  1. Could you do... Camile Crafter and Beatrix Saylor? Camile looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/xdLPyNr.png Though I would like her in a bartender suit this time. Beatrix in a bartender suit as well, but she's got longer red hair. She's shorter than Camile (Camile is 5'8, Bea is 5'5) and she is more chipper than Camile is. I'll add more details in a mo.
  2. Wait, you're not supposed to get a 0, that's bad.

How about something attention grabbing, yet gentle. Like this? http://vocaroo.com/i/s1qrlrTQJ6hb
  4. People actually have half-Tajaran, half-human chars. Or half Unathi, half Tajaran characters. I won't name names but they know who they are.
  5. IPC players had a right. IPCs were terribly bugged. In fact, they don't just have disadvantages from IC reasons but disadvantages from bugs added on top of it because they had been neglected code-wise for quite a while. This is probably why. I've seen both terrible human and tajaran players. I've had Tajaran threaten to kill my characters over social disputes, another one threatening and trying to dominate my character and pushing them over doing an honest mistake (which was an IC mistake, since if I used the information OOC'ly I would be metagaming, but yes). I don't get the whole anti-human sentiment I see within a lot of heavy roleplay communities. People are always saying things like "Humans are boring" or "I'm a human in real life I don't want to play as one" which is fair enough. But then they don't want the restrictions of being a non-human yet enforce it on other species but not on the one they like roleplaying as. On a somewhat related and unrelated note, people want to co-opt with the oppression struggle through RP of being a Tajaran and start referring to Tajaran as a "race" - which is in my opinion, where it gets creepy. Tajaran is not a race, and you cannot have "interracial" relationships or children. They are not a different human race, they are a different alien species - they won't realistically have compatible genomes with us as they don't come from the same evolutionary line etc. I find this really common, I mean. The amount of "mixed race" children on the server is astounding, and another example of RP-hopping in regards to Tajaran (and Unathi). You won't see people doing this Skrell or Diona.
  6. Now, I don't have a problem with the Tajara species. I do have a problem with how some Tajaran players conduct themselves, which sort of plays a part in all this leeway-ness. I can't say all Tajaran players are dicks since I've met some lovely ones, but this needs to be said. Now, I'm sure most of us are familiar with the whole IPC debate on how sentient silicons are and if they can be heads or not. Not only that, IPCs can't even have their own channel due to made up IC-reasons that could easily be circumvented in the same way that Tajaran's lore have been updated. On relations to humans and robots it has indeed been imagined and can be changed just as easily. When we talk about IPCs and the human relations to them there's a double standard; people instantly jump to "Humans would be paranoid of robots" and "Silicons can't do this, or that" and "Humans would be skeptical of the ability of this or that" where they state IC prejudices (which are totally optional, in the futuristic century we're in out of all of the new species IPCs would have the longest contact with humans) when in reality they are stating their OOC prejudices. Coming back to Tajaran, Taj players have been given a lot of freedom. I once had someone lecture me on how "races" should be different otherwise everything is just differently skinned humans. This applies to so many other species (most heavily, AIs/cyborgs/IPCs) and often Skrell, but not so much on Tajaran, and occasionally Unathi. The pattern here is that I find on Baystation, Aurora, and Hypatia is that the lore writers play as those characters (the mystery is why those characters are popular, I have no idea) and don't really give a shit about other characters. A good example is how the IPC lore only got written recently but the lore for Tajaran is an actual novel. People are often dicks OOC'ly and they want to be powerful dicks IC'ly as well, but having subservient RP doesn't quite cut it. The solution - edit it out. That seems to be what has happened here. Because of this, people will just make their world using their favourite species. They inforce rules harsher on species they dgaf about and allow a bit of RP-dodging via lore update in the gesture of "progression" or "new generation". Whereas less liked species won't ever have that progression and will subsequently get the shaft.
  7. Totally agree. IPCs need more love.
  8. not criminals. POTENTIAL criminals. Considering she tends to be CSI and loves her job, a lot of it bleeds into IA. She adores the investigating, so naturally she jumps at every opportunity to look into investigating a bunch of broken lights or demotions, or anything that she suspects will lead to someone making a complaint, as it all falls into departmental and inter-departmental issues. I don't really remember chasing down actual criminals, only tailing sec officers in code green so i can complain about displaying firearms, or interviewing someone who potentially committed malpractice in their profession and looking to file demotions. but She rarely even does that, as she's befriended around 4 bartenders and 2 librarians in her long, long shifts where no one needs her to do anything as IA, and seeing as her office doesn't have a chair in which to sit near the front desk she sees it as NT subtly telling her to leave anyway. The Stamos thing is too long to explain but it's a lot of fun to see people's theories on what's going on between us. This all culminated in her being visited by a CC officer so you never know if demotions are in order anyway :3 The Stamos drama is funny tbh. Camile Crafter, Beatrix and Morgana Static have all been a circle in it. Wonder if it will escalate?

    IPC Language

I would imagine IPCs have their own language due to their own "bluetooth" of communicating with other IPCs. This would be a very useful feature of organizing work with other IPCs. People milk the paranoia and robot fear thing waaaay too much. It's the year 2500+ if people can fuck lizards without a second thought I'm sure humanity has progressed enough to consider transhumanism.

    IPC Language

    I think IPCs should have binary as a language. IPC beeps, "01001101 01101101 01101000 00100000 01100010 01100001 01100010 01111001 00100000 01110011 01101000 01101111 01110110 01100101 00100000 01101001 01110100 00100000 01101001 01101110 00100000 01101101 01111001 00100000 01110011 01101111 01100011 01101011 01100101 01110100 00101110 00100000 01011001 01100101 01110011 00100000 01101100 01101001 01101011 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100001 01110100 00101110" (That's actual binary. But it doesn't have to be real binary because actual binary is long for short sentences.) Then I realized it wouldn't make sense unless they were just stating 0s and 1s all day for a long time. Otherwise beeps in the form of morse would kiiiinda work. or IPC beeps, "Buzzz buzz beep boop." or IPC beeps. IPC 2 boops. IPC ping/buzz. (for shouting) IPC 2 buzzes quietly (for whispering)
  11. @Wer: Ah alright. Got any more details on this character? @Bot: Go for it! @Nebula: Possibly. But she'd have to have an incident where she was fired or ideally left since the Blues believe that security is rather tied to the police and won't try interactions with her.
  12. Ah as for the records, the criminal record thing is completely optional. And yeah Talia would get her ass robbed in a club run by Blue members.
  13. Everytime I play mutiny I try this. Protests need to be organized Sadly it usually ends with tragedy while security get so bored they refuse to give you neck space. Sadly, with the way it's set up. Once you do a protest people will know you're a mutineer, and that ends you in the permabrig or loyalty implanted as blue alert pops up and security busts in with their sprays, flashes and guns. Game over. If you protest you gotta have weapons or a base to fall back to, if you get caught doing such because the AI has been peeping on you, game over again.
  14. I could work with that, yes, yes. When I play as Lhinton perhaps I could recruit your character in, see how it goes right?
  15. OOC: Blues is a small anarcho-socialist but widespread secret underground society of low class Sol originated people. They are the remains of gang culture from the many revolutions and civil wars that happened on Earth before space colonies existed. They are usually human and they tend to be quite normal in their outgoing behavior. They are classified as both a gang and underground society. They are non-violent and don't have any objectives to overthrow Nanotrasen but they do have anti-government sentiments. This is purely an RP role and is not intended to cause grief or rev-like behavior on the station. Blues is an underground society, not revolutionists. I'm welcoming any good RP'ers who can make a secret society person roleplayed without it being overdone, or boring even. Current members: Lhinton Lovely - Bartender, is a professional swindler. Peggy Whistleheart - Cargo Technician Ex-members: Camile Crafter - Bartender, formerly scout. Info: The Blues are not physically violent without provocation. They're normal, if not friendly people who do their day to day jobs like any other crewmember. They use the extranet's deepweb to organize activities. Are very into gambling and have large underground untaxed casinos. They tend to respect other species due to being aware of hierarchies, even if as individuals themselves might not like them. (Roleplay this) They are often involved in card and bank fraud as well as drug dealing behind the scenes, they're very sly about this and won't let anyone know instantly about how or where they're doing it. They don't do this very often and hardly ever on station (roleplay is very important here). Blues are very silicon friendly. Reason is that the rich citizens of Sol used silicons for labour and put the poorer people out of their jobs. But after the silicons gained freedom they were relegated second-class citizens and treated poorly, they put their differences aside and turned from enemies to friends. Silicons help the Blues with their fraud and underground dirty work. Blues will use the above things (dirty money) to bail each other out of jail, or to use moles to bribe people back into their jobs. They take on civilian roles and never take on head or security roles. The Blues do not mention any form of their culture to undercover cops, police, security members, and people who have ties to corporations. They have a sense of style, and often are the fashionistas of the civilian sector. If they ever use a weapon of their own, it's a knife, not an energy gun (they do not like the corporations involved that produce energy guns). The Blues value underground music and poetry, satire of giants and leaders. Their music involves techno, neo-punk, neo-rap and futuristic rock. They don't like capitalism in theory, but currently due to the blows done to the group by indirect classism they find they need to join places to work and survive as individuals. Hypocritically, they love money and don't really care about what happens to other people and only care about what happens within their organization (Ie: stealing). Don't specifically have a leader, they'll rely on whoever has the most skills and respect - a meritocracy. Culture: They have a number of secret handshakes, mannerisms and values. One defining aspect of the Blues is that they identify one another by dying their hair blue, if not, wearing a visible item of clothing (IE: Shoes, neckscarf, jumpsuits, lipstick, nail polish, and/or eye contacts, but it's usually dyed hair) that signifies their alliance with the blues. Stereo-typically they tend to be intelligent though some lower ranking members might be uneducated in manners and etiquette, but each do have a specialist skill that helps them within their underground society. The Blues seek employment in the outside world to refine their counter culture and bring more resources and money to their underground society. The typical Blue member will be: Around 21-37 years old. An underdog of some kind, either by ethnicity, class, etc Originated from a Sol planet or a space station orbiting Sol. Athletic and slightly unrefined to a degree, if not, just some sign that they don't come from a snooty middle/upper class background. Poor. Optionally: A minor criminal record (that does NOT involve killing - be realistic, many organizations have equal opportunities on offenders but don't push it.) Has some aspiration that's within the civilian sector and good at what they do (why else would NT hire you?) Easily converted in mutiny rounds. Sometimes: Using Gutterband language. (Pst, don't overdo the "What you doin', I'm diggin' up some grub-a-dub", that's not them. They're more space punks than "space hicks" which seems to be overdone these days.)
  16. Yes, I'm not saying you can't do that (in fact, that's minimum of what I'd expect from a ling) but the issue here is that people complain about being knocked out of rounds a lot. Obviously, it can't be a hostage situation, but a taunt situation definitely works. For some people, they dislike any gamemode that involves death (myself, I just decanonize the round and call good sport but some people don't) is disliked, in fact, the slightest bit of antag activity drives people into a frenzy. So yes, you might RP with them until death, lock them into a locker and so on. But then what? Someone moaning in deadchat for the next hour before passive-aggressively not readying up for the next changeling lobby startup?
  17. In a gamemode where the entire purpose of being a changeling is to eat people (or steal DNA somehow) it's hard not to knock people out of the round other than eating monkeys. I mean, changelings can be well-RP'ed I think, but the death part is enviable since "hostage holding" would be rare or pointless. So the question arises: What is a changeling expected/supposed to do?
  18. Okay, I admit I laughed.
  19. Garry Milders was a nice character, I remember interviewing him for People of NT. Penny thought he was nice. Penny Islington and Camile Crafter. I'm expecting, if anything, a lotta shit for Crafter and her antics. Phooey.
  20. Just putting this forward. Unathi, Skrell, and Tajaran are not humans. They are all separate species, in fact both IC'ly an OOC'ly it'd be better if the word "race" was not used in comparison to having "animal-inspired" species being compared to humans with the same root but different geographical adaptations is a bit dodgy. Especially when you realize that in the future humanity is supposed to be diverse (yet 98% of crewmembers are white) and the minority makeup is sci-fi aliens that look similar to animals, the unintended implication runs deep. If you wanna use specieism, sure, go ahead. Not to mention none of these species have the same biological reproductive groups (can't reproduce nor share same genetic data) so I'm puzzled at why I'm seeing mixed "race" people around, or inter-"racial" relationships without taboo.
  21. I was just contemplating a lot of things in my life in the library today. This woman, Tracy Aitor comes along - she didn't have any mop or bucket available in my library, probably because the entire station was impeccably clean. "Well, I'm Tracy. A janitor here at one of the many er- wonderful nanotransen facilities.", she says. I wanted to get to know more about this woman, who just seemed to have an unique aura about her. She leans back into the sofa she is sitting on, crossing her legs with her fingertips pressed against each other. Her galoshes are shiny and somewhat donned in style, "I sort of work to get by. I suppose you could you say my dream is to not have to work. So on a station like this, I have the benefit of ordering assistants around without much of a hassle on my end." This janitor has her arms crossed with a smirk on her face, the land she does own - she rules, and she knows it. "Personally, I'm pretty open I'd say. I'm not too picky about who I'm with or for how long and with how many different people you can see in a high-traffic station like this- the opportunities are endless.", she says, contemplating the different kinds of things we can get up to on the vast station we are currently boarded on. She makes an evil laugh that cackles through the room. "I'd like to own my own living space! None of that renting stuff.. Somewhere nice and large too. Maybe get a manager's position where I can yell at people all day while I kick my feet up. Like a research director! yeah. That sounds nice.", she speculates in sheer new-found interest. "Oh- uh, looks like we need to evacuate!", she says after a announcement boomed through the ship. She grins wickedly and makes finger pistols as she lifts herself off her chair to leave. Rock and roll Tracy, rock and roll.
  22. Can we apply this to Pun Pun as well. That cheeky monkey really disrupts our bartending work sometimes. He pushes over my patrons and gets ape hair in their drinks.
  23. Today I met with Garry Milders, a Pharmacist wearing the Chief Medical Officer's coat (with permission!) which did rather suit him. I'd imagine it would be very comfortable. When asked about his life, he said the following; "I was born in Mendel city, Biesel. Lived there all my life, and still do. I do enjoy it. It's a rather luxurous appartment in one of the skyscrapers on central. Has a nice view of the city, and the layout is quite alright as well.", he said, nodding with a satisfied expression. What a lucky guy! "I am a doctor, specialized in neuro-surgery. Though here on Aurora, I do tend to have to do things outside my frame.", he continues. He elaborates more on this, "I am also a skilled chemist, and training to be a forensic technician as well", said the ambitious medical staff. The work is alright, I get paid well, meet nice people, and, I also get to save people as well.". Sounds like a rather fulfilling job doesn't it? He sat there, seemingly beginning to reminiscence the past, "I was quite fascinated in biology from childhood, and seeing as my mother is a coroner, it also slightly influenced my choice in this, I am somewhat of an idealist. I decided to become a doctor, merely out of the wish to help", he says. "And NanoTrasen did offer a good opportunity to work, so I took it, and so far I am not disappointed. So basically, for now, I am drifting along with the current.", he continues. For someone who has found much job satisfaction, I had to pry a little bit deeper into his personal life, because I can't help myself really. "Oh! Yeah. My parents are still alive, and should be so for quite a while now, and I also have a boyfriend, with whom I live together. Fun fact, he also works here on Aurora, but probably decided to stay home today", said the Pharmacist with a slight glimmer in his eye. I could tell it was love at first sight huh? "Indeed... And he himself is just so adorable.. Shoulder-length hair. Large, brown eyes, almost like a puppy's" "Honestly, I don't know what I want more from my life. I have a successful career. My home... Well, would be nice to actually buy a house instead of an apartment someday, but that is a short-term goal". Penny gives this NT employee a thumbs up to his general life satisfaction and hopes the best for his career in future, as well as his love life. Peace out!
  24. Today I met a man in his mid twenties. His name is Jason Sanders. When I asked him about his life and how he came to NT, I was again taken aback due to the magnificence of the people who work for Nanotrasen. Additionally I was reminded of the importance of recognizing that some backgrounds can be humble. This cargo technician, Jason Sanders, takes some time to talk to me after a few orders on the cargo computers and a squabble with his boss. The brunette man somewhat fidgets as he stands there in front of me, "I didn't really have any parents. Had a... rough time as a kid.". "Um... fell in with a gang. Bad stuff happened." he nervously stated, his eyes were on the floor, I could sense some guilt within them. "I left an' baically started over with NanoTrasen." "Anway, uh... so... I had a rough time starting out at NanoTrasen." "Bad relationships, I ended up picking up alcoholism thanks to the bad relationships...Kinda ended up hatin' myself." "I... stopped drinking. That's cool.", he says with a somewhat repressed tinge in his voice, but you can tell that he's made a lot of progress. I don't know about you, but I think he should be very proud of that. "I met this woman, um, Brenna? An' we were gonna get married. She was pregnant, y'know?" "An' um... she died. So... that kinda sucks... but, I'm a father. So that's great." Jason Sanders now lives a single father with his only son. He is now looking for a new job since this interview, but I have faith in him. I think Sanders has so much potential as a human being and a person and if he could leave a gang, beat alcoholism, work, and raise a child you're really something. Let's applaud Mr. Sanders, shall we? Thank you for having this interview!
  25. Hello! I'm Penny Islington! I'm a 30 years old young Sol originated Librarian who is also aspiring photographer and journalist. I am running a weekly magazine section called "People of Aurora". I have been working as a reporter for 13 years now, I am happily single and away from my ex-husband Darcy. We had two children - spoiled as anything, we're very happy and we're quite well off. Our lives have been easy and with time this has made me wonder about other peoples' lives and what goes on within them. I'm not interested in a sensationalist story. I want to hear personal lives and stories. Happy ones, heart-wrenching ones, and anything that would capture the essence of the individual. I love Nanotrasen and I am happy to work here, I believe the galaxy's most influential corporations must have a lot of stories to tell, I want to hear them. **** OOC Notes ***** Penny will often be a Librarian on the station. If you want to get featured here just approach her and she'll list you the guidelines. It is also possible to do it via skype or PM but I prefer doing it IC'ly as Penny can take pictures. Sorta works out better that way. If Penny is killed, or if her items are damaged stolen before round end, the news article won't be published. Protect Penny. You can comment on these news articles, but you must do it IC'ly as a character who has just found the article.
