Bar Customization and Taste System.
Wiebman replied to SomeoneOutTher3's topic in Completed Projects
I like the bar customization, but I'm not sure about the taste. Seems like it might make it too easy to detect spiked drinks, and also a lot of coding work, and a lot of spam in the chat, if you're gobbling down food, or guzzling drinks. -
I would say, increase burn damage too (As they would dry out.) And for mechanical difference, err, maybe having the need for some sort of on-body fluid IV, as to not dry out, the IV needing replenishing?
-
Custodian works too. (: Just not janitors. Maybe concierge as well?
-
It doesn't really need to be split up, but I just think it'd be fun. Before detective and forensic were split into two, it was just the same job with two titles. I think it's just more of a (minor but fun) choice.

Nice guide. (:

Issa Sanitation technician/Sanitation expert or something like that. And/or custodian.

I don't think I've had a lot of experience with your characters yet, but I haven't seen you cause any trouble, and your background looks solid. +1 (: -
Wiebman's Vaurca whitelist application
Wiebman replied to Wiebman's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I altered and expanded the backstory a bit. I know it's not perfect, but I have a hard time coming up with a good Vaurca backstory, I hope you like it more now. <3 -

Still a +1, but I also want to attest to how good SCU is of an AI! -

BYOND Key: Wiebman Character Names: Samuel Ibn Najjar, Romayne Smirnov, Gervasio Robustelli, Weronika Popov Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Green-ish. (RGB 71, 71, 21) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Because I think that the Vaurca, as a species, is a neat concept. I like the idea of a hivemind caste-type species, as it allows for cool roleplay, and I would like to try playing a bound Vaurca in game, after (if at all) I get the whitelist, also just playing a huge insect guy, who looks pretty neat, seems fun as well. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Plenty of things, the widespread depression among unbound Vaurca, because they miss the VR, having to work in fairly bad conditions, (as the normal station air isn't breathable, the light hurts their eyes, and they have trouble communicating with the others), playing an bound slave, playing them being similar to playing a slaved synthethic, but with less personality, and just having to be a second rate citizen, and subject to plenty of racism. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Vohn K'Lax Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs What do you like about this character? Ka'Akaix'Vohn K'Lax was like any other unbound vaurca, spending lots of years in the blissful VR, where he prefered to spend his days learning architecture, physics, mechanics, and then building marvelous structures and hives. He built tons, and tons of virtual hives, in the name of his queen, countless ones, to statisfy his passion for the queen. He did this his whole VR-life, before he was abruptly disconnected from his VR. He was awoken by a sudden darkness, and a loud "Pssssh" of air escaping his pod. He stepped out of his pod, cold, naked, and slimey, blinking as his eyes were adjusting. He didn't like this. He didn't like this place, and he already missed his VR. He quickly turned around, only to find his pod closed again, with no ways of opening it. Defeated, he accepted this, and went out to go face his fate. It didn't take him long to realize that he would never be able to truly excercise his talent for the good of the queen. Crushed by the absence of his VR, and tools, he started working some small jobs on Biesel. He spent a few months there, with odd jobs, or jobs no one else really wanted to take, before he noticed a recruiting bureau from Nanotrasen. He did not hesitate long, visiting on the same day. He applied, boasting his skills and abilities, from a lifetime in VR engineering. Nanotrasen allowed him to work as a shaft miner, for bad pay. But Vohn still eagerly grabbed this chance with both insect-y hands, eager to get back to building and working. How would you rate your role-playing ability? About a 7, 7.5/10 maybe. I've been roleplaying for a long time, and roleplaying on SS13 for about 5 years now. Other than SS13, I've played other roleplaying games as well, and like playing pen and paper games as well. Notes: Thanks to The Stryker for giving me an idea for the background. (:

The Ibn Najjar family did indeed side with the Hadii's, their own family being less minded on accumulating wealth, and more on collecting literature and arts, they did not mind that much to defect with them, as they were not that bent on keeping slaves as some of the other nobility, after the revolution, they did their best to spread their knowledge with the other rebels, after that they stayed with the Hadii family, through both president Rhagrrhuzau Hadii, and his follower, Njadrasanukii Hadii, (leading up to the next question.) Under both presidents, they occupied office jobs, as accountants, mostly managing the militairy budgets of the people's republic's army. Samuel enjoys a lot of things, while he is though when he needs to be, he also has a soft soul. He enjoys reading books in his downtime, while smoking pipe, listening to music, watching movies, (recently he has taken a liking to watching old human movies). He likes socialising with others, and travelling as well, to experience other cultures, admire their architecture, and nature. Samuel has ambitions of climbing ranks. He knows that it isn't easy for a Tajaran, to climb the ladder, but he would like a decent job, and a solid income, so that he may retire later in his life, and travel parts of the galaxy. He wouldn't mind a companion, but he is not actively looking for a partner, as he is close to his family, but also perfectly able to live, travel, or work alone, and meet people on the way. As part of his travellings, he would love to write about his activities, and maybe publish his stories later in life. He does not have a lot of extended family left, but he does keep regular contact with his parents, often visiting them in his vacations. While they do not particularly approve of his spirit of adventure, -they would rather have had him stay on Adhomai, and maybe employ an office job similar to theirs-, they don't hold any sort of grudge, as long as he stays out of trouble. -

Yeah, I understand, I've been doing my best to get feedback, but I'm fairly new on the server, so it's not that easy to come by, and my computer apparently died yesterday. -
5 is a lot though, I've rarely seen people get cloned more than once a round. Just an idea, but maybe we should only give people like 5 clones a week, (since they have the choice to get cloned or not as a ghost). Because most other ideas, (tumors, missing organs, missing body parts, bad clones,...) seem somewhat silly, since I'd think Nanotrasen would have already perfected cloning by now, at least to the point where people don't miss arms or legs, or organs.

BYOND Key: Wiebman Character Names: Romayne Smirnov, Gervasio Robustelli Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Propably one of the ’Akhran, so a cinnamon-y or cream color. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Because I think that Tajara behavior has some fun implications for roleplaying, they are open to the types of jobs I like playing, and I think that visually, they look cool. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For one, their obvious restriction on the head positions, but also their way of talking, different personalities, the mechanics regarding heat, gloves, shoes, and the possibility of being on the receiving end of some space-racism. Character Name: Samuel Ibn Najjar Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Samuel grew up in Nal'tor, as the son of his father, Abbas Ibn Najjar. As a member of the Njarir, and coincidentally as a noble, Samuel got into, what would be considered by Tajara norms, a good school for education. At the age of 18, he went into training with the military, before assisting in the military as well. Samuel was proudly employed in the people's army of Adhomai (The republican/loyalist army, -not that he truly was such a loyalist, but rather that he just took pride in his job. Samuel did not really care much for the politics, or ideas of the loyalists, but he obviously did not fight them either-), for 5 years, as infantry member in the Ras'Nrr Military district, on the Rhazar Front, 4th army, 22nd division, in the 63th brigade. After Samuel's service, he "retired", needing some peace after his service, he "retired" to a calmer region, where he worked as a farmhand for two years, before growing tired again, of a now *too* calm life. Samuel had gotten wind of Nanotrasen's search for crew on their stations. Samuel quickly applied, and was later accepted. After being accepted, Samuel was transferred to one of Nanotrasen's stations, where, after a month of basic training, he moved up from assistant, to cargo technician, a job which he still employs to this day, this time, with pride for his job, and the company. What do you like about this character?: Samuel has lead a varied life, up to now, and because of his history, it wouldn't be that weird for him to play as a member of cargo, or employ the role of a security officer. He also takes pride in what he does, and who he is. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I don't know, I think that would be around a 7/7.5 maybe, I've roleplayed for +6 years now, and I think I'm decent, but definitely not the best, nor is English my mother language, but I always try to do my best. Notes: I've played on SS13 for about 5 years now, although I've only fairly recently started playing on Aurora. That being said, I almost never played on more game-heavy (as opposed to roleplay-heavy) servers, like most TG's, or Goon, I've played on Apollo for a long time.
