  1. While they are inexperienced, we had a good discussion about command both IC and in LOOC, about what makes a good Head and things to be careful about. They seemed to listen to what others have to say, and are excited to learn. For being new to command, they have the idea when it comes to the departmental side of things. I can't speak much to their Command level communications.
  2. Some time ago (not too long) before I took a hiatus from Aurora due to issues that were developing in real life, Gonzales was an MD whilst I was CMO. Gonzales was not an antag but was very much disregarding every statement I said, and eventually jumped to the mercs to join them as a captain and left. They acted like they knew the round type the entire time and did not do anything that they were ordered to and was basically waiting for the time the mercs would call ofr someone new to be captain of their team. None of it seemed to add up at the time as to why they acted that way.
  3. I find it insulting the fact they dismissed me as one at all. I've seen people make new characters just for that role. What does it matter if I've been around 6 months or 4 years either? Actively dismissing the players, and making them feel unwanted makes me feel that this is uncalled for aggression on the part of Resi. It is still not befitting for them to act in a dismissive way like that to someone in chat OOC or on another format. Additionally, I have reason to believe they are using their position as staff to meta information about the round to denote the situations in their favor, but sadly I don't screen capture everything. This is not proper for them to act like it.
  4. I made the complaint about last round, not the current one on-going for the OOC chat provided. It is not to do with the current round. I may have gotten the Round ID wrong if it is reading as this one. This is an OOC about the staff and their conduct and how they said what they did. Readthisnameplz did not like how I was conducting IC issues ICly, and that is another matter entirely at this time. This is purely about the logs that i have posted at this time and how CCIA Resilynn was acting in OOC.
  5. I would like to request another part of staff to handle this as there would be a large conflict of interest for Resilynn to be able to follow this in any for other then the capabilities of a standard player.
  6. BYOND Key: Activeknockback Staff BYOND Key: Resilynn Game ID: b4D-dtdS Reason for complaint: Active and Open hostilities and insults to players not befitting of someone within staff positions Evidence/logs/etc: See images. Additional remarks: It is documented that Resilynn and I do not care for each other, but this is at the point the staff member is openly insulting a player for how they play their characters. I actively try to avoid playing while I know Resylynn is online, often waiting until dead hour to become active at all in basic terms to avoid issues. Maxwell shown up about six months ago, true, but he only shown up because my other medical character was in no way qualified to fill that role that he was originally intended for, hence a new character was made. I have been playing since 2015-10-12 (Soulthief96 looked it up for me after asking) on various characters. They openly insult me both IC and OOC. I've made IRs in the past about IC stuff and this is not about that. I am getting tired of Resilynn making this server feel like I am not allowed on or welcome to it because of acts like this from someone who is supposed to be held to a higher standard then the run of the mill player with or without whitelists. I am not the only one who feels this way, but I know not the names of the othes CKeys so I cannot say to their information.
  7. +1 They are a good RPer that would bring more nice RP given the chance.
  8. One thing that i have noticed over the course of the station is the inconsistency of admin enforcement of rules/lore. I have seen bwoinks happen due to some insane reasons and then nothing for something that would break the entire round for others that are extended. Lin is a very dedicated character, be her Implanted or Not. I work with her constantly as Maxwell, she throws herself at threats to protect the station at crew to protect them, but she is able to be bested in non-combative ways. Where I find issue with this is how much she gets harassed ICly over every minor detail, even if it's by the book to the point I worry there are meta-grudges from some people who might not know the antag role they sign up for in other rounds. Part of her whole shtick is efficient loyalty to NT. If I am an antag and go with a poor/weak gimmick, then it should be me to get better and do research into ways to promote more RP with the crew. Most of the time Lin is HoS, she is one of usually two Heads of staff on. With only those two on, one of them is bound to be doing a lot of RP with antags, but there are ways to introduce characters without derailing the entire flow of the round. I watch it more often then not that the antags make no effort to RP anything other then gun happy hostage takers. Perhaps they are the ones who need to be looked at instead of a well put together character who likes what they do and is loyal to their employer?
  9. +1 I've played a large number of rounds with Ari, Victoria, and Alice. They are all very well played from multiple aspects and would make an interesting addition to command staff.
  10. I actually do have issue with this, as I have CMO set to high. I saw Gonzales on almost all day for my point of view. I figured that they would have been getting off after multiple hours of play and I would have had the chance to play. After the round started, and it was made clear that Fernando was the CMO, I took care of the ICU, the Cryotubes, and set the ORs before doing some RP with other parts of the station. I went to HoP's office to ask about a plan IF anything hit the fan, not for an immediate action to be taken. I returned to this and then things were quickly heated as Gonzales bashed Maxwell multiple times about his credentials and his medical field IN FRONT of Multiple people in the medical lobby. Because of that, Maxwell left bay because of the insults, because he was not seeing as anyone helping him. He went to sec lobby because of friends, BEFORE the backpressure surge was announced. My issue is that you are all assuming that Maxwell has no friends ICly that he would go and vent to when no one else will listen to him. I acted in a way that was fitting for the character. Maxwell preps go-bags at shift start, he has the main rooms setup first, and he is checking the medical records for anything to be aware of for crew safety. He is a guy who prepares ahead of time, and after past experience with someone who is a POLAR opposite of them, he was asking to have a plan to avoid this very thing. I feel the warning is very much wrong here, especially since I WAS NOT THE ONE THIS REPORT WAS ABOUT, which seems she is getting off without issue here from what I understood.
  11. +1 for the following reasons: IC: She is consistently working with the laws and procedures to generate the RP that is sometimes required that even an Antag lacks. She is more then willing to admit her flaws, and does what she can to overcome them. Her IC issues are worked on ICly with others that does not effect her ability to be commanding when need be. OOC: She is a fun person to talk to and helpful in times when ia question needs asked and should be known ICly but is otherwise lacking. The knowledge of the game makes the multiple characters more believable then otherwise would be in some instances.
  12. To Resilynn: He does both roles as he has both degrees. I often do his original assignment before he takes on his other possible rolls. He is not versed in chemistry other them mixing two ingredient mixes, and thus tries to go nowhere near the chem-lab. He is hands on and actually cares for the people of the station. I also let the surgeons do their part, the MDs do their thing and Psych do theirs. It's that He is very hands on and wants to make sure everyone is tended to. Most of the issue is IC, but he is ment to be an OOC challenging character personally. He sticks to the original assignment when there are plenty of staff to help, but he also get bored as a psych up in his office when nothing happens.
  13. +1 from all experiences I've had, there hasn't been a reason to say against it in terms of RP quality.
  14. +1 I like the concept of the characters and while Flint is an idiot, he is a well played idiot. Antoinette is certainly interesting change in the medical bay as well. Definitely want to see what potential is here.
  15. +1 For the interactions I've had with both Rose Tomlin and Derby, they were fun and very well played. Very inventive in the solutions which a Skrell could certainly do.
  16. +1 I think i've mostly interacted with Randell Shaft, but for what i've seen, he is good as a part of the community and his characters are fun to be around.
  17. It has been updated with the notation on said addition, with the missed question answered.
  18. BYOND key: Activeknockback Character names: The following are McShains: Alexander, Arthur, Connor, Damian, Daniel, Ingrid, Lance, Thomas, and William (Yes I know it's strange to have this many family members who all work for NT, but it is a BIG Corporation, right?) The Following are of other groups: Albert Maxwell, Edward Mason How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Several Years now. Minimum I believe is three. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Command Position of CMO Additional Information From Request: I was making Albert to do the other fields that I have yet to truely do, psych and chem mostly (Still not doing that totally yet. Working on learning basics both IC and OOC) I allow each of my characters to grow naturally, and I feel he has quickly developed his skills into that of fitting for the CMO position. He was built with the eventual promotion in mind, however his growth was faster then expected to which I felt that the often Vacant when I play CMO placement would pay off in the long run. ICly, he does his work with a special attention to the quality of service and it shows. While he can be rash with bartenders if they are less then intelligent about the amount they serve a singular patron, he does it more out of care for the station, it's resources, and it's crew then any malice or ill-intent. Why did you come to Aurora?: A friend invited me and I fell in love with the atmosphere and people Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes, I have it open when I make any form of application. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes, it was for going SSD as a paramedic with the RIG suit on. The time issued was 2018-07-13. I believe at the time, I was having a major internet issue that did not allow me to keep connected and it eventually dropped me completely that stopped me form informing the staff of the issue. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: I think that Roleplay should be about having fun with the people and giving them a fun experience. It is a community game, and the community of Aurora is that of a mostly loving, caring group that is welcoming to new players. Whenever I have a question, I almost always get a speedy and accurate answer that allows for more fun for myself and hopefully others. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Direction, RP Generation, and guidance for new players is often what I think of when the question is asked. It is also a step to stop trolls and griefers from damaging the environment too badly if the admin are not available. The Command Staff should always try to encourage the gameplay and help of others . What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibilities in my personal opinion are that of people who know the rules and help new players learn them more effectively. They are also help the player learn the community. If the new people screw up, a white-listed member might be able to help correctthe issues before an admin or moderator would otherwise have to get involved and the potential to lose another new friend to the server. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? A new group of Unathi have appeared in the Tau Ceti system. They are an augmented race with cybernetics which was not the most well recieved by the people, but they were not stopped, as they sought refuge from an otherwise bad storm of war, blockades of their own system, and other less enjoyable events. Talks were had over the time between and they are being welcomed after the initial shock factor has dissipated, and was eventually met with optimism. They have gained and are growing their own settlement on New Gibson. NanoTransen is doing well with cultural exchanges and even going so far as to have olympic style games with the new settlers. They also have been given a mass internship into NanoTransen, which would make the idea of teaching more people a bit stressful to Albert, but he would take it in strides. He is also very hopeful to study what makes these Unathi different that that of the baseline. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? The Roles I plan on playing if the application are accepted are the baseline roles that do not require whitelist and the CMO. I have developed a character I feel who has earned the chance at it. While this is not saying I have completely earned it, it would be well to say that I have studied the wiki hard enough and put as much detail into it as I could. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Albert Maxwell, CMO (There is no paragraph here, this is all I am looking to do with this at the present time. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 7.5-8.0/10 Anyone who says a perfect ten is in my own opinion lying. If you think yourself a perfect score, then it means you have nothing left to learn as an RPer. Everyone should always have something to learn about hobbies that they actually care about. Everyone can improve, I am no different. One of my biggest drawbacks is I can sometimes lack appropriate responses for some situation, but they can fit the background of whichever character I am playing at the time. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, Whitelist can be revoked at any time for multiple reasons. If I were to besmirch the whitelist roles, or gain too many administrative actions, especially within a short time-frame would earn me a quick revocation of the whitelists I would have at hte time. This is especially true for command positions, but I would also expect it if it were a race application I was doing too. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Every time I do a role, be it something I think I already know or not, I am often re-looking over any relevant wikis while keeping them open during play. It makes the roleplay more fluid and immersive to have this setup for myself. I have looked over the Wikis for the command roles I have been looking at and have found that the characters I have been playing could preform those duties as is required of the staff. Extra notes: I would like to say Thank You in advance for taking the time to read this. Please Inform my if I have missed anything that is required in the questions as the coloring on my screen messed with my eyes, this making it hard to discern each line. to an extent. Sorry if the answers are not entirely what is expected or long enough. The character I am aiming to use is relatively new, but he is mostly played in the rounds prior to the skeletal crews with some throughout the day.
  19. Reporting Personnel: Albert Maxwell Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Emergency Physician at time (Psychiatrist in most rounds) Game ID: bZE-dBEY for most recent but multiple incidents occured. This is the first I was calm enough (both IC and OOC) to actually report it. (thanks also in part to multiple good players on the server who guided me here) Personnel Involved: (Name, Job Title: Offender/Witness/Other) - Albert Maxwell- Emergency Physician / Fernando Gonzales- CMO Time of Incident: Most of the shift while CMO was awake Real Time: (Unsure 04/07/19) Location of Incident: Cargo and Medbay (Over Medical Comms) Nature of Incident: [ x ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ x ] - Neglect of Duty [ x ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ x ] - Misconduct [ x ] - Other Constant berating of person who is qualified and required for help. Overview of the Incident: The shift began the same as any other. After a while, we were told that armed men were boarding the station via NCC announcement and were prepping the trauma bay and ICU for security. The medbay came under attack in that time as such that security had given the medical department orders to vacate the medbay and move to cargo with as much supplies as they could carry. After the medbay was evacuated, medical staff including others that were present (People not listed due to hecktic situation and names were not remembered.) During setup of secondary bay, CMO Fernando Gonzales had awoken from cryo and effectively insulted myself by claiming I was "Not doing my job" by being in the designated area by ISD Forces. After multiple insults to the degree and competency, (General description of the incident, to include as much detail as is deemed necessary), I reminded him that i am also a psychiatrist, and that he should not speak to crew in such a way. He had made a rather offensive remark and I had told him "If i have anything to do with it, I would personally make sure he was not suitable to lead the medical department. I specified that the command part very clearly. In no way did i make it interpritable as physical harm to his person, belongings or such, only his command position. He continuously insults staff for not having work done within minutes of shift start when there is no other person with access to have medication stocked or surgery set up. I often act as an Emergency Physician when the area is swamped. There were on multiple times that he had told me to ignore dying persons and "Remember my job" when nothing for my job was to be done. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: No, as there was no IAA on at the time, and when I would have made the complaint he had an ERT leader arrest me, thus not allowing me to talk to anyone after that. Actions taken: N/A Additional Notes: I feel strongly that he needs at a minimum another psychological evaluation and a refresher on how his command has effects on crew. He is a detriment to the crew's moral, and an insult to the profession. ERT leader nor anyone else from ERT or ISD told me what the charges were at the time of arrest, only that the CMO had ordered it. The action of using the ERT to arrest me only AFTER the shuttle had arrived but before I could board said shuttle whilst he was already in the command bridge is more then childish and unbecoming of a CMO. Non-related to CMO: The ERT had fired a shot at me durig boarding, seemingly at random as I had not heard any instruction from him to not move. It was noisy and he made no attempt to get past the noise.
  20. BYOND Key: Activeknockback Total Ban Length: No time amount given. but banned on 2018-12-19 03:17:12 Banning staff member's Key: Pratepresidenten Reason of Ban: "Repeated incidents of going AFK. If you're not going to play, don't join." This was the exact message that appears, baring either a typo or issue with Byond. Reason for Appeal: I play on the game when I could. I am currently working off of a mobile hotspot and I do not have a great plan for it. While playing on the day of the ban, my high-speed data for it had expired just after I had joined. I had to disconnect and reconnect twice in order to get to the point I could move, with shutting down everything else on my computer. As I was reconnecting the second, or maybe even third time, I was banned without being asked anything. The reasons I have disconnected a lot as of late is because the hotspot is not always well connected, spiking my ping well above two seconds. At that point, I am unable to move, talk, reply to a message from anyone or much anything else.
  21. I honestly suck at names, and it gave a simple solution along with an interesting way to have an idea with different backstories. I read over the rules, and there was no mention anywhere against it either, so I ran with it. Each character from the family all have their own things, opinions, and attitudes. They are related, yes, but they are each individual characters.
  22. BYOND key: Activeknockback Character names: Alexander McShain, Damian McShain, Arthur McShain, William McShain, Lance McShain, Connor McShain, Daniel McShain, O.D.I.S. [GARD] Thomas McShain, Jason McShain How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I think it is close to a year, possibly more. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I am more then proficient as an engineer, I have specialized in the game as a station engineer, and know most of the station like the back of my hand. Why did you come to Aurora?: A friend pointed it out and have enjoyed the player base adn RP since arriving to the server. I find it more enjoyable then most other servers because the active admins that make sure the players also follow rules and are helpful when asked for it. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have read all the rules, and have them open while I am making this to verify everything is made properly. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay by definition is playing a role, almost like acting in a sense, but in practice it is different. To myself, it is about having fun while pretended for a while in a fun atmosphere where things are mostly friendly and a plethora of emotions can be felt and even enjoyed for others. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The purpose of a Head of Staff OOCly to me is meant to help the newer players, those who may be trying the department for the first or even the fifth time learn the game and how it works. I think this is the responsibility of more then just the heads of staff however, but that of any veteran players who know enough about the system as well. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibility of the Heads of Staff I think are as stated previously, where they are mentors and help to the new people who may be joining the server for the first time. They also generate direction and RP for the departments both OOCly and ICly where. Whitelisted specifically is to make sure the rules are maintained to a degree. Getting an admin/Moderator to handle matters is the b Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Alexander McShain Character age: 36 Years Old Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Alexander was born to William and Bertha McShain. Bertha died in childbirth, and so he has had a particularly close relationship with his father. Eventually, his father remarried to a woman that Alexander had little care for, but his father was happy thus he would be quiet about his lack of emotion for it. They lived aboard a ship for most all of his life, helping do wires, repairs, and other things that would be easier for a child to do with their smaller size. He has always found it fascinating how all of the parts fit together and came apart. He spent most of his time as a youngster tinkering with robotics or other devices with his younger brother Connor. His father had seen the potential in Alexander, as he aged, so did his talents and curiosity. Being the oldest of his generation, he had a couple of perks he had used growing up, some would even help later to some minor degree. One of these though is EVA training from an uncle who had been disowned by the family after a feud almost turned violent. When he was out in the voidsuit, it was uncomfortable for the suit, but the quiet working environment was something that he appreciated. Living on the ship, he moved around a lot. He had met different cultures of humans, met many Tajarans, and even a couple Unathi. This gave him an open view of the races, with which he sees people for the work they do, not their race. As a teenager prior to college, he offered to patch any holes the ship may have gotten for whatever reason, be it a broken window or hull. He was always told to be careful, as "it is a lot harder to repair something that is not broken" which never made any sense to him, but he hoped the answer would be reveled when he was ready, but to this day he has no idea what it means. All of the people on the ship were required to learn basic first aid as well, starting their teachings at age Ten (10) He spent his life like this, until the age of seventeen, where he enrolled into Ceres University to get a Masters in Engineering. After Graduating, he went back home to the ship he had always known. Only in the time he had been away, large portions of the ship had fallen to disuse and almost repairable means. He made use of his Masters and repaired what he could, though there were still some sections he could not do. After he had repaired the ship, he taught what inhabitants were left how to maintain the more advanced systems that had almost failed while he had been away. When it was said and done, the ship functioned better. It at least held together now without leaking the O2 into space. He knew he would need credits to keep the ship operational now, and so he took a contract with NT in order to help support his family, extended family and his home. After working with NT for about Eleven (11) years, he had saved up enough to start his work back to schooling and started on his PhD in Engineering. It took him up until recently to finish his Doctorate, and in doing so looked to NT for any positions that a Chief Engineer Opening Might be viable for his to acquire. What do you like about this character?: Alexander in particular has a cool head, and is not scared of the vacuum of space, he is open when he says if something about his inability to do something, and is not afraid to ask for help in doing so. He knows to follow orders when given, but he may disagree with them. What do you dislike about this character?: If someone makes him blow his top, he will walk away or risks punching them square in the nose if they act without reason. He is vocal when he thinks someone is being stupid or is taking an unneeded risk to themselves or the station. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He is experienced with most of the ins-and-outs of the stations. He takes his time to look over the blueprints to be able to respond with speed and precis on. His calm head has helped him save stations from what would effectively ripping in half because of his fast work. He knows the priorities of the Station and Crew are the most important and cares very much about safety on the job. He is also eager to help the younger members and apprentices of the station learn their new fields, and has an honest joy out of seeing his fellows succeed. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 7-8/10, while hoping to be a 9/10 Extra notes: Thank you for the read, and I hope the detail on the bio was deep enough.
