Hmm. Well, while this does not affect my martian character specifically (Besides the fact he now grew in a dome, I guess, rather than a terraformed area, and is in the capitol now), I do think this seems to take out an interesting element of mars. I thought that it having had a large struggling population made it more interesting seeing how earth is already post-war enough to be doing fairly well and New Mendell is a thriving economy. Gave characters a central and commonly-enough known location that offers a lower class background.

Tomixcomic's Head of Staff Application
Tomixcomics posted a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
BYOND key: Tomixcomics Character names: Jason Finn, Enzo Kryll How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About a year. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Sometimes playing Civvy jobs gets a little boring, and I like my characters being in the fray, I think playing a head of staff during an emergency should be tons of fun. Also, future rounds. I'd like to think my character made it to a HOS position after 20 years with the company. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was probably looking for a server that had people on it while my at-the-time usual server was empty and ended up staying because I liked it a lot. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying is about playing a game that isn't as bound by gameplay mechanics, but rather by your own imagination. It is a great excercise of creating a character, and trying to see the world(or rather, A world) through their own eyes, and respond as they would. It also lets you play with your ego and id, allowing yourself to act in ways you wouldn't necessarily act in the real world because you are neither yourself, nor do you have to face the consequences (sometimes you face consequences as your character, but that just throws an extra fun challenge into reacting to situations as your character). What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The purpose of a Head of Staff is to manage their department as efficiently as possible, delegate responsibilities as is necessary, and keep their department running as efficiently as they could. A properly functioning head of staff should be able to keep his department in order and functining smoothly to the best of their ability. Also, from an RP standpoint, a less-than-effcient Head of Staff tends to be good for throwing a wrench into things, creating conflict and therefore interesting RP opportunities. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: -To fill positions that require high level knowledge and commitment to gameplay, which are too important to allow for potential griefers or inexperienced players to fill. -To create an interesting game dynamic -To try to control things and put them into order either for in character reasons(such as their job responsibility) or for the sake of everyone's enjoyment(such as involving people who are bored into interesting situations, or making sure people facing a disaster have an idea of what's going on instead of them just dying senselessly) Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Jason Finn Character age: 29 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Jason was born in Olympia, Mars, he had a happy childhood, growing up with other family members living nearby, when he was a teenager, after an undisclosed fiasco at work, his father's job transferred him to the Tau Ceti system. This came as a big blow to Jason, who loved living on Mars Despite some of the more commonplace difficulties he faced there. Tau Ceti life proved to be very different and require much adjustment. Soon enough he grew up to the point where he had to support himself financially. With little to no choice and a struggling monopoly based economy, he signed up for work in Nanotrasen, who offered slightly adequate pay and guarenteed employment, if at elevated risk. The job required yet another move which distanced him from his family even more, but such is the road of independance! After working at the Aurora for a while he discovered college internships were offered by Nanotrasen, and so he signed up for it, thinking it would liberate him from the financial burden of Med School. Little did he know that he was essentially dooming himself to working with Nanotrasen for more years to come than he ever would have signed up for if he knew. On the Aurora he met many friends, two who ended up becoming more than just friends, one of those ended badly, the other one hasn't ended as of yet. He recently graduated med school and pretty much his entire scheduele is taken up by either residency at the hospital or work at the station to try and pay back for student loans. This has takena toll on his social life and for the time being the station is essentially his only place to socialize. What do you like about this character?: For the mostpart, he actually does try to be good and nice. It's certainly not impossible to get on his bad side, but his default mode is not one of a jerk, and even if you are on his bad side, he would probably try to work it out within the station's laws. He also trusts NT's judgment way too much for his own good. He doesn't see them as a big evil corporation. While he's not blind to many of their flaws, he figures it's forgivable given that they're the main source of financial stimulous and employment in a struggling universal economy. What do you dislike about this character?: He's a bit prone to freaking out. However, he tends to do this much less in positions of importance. (He'll probably try harder to let cooler heads prevail if he's working medbay than if, say, he's a Chef.). Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff? (Please note that Head characters must be over 30, unless given special clearance): He will be once he turns 30. I am rapid-aging him so it shouldn't take long (A year ago he was 26...) Why?: He takes pride in his work, often putting the quality of his work above other such pleasures as social interactions, but not to the point of being a corporate cog. He is genuinely interested in making the station a better place, both in matters of making it a safer, more enjoyable workplace, and in terms of efficiency. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would say it is pretty good, I allow myself to immerse myself in the character I am playing, and believe I do a good job as such. I would say that my tendancy to make typos might get in the way of that, however, but I do try. Extra notes: -

---Jason Finn--- Mr. Stamos has gone out of his way to patronize and antagonize me on many occasions, be it by calling me a variety of slurs and cusswords, throwing eggs at me along with a friend of his, or by attempting to force-feed me animal meat after I stated I am a vegetarian. He does this at every chance he gets, it is getting far too disruptive, not to mention upsetting.

Isn't that against server rules?

I make geeky chocolates.

If we're straying into non-SS13 related territory... Here's a page from a comic I made about a trip I took to New York:
-
Uhm... I don't see how doing that was within your rules. I mean, drones have several responsibilities that rank higher than saving themselves. But seeing how you could argue that rules are open to interpertation... I still think there are better ways to handle this. Admins are swamped, mistakes happen or they don't have time to answer ahelps occasionally. If you believe a mistake was made, I think it's better to discuss it over with an admin rather than just quit. :\

I'm not really sure how to process this. It's pretty shocking. Not really sure what there is to say that won't come out as underwhelming given the size of the matter. I wish you that you get to do and enjoy everything you are setting out to do and enjoy and that the entire process is as smooth and painless as possible. If there's something I can do to help out with it, let me know, I'm not too far away. It's been a pleasure chatting with you, either way.

chef can't access pasture either apparantly.

Botanist can't exit/enter through the pasture--Fixed

while your grandma is certainly badass, I can't help but feel a bit weirded out that she drew something like /that/ for you. o.O;;

Your.... Grandmother... drew this?!

Love the update. Having said that, here are issues: -kitchen tables look unconnected. -kitchen has no door leading to bar, despite it technically being possible and fairly necessary. Had to do some counter-climbing only several minutes into the round. this also makes the access to the pasture be way more complicated --fixed -botany has no counter facing outwards -Kitchen is accessible to all --fixed -kitchen backroom has no lights --It's a blown bulb you saw -this might just be a matter of personal taste but I HATE that the cupboards and fridge with the eggs, flour, etc. are in the backroom. it means you have to walk to the backroom for litteraly every thing you want to make. -another matter of personal taste: counter space feels a bit limited. :/ overall I just think it might be best to expand the kitchen one tile in any direction and fix some of the issues it has >_>; -NO POOL ( I thought there was gonna be a pool setting in the holodeck at least but there isn't even that and the pool was important to me T_T -Minor issue: the elevated wooden patio to the right of the holodeck has the stairs sprites backwards on it, it looks like you go down into it rather than up (the stairs int he maintenance area for it are int h same direciton, making a sort of double-down). I don't see what purpose it serves, maybe it's space can be used for something else? Like pool? --Sounds note, Please do not remove the strikethroughs or comments
