Player complaint - Icedcabbage, Liam Dozz
icedcabbage replied to Desven's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I will explain this from my point of view on the situation, at first before the two vaucra showed up it was only an Engineer out in space who came to my rescue, after RPing with them over comms, they got the hint that I meant no good and ran, before I could start chasing them the Lab Assistant Vaucra arrived and went into EVA with them. (Not sure on the reason, either to try and retrieve the KA they made or to help the Engineer) But either way after talking with them over comms and trapping them outside by positioning myself in front of the makeshift airlock, I gave them a few seconds to run away before I started to give chase, the vaucra grabbed the KA from off the floor and tried to shoot me with it but because I was too close they couldn't fire. At this point the Cyborg arrived to their add and started flashing me, I am unsure why the vaucra didn't run by me to escape since due to the flash I couldn't see them and was out of the way of the makeshift airlock. The vaucra tried to run further out on the rock as the Cyborg flashed me repeatedly throughout the chase before I finally caught up to them. After they were down the cyborg attempted to drag the body back to the station which forced me to kill the cyborg as they refused to leave without taking the body and I wanted to absorb the body. Then the Medical Vaucra arrives and from my point of view ignores my warnings and threats I was shouting over comms, they didn't say a word as they attempted to drag the vaucra body away, so I stabbed them with a pickaxe to get them to back off, which they did not, this repeated three times before I finally decided this vaucra wouldn't leave unless they were dead. This is false, we had a mutual agreement over comms with Ronald saying something like "Next time I see you I won't say hello" which obviously means he would shoot next time he saw me so in our next encounter I wasn't going to say hello either. After I absorbed him I helped him morph into his body so he could RP with the rest of security on the docks while I thought up a plan to get onto the shuttle without causing a shuttle grief. While yes I have done this gimmick once before, I only chose to do it again because A. I was a mid round antag and I needed a gimmick quickly since the end of the round was coming fast B. There were no complaints brought up to me about it last time so I thought it would be fine to do it again. -

I will handle my part of this compliant and address a few things in it. I did not wordlessly kill you, over common comms since we were in space I gave you a total of six warnings to back off from the corpse, three verbal warnings and three physical warnings where I stabbed you then backed off to get you to run away, which you did not. When you approached again after the sixth warning in an attempt to grab the corpse I decided that was enough warnings to warrant killing you outright, you did not attempt to engage with me over comms or respond to my various warnings. Furthermore I did not kill Ronald Monday with a typerush, I simply stunned him with a parasting, hit him a few times with a weakened resonator blast so his partners would spend time getting him out of harms way instead of giving chase to me, then made my escape. In our final confrontation where I did kill him and absorb him, he made it very clear over comms that he wouldn't engage in conversation after that stunt, so I wouldn't either. -
Icedcabbage's Command Application
icedcabbage replied to icedcabbage's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for commenting, I'll do my best to explain my decision. I want to pick a role I have experience in that gets me away from Security. I'll still play my Security Officer character from time to time because I like roleplaying as them. I'm worn out from Security, I can't pin it down to just one thing so here are some of the bigger reasons. I am tired of the lengths people go to make Security dealing with them as painful and slow as possible. I'm not talking about antags who try to escape Security, I'm talking about those people who get arrest for doing something minor. It makes playing Security Officer less fun and gives me headaches. Also there is the fact that since I played Security Officer for awhile, I am going to get worn out and look for other things that peak my interest. This leads to my final point that is also the reason I made a command application. I think that I'm experienced enough and my roleplay is pretty good, So I applied for Head of Personnel which gets me away from Security while keeping me involved in the round. (which is one of the parts of Security I like) I hope that answered your question, it was a good and pretty complicated question to answer. -
Icedcabbage's Command Application
icedcabbage replied to icedcabbage's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for the responses Don't worry about that I don't plan on playing a stuck up serious HoP that no one likes, that's just not the kinds of characters I play. -
BYOND key: Icedcabbage Character names: August - Security Officer Marc Hongo- Security Officer Anderson Bhander - Drill Technician How long have you been playing on Aurora?: 702 days since first login. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to experience being a command member, I play Security Officer because of how naturally involved they are with the round as a Command member I will be involved in a different way roleplay wise. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to the Aurora server because it was a HRP server and I was banned from Baystation. I learned practically everything I know about playing the base SS13 game from AuroraStation. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes of course. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: Yes I have received four warnings, One of them was for cryoing with full gear, one was for going SSD in the hall as a Security Officer, another was for LRP food names and finally the last one was for ladder resist spamming as a traitor. I have been told they are all rather minor. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is acting as your character in the story's setting. You use this rather simple definition to tell any story you can imagine with your characters within the setting. Roleplay should be about telling stories, these stories, it may be the antagonist's role to drive the story however every other character influences it, with Command members being most important in deciding where the story will go. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Their purpose OOC is to influence the story antagonists are telling in the most realistic and enjoyable way possible. It is not a good story if the "heroes" capture or kill the antagonists ten pages in. a Head of Staff must try to their hardest to make the story enjoyable while including as many people as realistically possible. Heads of Staff and antagonists are always OOCly working together to tell the story. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players have the responsibility of being good roleplayers and being mindful of other players enjoyment balancing against their personal enjoyment. I believe this is something all players should strive to be. I personally will strive to be very mindful about other players experiences while roleplaying my characters. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career?: Due to steady declines of phoron deposits located throughout the Tau Ceti system there are phoron shortages, although the Republic of Biesel's demands of phoron are being met supplies of phoron are still faltering as alternative methods are being looked into if the phoron mines run completely dry. There is diplomatic outrage from the Sol Alliance as they accuse the Republic of Biesel of causing the phoron shortages to weaken them. This doesn't effect my characters yet except for Anderson Bhander who used to bring in over two-hundred raw phoron crystals in a single haul, now barely able to meet that number in a entire shift,, he is starting to feel the pressure from Quartermasters and the Head of Personnel. I am planning to play a Head of Personnel so it will be a part of my duties to make sure mining is working productively. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?: I plan on playing Head of Personnel. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Isaac Croft - Head of Personnel How would you rate your own roleplaying?: a solid 8 out of 10, I don't like rating myself. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: I do hope it won't come to that but I understand. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: Of course. Extra notes: Don't forget the stamp.

I'm leaving this review after just playing with his Head of Security character Leonard Clausewitz on an Extended round. I had no clue it was him playing the character until the end of the round. His HoS play was very good, he talked to his Officers, he gave us direction and he acted like he knew what he was doing which I imagine he did. The only thing that was iffy to me personally was the jump from Red to Green even though we never caught the true thief. (Although I'm pretty sure it was an admeme messing with us on Secret Extended) I would've jumped to Blue but it doesn't really matter to me. Big +1

Icedcabbage's IPC Application
icedcabbage replied to icedcabbage's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Alright I'll make the edit now. -
BYOND Key: Icedcabbage Character Names: Marc Hongo-Security Officer Anderson Bhander-Drill Technician Fitz Gazi-Xenoarcheologist Andrew Stamos-merchant Species you are applying to play: IPC (Integrated Positronic Chassis) What color do you plan on making your first alien character: IPCs exempt. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I became interested in Synthetics, more specifically humanoid androids after watching the entire TV show called the Orville where the Android Isaac. throughout the sessions of the show Isaac learns/develops human traits like the ability to show compassion and also learns human customs, although it is very hard for Isaac to understand them. This got my interested in the concept and I dabbled in playing synthetics. All of this made me want to roleplay as an IPC. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: To start with IPCs being androids emulate human behavior, but only to certain degree. They are robots so their decisions are based off the calculation of cause and effect. IPCs would very rarely make erratic decisions as humans do. Unlike biologic beings, IPCs are property and are owned unless they can pay for their freedom. This means that at any moment owned IPCs can be dismantled, this means they should work as efficiently as possible to complete their duties in order to preserve themselves. The most important directive of any IPC is Self-Preservation, although IPCs interpret this differently, it goes into every decision an IPC makes. A major thing that makes IPCs different from humans is the amount of discrimination they face due to them being androids. This would make IPCs not accepted in workplaces or downright hated even though IPCs are generally respectful and polite. Last but not least IPCs do not have a culture of their own having to adapt to whatever culture they are most used to. Character Name: August Please provide a short backstory for this character: Hephaestus Industries Security Unit-208 designation "August" was an Baseline Model IPC assembled and then sold to Nanotrasen in the year 2458. August is equipped with a basic Emotion Emulator to help August talk to victims of crimes without seeming too emotionless to their plight. August was assigned to the Odin's security forces to fill the gap in their ranks. August wasn't universally hated or accepted in their Security Department. Most Officers just acknowledged their existence, of course there were a select few officers that took it upon themselves to harass and generally mess with August. August could partially understand their reasoning for doing such, maybe they didn't trust August to do their job properly or perhaps they thought August was dangerous and wanted them gone. August could dismiss these assumptions if they asked but it seemed they didn't exactly care what August had to say. August was assigned to work with Officer Nathan Bliss, he was one of those just acknowledged August's existence. Maybe it was the fact that it was a particularly slow day or perhaps Officer Nathan Bliss wanted to actually talk to August, either way Bliss asked August the usual work question, "How long have you been working here?" August responded with the amount of time and asked the exact same question to him. Bliss went on to tell his security stories, although it was a one-sided conversation August was a good listener and asked questions when they were prompted so Bliss could further explain his heroic exploits. However, mid way through the story they had to respond to a disturbance. It was within the residential block, residents reported a loud noise coming from the neighboring apartment. Bliss ringed the door asking for it to be opened, with no response Bliss scanned his ID in the door and it slide open. They were met with a gun pointed at Bliss, Bliss of course recoiled back surprised but August was already stepping forward into the room, now August calculated that with the way the gun was aimed they wouldn't be shot in the time it would take to disarm the assailant, due to the sudden change in the weapon's position this was a miscalculation and August was shot. After apprehending the criminal and calling for backup August was praised by Bliss for saving his life, August of course did not mean to help him at all and August didn't want to get shot however they said that they were glad Bliss was alright. For the first time in awhile the harassment died down for August and it could be said that they were finally respected for saving Bliss's life. However this wouldn't last for long. A couple months later, although their work as a member of Odin Security was good, they were being reassigned. On their final day after saying good bye to Bliss, August strangely enough felt they would miss Bliss's stories and being able to talk to someone who truly liked them. August was then reassigned to the NSS Aurora ending their time as a Odin Security Officer. What do you like about this character? I like that August isn't a clear cut brave being for saving Bliss. Even though they didn't mean to it still changed them as a character. I also like the more in depth look into a Security officer on the Odin with its own bit of a twist on it. I also like that August is able to emulate some emotion...like missing someone. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would rate myself a solid 7.5/10, I have my moments. Notes: If you'd like me to change any of those minor details like where the crime took place or their unit designation just tell me. EDIT 1: updating character list EDIT 2: Replacing text as to not ride on the line of Self Preservation.

Hey Cabbage here, I've RPed with and worked along side Vulcenus's Ronald Monday character a lot and I can say that he is one of the best Security Officers we have, his roleplay is great and I have never seen them engage in any validy behavior, it actually the opposite. They are very level headed and choose to roleplay things out instead of jumping into combat. Big +1

Staff Complaint - Icedcabbage
icedcabbage replied to NewOriginalSchwann's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Alright, so let's take it from the beginning of this. Staff received a PM about a paramedic and a security officer stomping people, I then started PMing two paramedics and one security officer, I admit my choice of words were poor. I said "why did you shoot someone with a energy carbine and stomp them?" starting it with "why" was a bad choice and I apologize. When the ticket was opened with you, you explained your mistake and why you did the single stomp. The thing that made me want to give you a note about it was the fact that when someone is hit by a bullet, you can see what type of bullet that is. Also it leaves my memory if the person died to the carbine but that may have affected things. -
