systems of pipes and pumps, and experienced the world of atmospherics primarily. Though she initially dabbled with all kinds or engineering, meeting like-minded Vaurcae and sharing ideas and knowledge, her passion remained squarely on the world of pumping phoron. Working with others to create complex networks applicable to the simplest of things felt wonderful. The faintest of noises - a bump, a hiss, a click - all muffled by the euphoria of this paradise were the warnings that arrived too late. Mezi was yanked - her number drawn, absolute - from her paradise, brought into such a strange and unknowing dream. She had Descended. She pushed out with her mind and felt the pressure of the hive. In this moment knowledge swarmed to her. Ax'tal received a request from Nanotrasen for an Engineer, and Mezi had the Black Number. She found herself on Biesel, confused. She had accepted to work, of course - but the disconnection she felt was crushing. Time rushed by like a blur - a painfully bright, colourless blur - and her body felt numb. Her life in the real world began. As Vaurcae aren't allowed 'proper' jobs as it were, Mezi is a mere Engineering Apprentice. She faces the working week headstrong and determined to make it to the weekend where she can sink back into Virtual, where she can tinker to her hearts' content. Mezi looks at their disconnection from VR as a bad thing, but they're accepting of their new life and existence. What do you like about this character? I've seen a lot of Engineering Vaurcae, but never one who was an apprentice. On the wiki, it states that unbound are limited to civilian-level jobs only without the proper paperwork. Playing this character will also give me a good opportunity to learn engineering, as it along with security are the departments I've avoided. How would you rate your role-playing ability? It isn't really for me to judge. If I had to rate myself, I'd go for a solid 7.5/10. Notes: While I said Vaurcae were the most complex and detailed lore wise, it also means they're the hardest to get right. I know I've made some mistakes, I doubt I got it right on the first try. Feedback is appreciated.

[Declined] Ariever's Unathi App
JamOfBoy replied to ariever's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Your character is a female Unathi. From memory, females usually act as housewives and have little to no opportunities to do anything else with their lives. Even if I'm completely wrong about this, flesh out that backstory. How did her parents teach her? Did she go to any schools? How did she end up working on the NSS Exodus? What was life like for her on Moghes? You've got good potential, but reread the lore page and look at other Unathi applications. I haven't seen you RP, nor any of your characters, so I'm putting solid trust on that 9/10. I can't give this a full +1. Not the way it is. So, on unsteady ground, I'll give it a +0.5. -
[Accepted] XenosTiger IPC whitelist application.
JamOfBoy replied to XenosTiger's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
As someone who has had RP with both Xenos organic AND synthetic characters, I have to say that they know what they're doing. I will admit - Epsilon is a rather quirky and odd character, especially for a cyborg. But having witnessed Angel as a pAI before, I believe that making the transition to IPC will allow for greater RP opportunities and character development, and it will hopefully expand their knowledge of synthetics as a whole. +1. -
[Accepted] JamOfBoy's Shell IPC Application
JamOfBoy replied to JamOfBoy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
That's the first time I've been '+1'ed. Thanks. It means more than you think that you even read it, let alone liked it. -
BYOND Key: Jamchop23334 Character Names: Most played to least played: Eosisei Guwan, Meri Idris(Strike-through explained later.), Tulip Muta, Skyler Williams. Species you are applying to play: IPC - Shell. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. The concept of artificial intelligence, and better yet, artificial life has always appealed to me in general - I haven't just read this page for the chance to play as one, but more so out of intrigue and curiosity. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: As stated previously, I've always liked synthetic life. When it's obvious that you aren't organic at a glance, that's alright - but when you need to check twice, and assume, the potential for RP goes up drastically. Shell appeals to me for this reason - Industrial are, well, Industrial - I don't really know how to play Security, and Engineering doesn't appeal to me. Regular IPCs are good, and a regular IPC would have been my choice for this application - if I hadn't thought up of a story that seemed to fit better if the character was a Shell. They were built to fit in - but what happens when they can't? Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:IPCs are made to serve - they're mechanical humans. No one ever said they were made to emulate human social structure and behaviour, but it happened. As a Shell, you take on the appearance of a human. You'd assume at this point they'd (the expensive, high budget ones) be pretty close to being human, but somehow, they always miss that mark. Unathi, the first race I whitelisted for, would be horrified at the understanding of a Shell. A mechanical, artificial, synthetic being, covered in fake flesh, made to emulate... Anti-Synth characters and races will pose as interesting opportunities to form rivalries and conflict - all properly RP'ed of course. Onto game mechanics, EMPs are major threats to IPCs in general, and even prosthetic-ridden organics. The need to charge at APCs, allowing characters to easily identify me as a synthetic, the use of suit coolers instead of oxygen tanks - they're big giveaways. Truthfully, I know how Baseline and Industrial IPCs are repaired, but in regards to the Shell's synthskin, I have no clue. If anyone could fill me in on the mechanics of that, or better yet, let me figure out, that'd be great. I imagine, in terms of IPC 'surgery', through logic you'd use a combination of surgical tools and construction tools - surgical to manipulate the synthskin, construction to open up the maintenance hatches on limbs and body parts. Character Name: Meris Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Meri Idris, a 31 year old qualified Electrician and Roboticist working on the NSS Exodus, killed herself. Her debt to contractors, the stress of work, the force her peers exerted on her socially and physically lead her to the easy way out. Her family, parents and extended, were angry, devastated, and confused. Why? Who? Despite her debt, her parents refrained from lending any of their rather middle-class amount of money to their daughter. It was her own problem, and she carried it to the grave, buried along side her. Her family became desperate. She had high hopes for the future - so they all thought. But their very own genius was dead, and gone. In this desperation, they clawed and clutched at straws. What if we made her - a synthetic her - to fill her place? Her personality, nature, character - it'd be like she never left. But, the Idris family weren't rich, and a synthetic person is far from cheap. Despite this, they sought out small robotic industries, scrimping and saving at every corner lest they run dry. It was a long haul, but eventually, the pieces fell together. The parts were functional, the power was turned on - the complex positronic brain crafted into a prosthetic her-- And it was a disaster. She wasn't anything like Meri. Her personality wasn't close, exaggerated or minimised - it wasn't there. Her brash, yet soft nature was turned sharp, yet blunt - blatantly synthetic. She was well and truly gone. The Idris family was left broken. Broken in money, broken in spirit, and broken in grief. They tried to continue life, as if she was the same...but even Medris, the newly(?) made IPC, couldn't accept it. The parents decided to send Medris to fill Meri's boots - in her own way. Medris was made able to learn, and rather poorly emulate human social mannerisms. Some mannerisms, which she picked up while aiming to become a Medical Doctor, stuck, and she became incredibly lonesome and shy - she spoke only when spoken to, and when the situation demanded it, even going as far as learning sign language so she could communicate in a different way. Truthfully, she felt ashamed that the only thing that was close Meri was her voice. She learned to dislike herself, picturing herself as a failure. Because she was. But she understood that she existed, and there was nothing she could do about it. What do you like about this character? Most of my characters have been, well, abrasive, whether I wanted them to be or not, with the exception of Tulip, who couldn't speak. This character is aiming to be alone - enough to warrant avoiding fights and accepting verbal abuse which Eosisei, my Unathi, struggles with. What I'm trying to say is - she's different. She'll take a punch and won't give one back. Be it because she doesn't understand why humans are violent, or because of the shy nature she picked up, she's not aggressive and I as a player will have to adapt to that. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Well, if anyone has played with my Unathi, they're the only people that can truly and fairly judge me on this. But I memorised the things Unathi do - smacking their tails on the floor, hissing and swaying when nervous, feeling sleepy when warm - that sort of stuff. I'd be willing to do it once more. On my Unathi App, I posted that out of 10 (10 being perfect RP, 1 being '*decapitates u*') I was a 6/10. I believe that, as was the point of applying for a race, I have improved to at least a 7/10. Typing that has made me feel cocky and proud, and not in the good way. Notes: Wowzers, my second app. Funnily enough, it's what my first app's character would hate. Like last time, please understand that I'm not used to doing this sort of stuff. With my Unathi, it was different - I had played them on other servers. I've never ever played an IPC. Thank you for taking the time to read through this mess - feedback is appreciated and trust me when I say I will work hard to improve this if I need to. I don't tend to get things right on the first go. In terms of feedback, I definitely think I can put more effort into the backstory. Maybe it's just my nature to dislike what I write, but it seems...lackluster. Not that it's meant to be a dramatic novel of adventure and mystery - it's supposed to be simple and plain. It doesn't feel...fleshed out, or described enough.
-
+1 because you're smarter than me.

Thank you for some feedback - it is very much appreciated. I'll head back to my rough notes, see what I can put together to improve my backstory - and hopefully clean it up a little. -
BYOND Key: Jamchop23334 Character Names: Tulip Muta, Skyler Blue, Hayden Briggs and a couple one-offs. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Orange-brown - 'sand coloured' Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, on Aurora's wiki, and on Baystation, about three times each. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Its the only race I haven't really bothered to look at, or appreciate. Up until now, all I saw in Unathi was 'hyper aggressive lizard people'. What I see now is traditional, honour and code bound lizard people. And that works for me. I love the concept of a code of honour, and warrior traditions - which the Unathi have. I particularly like 'Guwandi' and Guwan parts of their culture - the sharing stories and then fighting to the death is just awesome to me. I also love their 'act now, think later' style of space warfare - the ram and breach seems to really sum them up for me. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The obvious one is their speech impediment - they draw out their 's's, and if their accent is thick enough, they tend to go like thixs. Basic is (basically) never a Unathi's first language and thus this explains their speech issues. The next is their social behaviour - Unathi thump their tail on the ground when irritated, much like how a human would stop their foot. They also chuff, or bark, or rattle, which I find to be quite amusing. Much like snakes, Unathi sway, rattle or hiss when worried or anxious. They refer to superiors by their extended name of command. For example - in a squad called Delta, you would call the squad leader Delta. Intimate gestures include the twining of neck and tail or touching muzzle and forehead. Exposing the neck to someone could be seen as the most meaningful expression of trust, or an expression of shame. Character Name: Eosisei Guwan Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Eosisei was destined to grow up as a healer, in a small, poor, nomadic clan clutching to old traditions and following Th'akh, but a feud with another clan cut his training short. Eosisei's clan were secluded from politics - being small and poor they had bigger problems. Other clans didn't like this, and refused to trade goods - even going to the extent of raiding their already poor supplies. They didn't have enough able bodies to cover doing everything - so they had to lack in their number of dedicated fighters to be able to survive. At 14 years of age, during a sandstorm, most of his clan was killed, including his parents, and multiple buildings and resources were destroyed. He and his friend managed to survive, along with a handful of other people. They had about a week before the next party from the other clan arrived. They stayed with what they had left, unable to part with the ground their clan had claimed - fearing ancestors would bring them downfall and sorrow - and so, he and his friend were taken as prisoners. Eosisei, a couple years later, was freed, and returned to his starving clan, without his friend. Eosisei was deemed a coward for returning alive, and starved, unworthy of food. Combat between these two clans had settled down considerably - both were tired and didn't want more blood on their hands. An incident regarding a female lead to tension and anger - and war was declared. Eosisei was one from five capable warriors. The clan didn't have many weapons, and what weapons they did have, were damaged, low quality, and outclassed. Eosisei was deemed unworthy of a weapon, and was sent into battle with nothing but his claws. Eosisei was the only survivor. The ones that survived the initial fight had too grave wounds, and died from their injuries. Among the dead was Eosisei's childhood friend - slain by Eosisei's own claws. When Eosisei returned to his clan, he saw a graveyard of dead families and ruined buildings. Eosisei had nothing to return to, and thus, took the name of Guwan. Eosisei roamed the wasteland for most of his life, his luck only seeming to worsen as memories of his friend, his clan, and the battles and tradgedies he had to witness torn his mind apart. Politics, battles, and the state of the universe seemed to pass by. Eosisei was eventually found by NT as most Guwan are. Being deemed a 'half-baked medic', Eosisei was sent to an industrial facility as a stand-by doctor, healing workers in mines and factories. Eosisei eventually became a full time industrial worker in a ore processing factory, climbing ranks and eventually being signed up to work on a Research station. What do you like about this character? Done literally nothing heroic and got shut down/turned away. Was born into a pretty poor and small clan at war. Classic story of an underdog, and should make for some interesting RP, hopefully. Mental issues from his ordeal. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I struggle with rating myself, so I'll go with a modest 6/10. In words, good, but could be better (which is why I'm applying for a race.). I trust myself with creating interesting characters. Notes: Don't get me wrong, I understand this isn't the best app for a race, but it is my first go, so give me a chance. I'm tired and ill right now, but I really like Aurora's portrayal of Unathi and I think I could carry that as a character. As I understand, whitelisting works where I give you trust that I can create characters worthy to play, and in return, you let me play those characters. I'm willing to improve and will probably have to. Thanks for taking the time to read through this mess I conjured up at the middle of the night. The character - Believes in Th'akh - fears angry ancestors brought bad luck to his life 6'7, male, sand-coloured scales, average body size, couple scars, notably a couple scales missing around the base of the skull/nape of the neck and a small scar just above the left eye.
