It doesn't have to be, you know. I'm sure this concept could be balanced somehow. Like if you were to knock into someone and both of you fall over, you could scatter apart a few tiles? Or you could counter their push so that they're the only one falling over? I like the ideas for stamina drain and ready stances.

A method of takedown that deals no damage and takes no equipment to do, but also doesn't give you the advantage of an instant pin or grapple because you fall over as well. Primarily for cutting off someone that is fleeing and giving time for backup to arrive, but also an obstacle for sprinting carelessly. It could deal some damage, but not more than a bruise or nothing at all. It could be balanced in a number of ways, and I will present some ideas that could work. It is also somewhat realistic, and presents a real factor to sprinting around in hallways with disregard for others. This is not a method of combat disarm. It would take a third person to approach either of the fallen people to attempt pinning or grappling. You could make it so that depending on the armor they're both wearing, it could be impossible to knock them over. If you're weighed down in a big suit of armor and someone else isn't, they could just fall over instead. If you're both in heavy armor, you are both knocked over. For balance purposes, however, this could not be done. You could make it take a certain amount of sprinting(3-5 seconds) before the knockdown is applied to both of you on touch, to avoid it being something someone can do at the very beginning of a fight. Turning the button on and waiting shouldn't do the same thing. You should have to actually run to gain momentum. This helps prevent accidental or annoying knockdowns when two people are trying to pass each other in the hall, as you normally have to stop and plot a path around them, giving time for a reset. Race COULD be a factor, making larger and bulkier races better at dealing with smaller ones bumping into them. But, perhaps not. An m'sai may be able to catch up to an unathi, but that may not mean a guaranteed tackle is going to occur.

I think it should also be available at coffee machines throughout the station, so I don't have to backpack from one side of the station to the bar because I want sugar in my coffee. But people in the bar would benefit from that, and it's also close to the kitchen.
-
Take this with a grain of salt, but I also asked around out-of-context in real life and other places if anyone's known anyone that took sugar and creamer to work. It's not completely unheard of.

We have dispensers, but it's not provided at coffee machines, and not everyone has access to a dispenser without talking to the chef or somebody. And I don't know about you, but having to go visit the cook or something is a bit much when I just wanna make a cup of coffee the way I want. That stuff could be provided either at the coffee machine with the coffee or/and in the break room like you said. Loadout implementation is not a must-have.

It'd be pretty weak, ngl. The kind of thing where if you threw coffee in someone's eyes, you have enough time to get the leg up and run or throw the first punch. I'd also think there should be a delay before you could be stunned that way again.

You could use something smaller for the canisters and pipes, such as a pallet and pallet jack(which I've suggested already). Imagine if you could put two phoron canisters and haul them all down to the engine room at once. The forklift would be, specifically, for things that should be physically impossible or extremely difficult to move. A forklift doesn't have to come into the equation for some of those things. Same goes for your emitter. While a RIG could fill in for the forklift or a mech, I still stand by my original suggestion. It doesn't have to be the all-encompassing mover of every little thing, just the bigger stuff that should be too heavy to move on your own. There's some room for other things to fill that gap, like your counter suggestion.

I really want forklifts, not mechs, but if the the mechs look and operate like forklifts...

While I don't know anyone who's taken these from home, them being available from or beside the coffee dispenser is fair, I think. IRL, most coffee 'stations' in a workplace have a space beside where you take your coffee to mix in what you want with plastic spoons and such that are provided for free. It's not impossible to buy your own sugar cubes to use at home, and it's not impossible to take them to work. It would just be odd, considering that most workplaces provide this stuff to you for free. There could be a small table with sugar cubes and these creamer packets. They could be purchased from the coffee machine, too, but I think they should be extremely cheap if that's the case.

Futuristic forklifts?
-
Sugar cubes and cream packets(liquid) added to coffee machines, both sugar cubes and cream packets being 5u each. Can be saved in your loadout to take some to work with you. Able to be added to coffee cups(they're half full, so there's plenty of room to add sugar or cream) dispensed from the coffee machine or to a glass. Should be fairly inexpensive.

If you implement a gambeson that doesn't protect against anything, I will literally eat my shoes! If it was something that was designed to look like a gambeson without actually being one, that's another story. P.S. I love gambesons.
-
I hear that this may have been a bug, and that it used to work this way before.
-
Other than historian nuts, or ancient history enthusiasts, who would wear this? A gambeson should absolutely have protective properties as well, especially cutting and blunt weapons. This is armor we're talking about here.

What I had in my head is that if you were drinking a hot cuppa, you could throw it in someone's eyes/face to then run away. A brief blinding would help, temporary slowdown MAYBE. If piping hot coffee, water, or something was thrown into your face you would be staggered for a moment. If it was extremely hot or a harmful substance, like acid, the effects could be more severe than just that. Sorry for my misleading title. I changed it.
-
I don't recall splashing ever really blinding or slowing down someone. It doesn't slow down, blind, or debilitate anyone in any way to be splashed directly in the face with a very hot liquid? Unless I'm mistaken? I know it can burn. But it's incredibly minor, to my recollection, and I'm not sure it can be targeted to body parts. I know you can splash people at least. But not in the eyes specifically?
-
Whether piping hot water, hot chocolate, or coffee, I think you could temporarily stun or disorient someone with an aimed splash to the face. On top of a mild burn, it could cause a spike of pain that goes away after. Sort of like an improvised, toned-down version of pepperspray or flash. Of course it won't floor someone, but it could make it hard to see for a couple of moments and cause enough pain to slow them down temporarily. A good option for a quick get-away or initiating a fight with an unfair, although slight, advantage. If the liquid is incredibly hot, such as water off a stove or something(if we have an equivalent) it could cause even severe damage and be awfully debilitating.

IKR? I can absolutely see them using something like this.

There are loads of things that are too heavy to move by hand, and I don't think we've explained it away yet. You could say that things have wheels, but none of this is reflected in spritework. Vending machines and many other huge things can be pulled at full sprint. I think we could use an immersive and fun device that is used in construction sites and real workplaces. The forklift! Engineering could get a couple of them, and a couple of keys as well. Thoughts? This could be used to haul so many things. It would be exciting. P.S. (Optional, but could come with this.) Make force gloves enable us to do what we can presently do in-game, with the addition of the forklift. Thereby making them more useful in a way that makes sense.

A cargo solution that is hand-driven and less reliant on vehicles. Stack 2-3 crates on a pallet, lift pallets with pallet jack, pull stack of crates by hand with pallet jack. Uses no power, faster setup, no keys to get it going, etc. Something quick and easy without being as elaborate and organized as a trolley while still enabling you to actually move a few boxes by yourself without a train running behind you, getting caught on everything and taking up the entire hallway. I decided to also add to this suggestion to make pallet jacks even more useful for things aside from boxes. You could also give a couple to engineering, so that they can move more than one canister at a time. Two or three, like the crates.

At present, we have to alt-click beneath a suit-cycler or right-click(dealing with slight delay) to reach under the machine and get our suit out. Could Suit Cyclers be changed so that suits ejected are put ON TOP or are discarded on the floor in front? Could the sprite be changed, even, to open and show the pieces inside? I think it's a little annoying to put up with, but bearable.

I think that Beepsky being controllable wouldn't defeat the weakness of patrols, given their less-than-stellar speed and extremely limited equipment. It could be balanced, I think. A real officer will be better than a remote-controlled Beepsky every time. They're also really flimsy. As for the other stuff, I didn't even know that was a thing.
-
Imagine controlling Beepsky from a terminal at the brig's front desk, on top of being able to see through their camera. This could potentially be powerful, if we were not only able to baton people but also unhandcuff those that they've wrongly arrested. Or to patrol without leaving the main office or endangering yourself? Maybe we could even talk through them! Thoughts on the idea? This expands on the PDA summoning. I think Beepsky could be more actively useful under manual control, and they're really not all that great otherwise. Remember to downvote below!

So that when you take a drag, a visible plume of smoke drifts away from your character's head. Doesn't necessarily add a whole lot, but it makes the fact they took a puff a lot more convincing along with the audio.

Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge
Fortport replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
I'm enjoying it so far. I've been getting along with the departments I am an officer for, but the offices are relatively underequipped. A problem every office has is that none of them have a recharger, crowbar, station bounced radio, or maglight. No pepperspray refiller either. These are essentials. Their offices are huge and could afford at least these things somewhere, just one of each. Medical Officer does not have access to the medbay smoking lounge, oddly enough. But going into the break room is okay? Other than that, I can't think of anything specific for the other departments. As I play more, I may have more to say. But that's my hot take on things that could improve.
